  1. 5-40 screws can be had, you just have to know where to look. Many moons ago I used to race RC cars and some of the cars required special screws, you got it they were 5-40s! Check your local hobby shop and you should be able to find them. I picked up a 10 pack localy for about $4 and cut them to length. When I got mine the store I went to had them in a black oxide finish as well as in stainless steel. Hope you find that your local store has them in stock but if not they should be able to order them for you. Online hobby shops are helpful for oddball screws as well. Good luck. Joe W.
  2. For me, I go by how many hours it has been used, not the number of times it has been used. I usually change it every thousand hours or so. Since I shoot mostly indoors it isn't that big of an issues for me but I usually run my brass a day or two just cause I like it extra shiney. lol Joe W.
  3. I have used several cases of the 121 IFP and love them. They are every so slightly oversized, mine mic out at 0.3555, so out of an older gun they can help with accuracy. For minor I have run them over Hodgdon HP-38. I was running 5.8 grains at 1.250 OAL. I never did crono them but they were clearly in the realm of minor. You might start a few tenths under that and check over a chrono then work from there. Joe W.
  4. You guys beat me to it, Longshot has worked for me for years and will keep working until I give up shoot or die *which ever comes first lol* Joe W.
  5. I do love my old Tasco "Beer Can" PDP5 CMP for this reason. Four different dot sizes on the same tube. The small dot for using on shots requiring a good deal of accuracy and the bigger dots for speed. But because of the way the dot size is changed it can be prone to breakage. I found that out on my single stack Open gun in .45 that I use for shooting bowling pins. Joe W.
  6. No date stamp but with the STI tubes, the pre ban tubes have four holes on each side *at least the tubes I have seen* and the post ban have two holes on each side. Anyone else noticed this? Joe W.
  7. Been there and done that one myself. Our club runs classifiers once a month and I always try and match up the classifier stage with a second squirter stage that should somewhat even out against a nice field course. Not always easy and sometimes I fail but I keep trying. Joe W.
  8. Local outdoor match, shooter was using an inside the waistband holster. On the draw of the first stage he pulls out the gun with the holster still on it! Safely, without sweaping his hand he removed the holster and kept shooting. The hard part came at unload and show clear, his holster was back up range about 30 yards. lol Yep, that would put a kink in things and make shooting a little hard. Joe W.
  9. I shoot the spring rate I do because it works. Much heavier and my Open gun will not cycle 100% As for feel, 9# or 15# it still FEELS like a gun to me but at 15# it is a single shot, bolt action Open gun. Joe W.
  10. I was wondering this very same thing. Thanks for the info guys! Joe W.
  11. I run Peltor Tac 7 elctronic muffs over a pair of Peltor 30 Cal ear plugs. Shooting Open indoors is murder and even doubled up I still have ringing in my ears at the end of the night. When I am actually shooting I turn off the electronics but when pasting and scoring I turn them on so I can hear what is going on around me better. Joe W.
  12. The list has grown, now there are THREE things you should never do naked. Fry bacon, use power tools or shoot a USPSA stage. LOL Just when you think you will never have that mental image again someone brings up THAT stage. Never say NO ONE, you just never know when Cliff will show up. lol Joe W.
  13. As others have said, just because everyone else is doing it that way doesn't mean you have to. Shoot to your stengths and weaknesses. If given the option to shoot the same target from a few locations, shoot it from the one that gives you the best chance at the better points more quickly. It can also come into play when managing your ammo, shoot so that you can reload more effectively. Joe W.
  14. Legal and looks like a lot of fun! Flex, I have seen targets that looked like Eddy Van Halen's guitar from back in the day. LOL Joe W.
  15. Welcome to the nut house. Shooting while sick? Yep, already addicted. lol Hope you get all better before your next match. Joe W.
  16. As much as I love my StageCAD I really should look into using SketchUp soon. Joe W.
  17. Now that I FINALLY have a Production gun I guess I need to get out the goodies and shoot me some photos of the blaster and soon. lol Joe W.
  18. WANT!! Now I am really, REALLY wanting to build me up another lil bb slinger. Joe W.
  19. There is always something to learn, even in these old threads. lol Joe W.
  20. I have been running 8.2-8.3 out of my STI 5.5 Eagel (old school Open gun but still runs and shoots tight) with MG 124 JHP and last time I cronoed them it was cooking along at a 173.8ish power factor. Kansas Spring time with about a 70 degree day if that helps. Be warned though, as the temp goes up your velocities will go down. Joe W.
  21. Shot a stage several weeks back. Thought I had it all figured out and was even the match director that OKed it! Walked it five or six more times before I shot it and I STILL missed one whole target and had extra holes in a few others! It was a 28 round stage and on unload and show clear I had one round in the mag after starting with 30 rounds in the gun and I thought I had made up some extra shots in the middle! Not my brightest moment. lol Joe W.
  22. Would love to see some pics in its latest incarnation. Joe W.
  23. It is a little lighter now, not as much rifling as it had when I weighed it before. Joe W.
  24. I finally got mine about the middle of last year and I LOVE it!! I have used it with my Open pistol, a few compound bows and now need to work up some data with my SP01. Hopefully in the next few months I can get the USB kit to hook everything to my laptop and the IR kit so I can shoot indoors. Joe W.
  25. When your grandmother buys you ammo for Christmas. Yep, it happened to me many years ago. She got me five bricks of .22 LR as I was shooting it a lot back then. lol Boy do I miss her. Joe W.
