  1. I don't see why not. Glock did NiB slides for a while. They were great to troll people that said, "Get yourself a Glock and lose that nickel-plated sissy pistol." Fair warning, NiB tarnishes pretty quickly. If anything I'd think hard chrome would be the most common option of coatings on a 2011 to keep it looking like it does now.
  2. In a 223? No idea. I gave one of mine to a friend getting into the sport and it was still shooting under 1/2" at 100 over 10,000 rounds.
  3. Currently on my 3rd JP barrel for 3 gun. All 3 have been phenomenal. Every barrel coming with a new bolt is one point that is often overlooked.
  4. We both know you'll shoot awesome no matter what you load. Unless you're planning on going to WSSC, there's no point in loading up special stuff. If you are planning on going to WSSC, I would prep for 2 months with those actually proper sized bullets in the Short Colt. Once you get used to it, the lighter load was more like shooting your 22LR Glock instead of a Glock 19 with normal 9mm. There was a huge speed advantage that paid off in Roundabout, Smoke and Hope and Showdown in particular. Tracking the dot on those tiny transitions in Showdown was trivial with the light stuff. POI did change but if you run the same light loads for 2 months, no big deal.
  5. Depends what you pay them. It's not hard to get staff when you treat them right
  6. I've shot a bunch of factory American Eagle 115's. I found the 150 Syntech to shoot softer but if you like the 115's then go for it! Factory 115's will definitely be well above 130 PF. I liked 124's last year pretty well but 150's were also solid. In USPSA I'd say it's more preference than a clear winner. Steel Challenge is a very different game though and, without changing any parts, I would strongly recommend experimentation there!
  7. I think a bunch of us are going to hit the Wednesday Schedule between Nationals Bring your wheelguns buddy!
  8. Coming from a martial arts background, I treat dry fire without the timer as drilling individual skills. Generally this ends up being breaking down large items like full reloads into smaller drills aiming for 100% correct rather than par times. I treat training with a timer as the portion of my dry fire to push both to speed up over time but also find where the skills break down to drill again.
  9. I run the JP trigger. I like it very well and I've had a bunch of them still function with over 100k in blowback GMR loaner guns. I've never felt the need to change it.
  10. On the clock there's no way I could pick which locking piece was in it. Heck sometimes the only way I can tell the difference between 150's and 130's is the sound. I'm excited for everyone getting their JP5's in to start posting their initial impressions. I think once more people start giving feedback from longer sessions than a mag or two at a local folks will have a better idea of what the JP5 really is.
  11. This is exactly what I'm doing, minus the ammo part. With Open nationals being the week before PCC nationals I'm doing both this year. No need to drop a huge amount of money on an open gun when my buddy is joining me with his backup rig.
  12. I'll get ahead of both of y'all on this one. While I'm a fan of conspiracy theories, JP is not withholding parts to make more $$ down the road. I've used 80 degree and 90 degree pieces so far. Both have run everything I tested which was quite extensive. Could I perceive differences? If I really got down to nit picking things, yes. Unless you absolutely have all the time and ammo in the world to test for a couple thousand rounds just buy the JP 5, pick a locking piece, forget what it was, and run it for an entire season. The difference in JP5 lock pieces is so infinitesimally minimal compared to the JP5 vs any other PCC it's laughable. Literal laughter has been the first reaction of most folks when they run mine compared to their PCC. I couldn't stop laughing the first 500 rounds we put through mine.
  13. Well either I can't read or you forgot everything is a competition!
  14. Swap them for new/clean ones. You asked fastest after all ! Jokes aside we do swap clean parts in for dirty ones at the office when it takes too long to clean stuff and can't justify the downtime. Then again, you could swap to a JP-5 and not clean for a while. Just trying to save you time in the long run buddy!
  15. I use CCI Mini Mags for everything if I want to stock 1 ammo. They are absolutely amazing. If someone is having issues at our SCSA matches we can usually resolve them with either a) cleaning with a spray down of Hoppes Gun Medic (please clean your gear) or b) switching to Mini Mags for the rest of the match. The CCI Clean is a great value option if your rifle / pistol like it. My JP-22 and 10/22's both ran this stuff fine but my CZ Kadet couldn't. The Kadet needed extra velocity to cycle. The Federal BYOB's are also a great value option. And yes, believe it or not, the new Remington stuff is higher quality. I have an old 622 that would only cycle Golden Bullets. The old stuff wouldn't run most of my other guns but now the GB's and TB's cycle most of my stuff. The powder isn't as clean as the CCI or Federals but if you can find the buckets they will likely get you through in a pinch or for a ton of practice. I also prefer to run plated stuff to reduce lead fouling in semi autos. Most of my 22's do not have comps but again, it's easier to stock 1 thing than 7.
