  1. +1. Let the match director know you are new and they will work with you and just about everything. If your local club is like mine, there will be people who will have some extra gear you can borrow. I started with a Glock 22, an uncle mikes holster, and 2 double mag pouches. The 2 most important things are 1. Be Safe. Not only for yourself but for everyone around you. 2. Have fun and enjoy the experience.
  2. Here is a classic example of speed vs accuracy. This past weekend was the Florida State Championship. I am a Open D Class shooter and this is how I finished. 198 A's, 7 B's, 57 C's, 4 D's and 3 M's for a total of 1224 points. My time was 264.37 seconds for a 58.44% 29/52 place. 1st D Class. Another shooter from our club is a B shooter and finished 167 A's, 4 B's, 69 C's, 26 D's and 3 M's for a total of 1149 points. His time was 208.38 seconds for a 70.24% 19/52 place. 1st B Class. So even though I was more accurate, that 1 minute in extra time I took on stages is keeping me from moving up in class. So as far as a points per second. I was at 4.62 and he was at 5.51. Now most of the time I know I can make up with faster reloads, draw-first shot, movement into shooting positions and getting into a little better shape. So I think now I will start to video myself during matches to see where I can start shaving my time down.
  3. Ok so my rounds worked great. Average 172 power factor using 124 precision deltas and 8.6 gn of hs-6. Dot stays on target, when I have a good grip. So I am pleased and look forward in loading this for awhile.
  4. Like Edge, I started with the CR speed pouches and did like them. I tried one of the race masters and made the switch to them for my Open/Limited rig. I do like the adjustability and they work so nicely with my set up. They are pricey which is why I only use 3 plus one magnet.

    walls

This is how we build walls at our club. We build either 4x8 or 4x4 walls and use yellow web fencing. We will also build in ports as well. They are easy to move and allow us to see everything down range.
  6. Mag Parts (Springs, basepad, followers). Extra Recoil, main, striker springs. Extractor, ejector, and firing pin, and Fibers. If it's a level 2 match or higher I will bring an extra Gun and rig parts (mag holder, parts, extra holster). On a side note I always carry a Trauma kit in my bag.
  7. OK so In total I have 90 rounds loaded and will be heading to the range on Friday to Crono and see how they perform. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
  8. Ok i got it all set up and dialed in. I was running one round at a time to see what was happening at each station. Then I loaded up the case tube and loaded 40 rounds. Now i will test these rounds out this week and see how they work.
  9. Ok got my 650 today. So I'll have one of the guys I shoot with who has a 650 come over this weekend and set it up.
  10. Yul's character in the Westworld movie was actually based on his character in The Magnificent Seven. I enjoyed the movie and was kind of shying away from the HBO series, but I may have to check it out.
  11. Welcome to the Forums. There are some great matches in Florida.
  12. It depends on what you like. The 3-gun is a bushing barrel and a short dustcover. The Limited is a bull barrel and full length DC. I think the barrel is longer in the 3-gun. I have a limited in .40 and I love it. It's run great since day one with no issues. Now I run USPSA mostly and what little 3-gun I've done I use a Glock 34 right now. If I spent more time doing 3-gun I would jump into a 2011 as well.
  13. I have a DVC limited in 40 and use the MBX mags with no issues.
  14. I run 2 170, 3 140 and one 155. I find myself running a 170 and 155 most of the time. I'll run the 140's during classifiers when mag changes are required.
  15. Belt - I have the Black Scorpion and it's been great. Most of the people I shoot with have either DAA, CR or Black Scorp. So you can't go wrong with any of them. I would stay with a double belt system. Pouches - I used the ghost then moved to the CR Speed for production and Single Stack which I like better, but they will not go bullets out like the Ghost or DAA. Boss Hanger - Never used. Shot Timer - Pocket Pro II - This is what my club has so I like to be able to learn on mine and use the clubs for matches. Basepads - Not sure on Stock II
  16. +1 - I have the Gen 4 and it's been a great gun to get started with.
  17. Welcome and glad to have you here. I started with a black scorpion belt because that's what i could find on amazon when i was first starting out. I used an Uncle mikes basic kydex holster and double mag pouches a first. Once I got into this and started asking other shooters at my local club then I started to upgrade from there. What makes it worse is i've always been a gear guy so I like to try new things. Which is why I now have 4 rigs. Limited/Open, Production, Single Stack and 3 gun. I run the CR speed for my production & single stack which I like.
  18. Welcome to the Forums. Enjoy the match and just remember to be safe and have fun.
  19. So far I have picked up a brass cleaner/sorter, a bullet puller, Lyman handbook, and case gauges. I have a scale and calipers already (used to build golf clubs when I was a golf pro). I'm the kind of guy who would rather have more tools than he needs, then having to rig something because I don't have the tool/part.
  20. I am going to be going with a 650 as my choice. My wife has asked me to wait before I buy, since I am hard to buy for at Christmas time. Apparently I just go buy something if I want it. Go figure that one out. I have already started buying Primers and stuff so when i get the press i can just start rolling.
  21. That sight is one of the meprolight sights. it's legal for production I think, but you would be better off going with the Dawson Precision Set up. Most people go with black rear and Fiber optic front.
