  1. Same cut and it works great. I prefer this plate as it's a bit cheaper than the plate cut for a GLOCK-brand-GLOCK sight rear dovetail. I've run mine for a few years on 2 different guns. They are solid
  2. To be fair, USPSA has held Nationals in a hurricane so less wind in Tulsa is how I read that
  3. It's super easy. MD goes into the master, edits that string and resubmits to PS. Download the result file again, re-upload as a correction and done. No additional fees, scores will be updated next Wednesday. It's less than 3 minutes of work.
  4. Anyone have a nice starting point for an old Trubor in 38SC with 124's and 3N38? Going to try my hand at Open in October
  5. A few separate things going on here. Leading Leading hasn't been an issue for me since I shoot either Syntech or jacketed bullets now. Previously shooting Blues buildup was mostly carbon as well. HiTek coated bullets are notorious for leading in comps. Open guys have known this for decades but if you're running a comp, do yourself a favor and shoot JHP's or now quality coatings that wont burn off. Carbon Prevention Typically I see more carbon buildup and there's a few things you can do to limit that. First, Titegroup, while amazing, accurate and cheap, is dirty. It also burns hot compared to other powders. If you can run either Bullseye or better Sport Pistol carbon buildup will go down significantly. N320 is also cleaner burning but VV is somewhat unobtanium during parts of the year. Cleaning For shrouded barrels, the JP barrel has a port cover that you remove to clean the crown of the barrel for their 22LR and 9mm Ultralight barrels. I've cleaned my 9mm version once. It was not difficult, I just just chipped it out with a dental pick. That buildup was mostly just carbon. I'm currently testing whether the Hoppes Gun Medic is sufficient to prevent buildup in that type of barrel. For my 22 shrouded barrels, I'm also testing the Gun Medic trick. I did run a bunch of lead 22 for a while but I'm not terribly concerned. Mini Mags are a bit more accurate in the JP-22 though so that helps. The Clean 22 was also bomb for reducing buildup and dang did it shoot soft! For an actual comp like the JP-5, the Hoppes Gun Medic has been an angel sent down to personally make my life easier. I do a quick spray the comp before or after I shoot as I can remember and buildup is reduced drastically. Hoppes works far better than the lanolin spray trick because it also removes whatever buildup accumulated. Other things that work have been: Soaking in Boretech, though it takes longer than the Hoppes. Super easy to soak the crown Dental Pick is likely the fastest but you have to be careful with the crown Dremel might be faster than the dental pick in the ports, not used on the crown JP-5 The JP-5 is by far the best way to go for a PCC.
  6. I'm adding Open natties to my schedule now. I'll be there for PCC too so might as well have fun! On one hand this saves me 7 hours each way of driving and of course the questions about CO in general. On the other hand I'm having to re-schedule my Wyoming elk hunt. No big deal there since we are doing a DIY anyways.
  7. Travelling to Cameo was about as easy as it gets. You fly into Grand Junction, get an inexpensive hotel, and 15 minutes later you're at the range. It might not be centrally located for folks that drive which I would really prefer. But once you do get there everything is extremely close to the range facility itself. I disagree with 2 Gun not having a very broad appeal. The first year the match had 224 folks attend. In my opinion it was the best match I shot that year, by far. The format is extremely fun and way easier for folks to get into as a Multigun format. Not to mention nobody actually enjoys the shotgun portion of Multigun. 2022 obviously suffered from internet stuff but even before that the folks that normally would drive the 10-11 hr trip maximum decided the 17+ hours was simply too far. When locations were announced, folks also questioned the location due to the questions around state law. What nobody knew, except folks that had been there previously for matches, was that Cameo itself was phenomenally accommodating. The month prior there were apparently full auto helicopter demos with drum mags at another event. 2 Gun Nats in 2021, and now in 2022, was my favorite match of the year. I think with the right support the match could easily pull 300 entries next year.
  8. My favorite story of my GMR was running 4 shooters through a 250 round falling steel match suppressed. It doesn't really matter how dirty the GMR gets, if you keep adding oil it will run. If your bullets are not making it into the chamber, check your magazines for dirt then check the followers for wear then replace the springs if you haven't in a year. If you are not using GLOCK-Brand-GLOCK mags, replace whatever other mags you are using immediately. The GMR platform is stupid reliable. Always, always, always check your magazines when you clean your gun. If a mag hits the ground, unload and clean it before running it again.
  9. Then you passed chrono. You've got a fast barrel. Awesome! Poppers will go down more often. In my Shadow 2 I achieved 137 PF with the 150's. In a couple different PCC's with 10" - 14" ish barrels I'm between 140-145. None of that matters other than all of those PF's are greater than 125. Guys waste years of their lives trying to get 125 PF with this and that reload when really all that time could be spent dry firing, live fire practicing and improving. If the rabbit hole is where you find happiness that's awesome. Go down and chase it. If you want reliable ammo that meets PF, there's plenty of great options. Go shoot
  10. Order the Federal Syntech 150 grain loads. It's going to be as close as you can get to your goal of softest possible recoil and it's certified so you're good at chrono. Bonus, it runs clean and cool.