  16. I'd still rather people focus on things that will move the needle. 18 people in an area. Is that your USPSA Area? Because that number is still exceedingly low. Are all 18 shooters members? Have any of them emailed their Area Director? I got off the proverbial porch to play in a dead division because of our revolver guy being so outgoing and welcoming. For 8 years he's been 1 of maaaaybe 4 active revolver shooters in our Area I can think of. I'll always design matches to be revolver friendly as best I can. But at the end of the day, it's a novelty. Nothing is stopping you from continuing to run your rimfire wheelgun in SCSA in a current division. Betting lunch and beating your rimfire revolver homies at a match is still more fun than a silly plaque anyway. All you're asking for with "Recognition" is a plaque.
  17. I know it feels like all 3 of you were slighted, but the reality is there are not enough participants to make any difference. The best way to change that is to be a good enabler like our "Token Revolver" guy Jason. He's let a ton of people borrow his wheel guns and gear to the point that there were 5 entries out of 45 at our last local SCSA match. Most of those folks wanted to do it because Jason showed them it was fun. When you've got 300 people competing weekly in revolver rimfire you might be able to get some attention.
  18. Shooting Nationals and having your rear sight break off on the first stage makes you real happy you borrowed a backup. I'll never travel to a match without a backup gun. 3 gun can be a real pain unless you have a buddy with a similar setup but even then, it's still worth it!
  19. I can send you Rowdy's info, just send me the email before him so I can show him I got it before he did. It's not about being first, it's about Rowdy being second
  20. Ran great in a buddy's when I shot it. If I were shooting much limited anymore this is what I'd run for matches.
  21. Fun fact, years ago I just followed @kurtm's advice on a litany of topics and my scores improved dramatically. Why? Because my gear always worked and I had way less to think about. There are shortcuts in this game. Take the advice from guys that have been winning forever.
  22. 1. Are you surprised there are more pcc shooters registered than prod? 2. Do you feel one group will strongly feel the match was "their style"? 2A. Or can it be truly neutral? 3. If this wasn't required due to exigency, what are your thoughts on this pairing? 3A. Very few squads are mixed, they are a definite majority one division or another. Does this matter? 1) Not really. Production is mostly dead except for the guys coming for titles after LTD. 2) I don't understand this question. You design stages and matches to be fun for everyone regardless of division. Designed for minor scoring and accommodating 8 rounds per position, you prod guys should be blazing through any USPSA stages with those extra 3 rounds! @shred brought a similar point up in a different thread but I'll re-phrase it here. People will whine about PCC being in a pistol match, they will whine about PCC not being in a pistol match, they will whine about a PCC standalone match being host after MG nats and crushing MG attendance, they will do everything except have fun! I agree with @TonytheTiger on this. I'm competing against other PCC's. Just like there's not a single Revo shooter comparing their performance to Open, we compete within divisions. And yeah, I also shoot enough "real rifle" games that I don't think the whining about PCC not being tested has any basis in reality. If you want to test a rifle in a rifle application, chamber it in something other than a pistol caliber. 3) I'd have preferred Irons and Optics Nationals similar to 9 days. Open/PCC is such a fun dynamic in a USPSA match. LTD and Prod don't necessarily pair as well but at the end of the day I'd shoot any permutation of the divisions. I'll answer all 3 questions with one statement. As soon as USPSA announced Nationals was Open/LTD and PCC/Prod I kept my PCC entry AND signed up for Open. If there's a USPSA Nationals in a fun location I'm down to shoot it. 2 Gun - Shot it. CO - Signed up. Open - Signed up, borrowed a gat. PCC - You couldn't keep me away!
  23. Tulsa, by far, would be my choice for Nationals. It's super convenient to get to flying or driving. It's central and there's enough bays for a 20+ stage match plus vendor bays, side shoots and other festivities. St. George has some bomb food but I haven't seen the new bays. I've heard they were small but 2019 was a fun match. Vegas is easy to get to but I haven't seen the range so, IDK. Frostproof isn't a bad option even though it kind of sucks getting there. At least the range can do a huge match.
  24. Not that date because it's right smack dab in the middle of A4 USPSA, NTX Open and Nationals but...maybe in the spring
