  1. Apparently (according to facebook) practiscore did not shut off at the predetermined amount so if you are #286 or more, you are actually on the wait list and not in the match. Only, I do not know how to tell what # I am.......
  2. Anyone know where I can find one of these??? I should add that it is for a smith and wesson 1911 45 acp. Thanks for any help.
  3. So can a person go prone with the loaders on the front of their belt and not leave all the shells on the ground, in your opinion?
  4. I think in some ways our 870 is easier to quad load than my versamax..... (But the port has been opened up quite a bit). I shot it at Heman Nats. Its biggest problem (aside from operator malfunction ?) was ejecting spent slug hulls. Almost had to beat the thing open....
  5. I tried shooting the 980 fps Winchester loads when my VM was pretty new and it wouldn't cycle. After at least a half a year of practice and shooting matches, some accidentally made it into the mag tube. At first I thought I had a squib, but when the targets went down I realized what happened. So yes, VMs can cycle 980 fps and yes, they are silly soft!!!
  6. I wanted to thank Jim Smith, Sheldon Compton, Brooke Hammond, Sandra Ordvig and all the rest of the staff for making this year's match a great one. They worked hard to fix all the problems from last year and did a great job. The match ran very smoothly with very few hiccups. I had a blast! It was extremely cool to be on a squad when a large portion of the shooters finished in the top 35. Being able to watch Nick Atkinson power his way to another win was incredible. So much to learn from watching these guys break down and shoot stages! Plus our squad was also extremely hard working! Every one worked hard. It made for a great weekend! Thanks to everyone for everything!
  7. The match book says to start at 0800 tomorrow. The schedule you posted on here says 0730. Which is correct?
  8. . I know of someone else who had to send theirs back to Burris when the guts came loose as well. Hasn't happened yet to mine and I sure hope it doesn't. Otherwise I absolutely love mine. I made sure my 300 yard dot was on at 300 yards and the 400, 500, 600 yd lines are all spot on. Two things I would change are exposed turrets and the dual plane reticle.
  9. I'm certainly not qualified to post here, but thought I would share my experience. My rifle would group just fine at 100 yds. 1 Moa or less. But I was struggling with 300 yds and out. I just figured I was a sucky rifle shooter. But I put it on paper at 300 yards off a good rest just to see what it was doing and the groups were huge. Like 6-10". I was still pretty sure it was just operator error since I am not a very good rifle shooter but I decided I wanted a longer barrel (had a 16" on it) so I ordered a JP barrel. When we pulled off the old barrel, it was quite apparent it was not operator malfunction. There was absolutely no throat left in the barrel!
  10. I just wanted to thank Denise, JJ, all the fabulousa RO's and staff, and the NRA Whittington Center, JP and all the awesome sponsors for putting on an awesome match! I had a great time. The stages were a ton of fun and the people were awesome! I can't wait till next year! I just can't promise I won't be chopping down any more trees....
  11. Hello Nick! Welcome to the forum! My husband and I should see you this Sunday in Alamogordo for the all classifier match. Maybe you can bump up to B then.
  12. So it is not just my rotten luck to have forcing cone areas that look like they were cut by a four year old using a chipping hammer. I just bought a replacement barrel for my VM and it had a marginally better forcing cone in that it wasn't all gouged and chipped, just rough as can be.... I looked down a friend's Benelux barrel and the whole thing shone like a mirror. Remington might want to work on their quality control!
  13. "3 gun stuff" does. I have one and really like it.
  14. I have this scope with sfp. It is a great scope! I have looked through a ffp and as others have said, the reticle is useless on 1x. natchez just so happens to have them on sale for $499. Bushnell is discontinuing the btr1 reticle, I believe, according to the people at SWFA. So if you are thinking about it, you might want to act soon.
  15. I can't seem to find B&P slugs anywhere online. I previously ordered them through aerostaroutdoors and when I search for them through their product search, they have the item listed but it says product not found. Does anyone know where I can find some?
  16. And it can be done with a trusty old 1100, which Mr. Bednorz is absolutely amazing with.... ?
  17. You could always throw in a dummy to drag around, triple the round count and turn it into an "ironman" style match, just sayin....
  18. (This is coming from someone with self confidence issues who is working on this very thing.....) but it sounds to me like what Lanny Bassham says to do.... To not dwell on the mistakes but focus on the things you did right.. The whole "that is like me" bit. And he does say that you should do that but I would think just not in the middle of the stage ?
  19. Go to the Fallen Brethren 3 Gun web page. Click on register. Scroll down to the bottom an click on the square picture of a t-shirt at the bottom of the page.
  20. Same thing happened to me. Triple checked the number and it WAS correct but kept getting te same error message. Used the husbands card and got in.
  21. I just tried listening to music while dry firing the other night. What a great way to shut off that stupid inner voice that wants to chat while I am trying to practice and take my focus away from just "doing".
  22. I have a carbon arms versa tube on my versamax. The tube extension likes to loosen up during the course of fire (sometimes up to 1/4 of a turn or more). I think this may be contributing to my light primer strikes because that nut is what holds the barrel on to the receiver. So if that nut is loose, the barrel can bounce when the hammer falls, and perhaps cause a light primer strike. (Not sure if that is actually the cause of my dreaded light primer strikes as I am still chasing the solution to this problem, but the tube does in fact loosen up and I would like it to remain tight.) So I was wondering what people are doing to keep their extensions from loosening up while shooting. I don't think locktite is practical since I will need to be able to remove the extension tube so I can take the gun apart to clean it and such... But are there any other suggestions?
