  1. I’m confused. How is the SV grip two pieces?
  2. Omg! The one time I had to yell stop it was a guy with a 45 and chip McCormick 10 round magazines!
  3. The extractor cut is the area in the barrel that has been relieved so the extractor can grab the shell as it is in the chamber to extract it. The edge is usually sharp. The fork in the stock lifter helps guide the shell into the chamber. When you use a lifter that has been welded, it is easier for the round to get caught on that sharp edge and not chamber as evidenced by one side of the shell being mangled. If you chamfer that sharp edge, the shells feed into the chamber much easier. So much easier, in my case, that I don't have a problem with feeding.
  4. You can fix the release on a Carbon Arms caddy by filing a little on the clips.
  5. Once I got my extractor cut taken care of, I do not get ANY failure to feed with my C-Rums lifter. My shotgun runs pretty much flawlessly. (Probably shouldn't have said that out loud as I have my last big match of the year coming up....)
  6. I shot about 900 bayou bullets through my trubor when I first got it. (I was coming from limited 40 and the thought that coated would be way cheaper than jacketed). I couldn't believe how much lead built up in my comp and shooting Montana golds afterwards did not clean out the lead. I decided I did not want to chip that stuff out all of the time after spending several hours doing it once. I also found that jacketed and even plated bullets were not that much more in cost.
  7. I have the C-Rums on my versamax. As long the sharp edge has been taken off the extractor cut, I wouldn't think you would have any feed problems. Mine feeds great.
  8. Sorry. I didn't see this until now. The magic part that seemed to cure my light strikes was a Wolff brand benelli extra power hammer spring, the key being EXTRA POWER. Since installing that part probably at least two years ago, I have not had a single light primer strike since.
  9. That is interesting. My stock keeps coming loose too. I was at Superstition this year and at load and make ready on one stage, I felt something weird. I moved my shotgun a little and realized the stock seemed like it was loose enough to fall off (although it wasn't quite that loose but it was super noticeable). So the RO said are you ready and I said uhhhh noooooo.... had to go to the safe area and tighten the sucker down. It works loose every 500 or so rounds. I will have to see about replacing the screw.
  10. The illuminated reticle on the new Burris xtrII 1-8 first focal plane is completely useless on the lower powers. However, it is daylight bright on 8 power..... which is great if you use 8 power while shooting close paper....
  11. I have been shooting my versamax for at least 3 years now and once I got the light primer strikes figured out, it runs pretty flawlessly. However, I was wondering what spare parts I should be carrying with me to matches since I do not have a backup gun. Does anyone have a list of springs and things that I should keep on hand to keep my trusty shotgun running.
  12. Try Brownells. It is a 10-22 flip up sight. I tried having one put on my versamax but it was too tall and didn't adjust enough. So we tried shortening it but it broke (on both attempts)
  13. John, Yeah, I don't know why our club shoots on Sunday.... I have a couple friends who would like to attend but are unable to as well due to church obligations. But it has been that way for 30 years I believe and I doubt it will get changed! I will certainly look for you this Saturday and introduce myself! Thank you for your compliments, undeserved but very kind. I started shooting in 2013, so 4 years. Las cruces is having an all steel match on Thursday nights at 6:00 or 6:30. You might consider shooting that. It is a ton of fun.
  14. Welcome! Sorry about the holster malfunction at the La Luz match, but thank you for coming out to shoot our match. I assume the third match you are talking about will be In Las Cruces? I will more than likely see you there! Diana
  15. Will the 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide hurt titanium?
  16. I shoot my 2011 a ton here in the desert sw in 100+ degree temps, sometimes up to a thousand rounds a week. Loading 40 major with tite group. There are times when the gun gets so hot I can't pull the slide back. I have NEVER melted a fiber optic rod.
  17. Welcome from Alamogordo. (We missed you at our match yesterday) You lucky dog! I am so jealous. I want an open gun too! I'm sure you will get it slicked out in no time and will have a blast with it.
  18. How did you determine that the C/L of the barrel was offset?
  19. Thanks every for the replies. So I traded out bolt/carrier with the husbands today (thank you Hurley, that was a wise idea) and same problem. So it is definitely not extractor/ejector. I backed off gas enough to where it wouldn't always feed the next round out of the mag, let alone lock back, but the cases did eject. I also tried giving it way too much gas just for knowledge, and that didn't work either. So next test is what DocMedic suggested and we will see what happens there.
  20. It is currently getting just enough gas to lock back. I adjusted up in 1/8th increments till it locked back. I did that yesterday. This morning when I went out, it wouldn't lock back so I gave it another 1/8th turn and it locked back. It is not getting too much gas. Rounds land at the 2 o clock position.
  21. Haha! I just may do that...... Rounds landing at the 2 o'clock position. I did give it more gas and it didnt help. Bumped it up a quarter turn right before Heman. Still did it. Bumped it up another quarter turn at Heman. It still did it.
  22. It has been doing this off and on throughout the time since I put in the lmos and new bolt, roughly 1500 rounds. At Heman, for example, it did it twice per stage on 4 of the 6 rifle stages. We started adding gas after the first stage it did it on, thinking perhaps I was under gassed. That didn't help so we put it back where it was. It does lock open when you shoot the last round out of the mag, for what that is worth.