  11. After staring into the sun on East/West facing ranges one too many times, I can confidently say the giant circle in a holographic like the UH-1 is my new favorite. The center dot might wash out like every other optic, but that giant circle is still there for me to pick up. At the NTX Open last year I was able to slam A's into a head shot / no shoot directly into the morning sun on our first stage because of that big circle. My buddy running a single dot slammed a beautiful pair into the A zone as well, except his was in the no shoot because he had to point shoot it
  12. I'll wear my compression gear to the Infinity Open if you'll be there . Coming off 5 months train up for Nationals I should be looking prime.
  13. Bingo! The numbers don't lie. Keep CO as is and focus effort on bringing new people in. Keep the yearly rule overhauls to IDPA and Multigun.
  14. A GMR-15 ready rifle will be your best bet on reliability. All 3 models are under your budget and you can spend more time having fun at the range. If you want lightweight go with the ultralight. I love that one because it's great for USPSA and also sweet for Steel Challenge.
  15. I also have an order in. You're going to be very, very happy when it ships
  16. Is 28,000 rounds good enough? That's where I'm at at least. Still going but I know others are higher.
  17. If the premise of the thread is focusing on providing suggestions for improving the overall sport, why focus on small, boring issues. It's not drift, it's pulling the argument out of the weeds to look at real questions instead of a bunch of long time shooters asking "Is a 3 s or a 2.95 s penalty appropriate for no movement in OL?" Why not make BIG changes now that there's someone passionate about the sport included in BOD meetings?
  18. I'd like to shift the focus back to growing the sport and not wasting time on issues 95%+ of shooters wont think about. How do you get more people involved and retain them once they try the sport?
  19. I've gone pretty light with loads. It can be done with the 5 stainless short stroke but it's going to depend on a few things. The old 9mm SCS (4 stainless) was easier to get to run with that little weight. Realize you're running pretty stupid light with 80 PF... SCS Spring Weight: Might as well just swap to the lightest spring to start with. Powder and Seating Depth: When you get really light, depending on your projectiles you may need to fiddle with this for optimal feeding and function. Too long and you might not get great cycling. A nice fluffy, fast powder will help too. Mags: Remember spring pressure is going to slow the bolt. Download your mags and maybe even stick with 10-15 rounds in the 17 rounders. Lube: Keep the bolt WET with a nice light oil. Mobil 1 5w20 is great. Or just grab a packet of that Hoppes single use, maybe for every stage. It's not that it wont run a match without lube. It's that you're not putting much energy into cycling so fouling will play a bigger role. Don't take chances I've seen guys do the aluminum weights but the lighter you go there the less deadblow you're going to have from the buffer to work on a blow back bolt. With a light SCS spring that's not ideal. Not saying it can't be done but I would avoid going this route.
  20. Bingo!!! People stay at home because they don't know or don't have a mentor. Focus effort on the big picture.
  21. It is every member's inherent responsibility to help grow the sport. The mission of USPSA is, "To promote safe, fair and fun participation in Practical Shooting competition." The point is there are a hundred other ways to get people involved. Our focus should be on the big picture, not bickering about stages.
  22. Show me the matches that are currently being held that would in any way grow or increase attendance by adding 2 stages. How, specifically, does this grow the sport? What stops that exact same range from running the smaller stages? Your plan has nothing to do with putting in the work to get matches going. I see no value in your plan to add stages. It does not offer any assistance to current clubs to increase voice, reach, access to equipment or opportunities. Your proposal does not have any effect on a person outside the sport. The only thing this does is waste resources better spent on tangible, proven ways to increase participation. Rather than focusing on wasting time, effort and resources on minutia within the sport, why not focus your efforts on the big picture. How for example would you get 10 additional new, never before attended a competition, to a local SCSA match? What plan would you implement to drive that goal? How would you go about convincing a range that does not currently host competitions to host SCSA events? If half the time was spent addressing big picture questions, instead of the nonsense about whether OL is "fair" in the sport or adding this or that stage would do this or that, SCSA participation would have already eclipsed USPSA participation by a significant margin.
  23. 25,000+ rounds later and anyone "waiting" to order one is just going to be behind. I've got my 2nd order in.
  24. I genuinely hope the board does absolutely nothing as far as rule changes for the foreseeable future.
  25. You're equally allowed to safely compete regardless of age or skill level. You are not entitled to change the game to suit you. That is unfair and against the mission statement.
