  1. It isn't too big...if you are making canon barrels. lol You don't move something this big into your shop, you BUILD your shop around it. Joe W.
  2. Been there, done that WAY too many times. I usually set up 40+ stages a year, add in classifiers and it is always over 50 a year, been at it for the last seven years so you can imagine how many stages I have set up. Because I shoot in a club that meets every week and most of the time the other stages are made up on the fly I do take time to draw mine up in advance and I find myself over thinking my own stages. Yeah I tank hardest on my own stages, missing targets totally, shooting the same target from more than one position, you get the idea. lol Joe W.
  3. You got that right. Most people see that huge pin and just throw lead at it. But you are right, the sweet spot to hit on those pins is the size of a 12 ga shotgun hull. The club I shoot with just had our 25th anniversary this year, the oldest pin shooting club still around. Our club shoots on 4x8 tables placed 25 feet from the shooting line to the front edge of the table. Two or three shooters at a time are started with one of the R U Ready timers and the timer stops when the last pin hits the ground by a person hitting a button as the last pin touches ground. There are tons of events that we shoot, regular five pin tables with Major set 6 inches from the front edge of the table, Minor is set half way back on the table and .22 are set 12 inches from the rear of the table. From there you have 8 pin revolver, 9 pin auto, shotgun, 10 pin hostage *a pair of target pins placed behind a single no shoot pin with 2 seconds added to your time for each no shoot you hit*, pin tops for the .22s, pin bottoms, team events and the list goes on from there. TONS of assorted games you can play. When I get a chance I will be re-adding the videos to our clubs web site as well as get the printable targets up as well. Feel free to check the site out, there is even a copy of the rules as we play the games you can read through. http://pinblasters.tripod.com Joe W.
  4. With the right load, a .45 is the perfect pin gun. Big, fat bullets going as fast as you can safely push them devistate pins at our local club. Now shooting with a 9mm or a .22 can be MURDER! Joe W.
  5. I got mine last week. RO and the clubs contact person through the USPSA. Joe W.
  6. Kansas City area: 10-15 USPSA a month all year long, indoor and outdoor 1 or 2 IDPA if I remember right a month all year long 5-6 Bowling pin matches a month all year long, indoor and outdoor Joe W.
  7. Having been to Greece before, this would be a fun way to see some of the sights. Joe W.
  8. I wonder how well it would go over if offered as an additional shirt offered for sale? I really liked the black shirts from last year, this years blue ones didn't really grab me but if you offered a TehcWear type version of the match shirt with all the sponsors I would absolutly buy one of those. Just an idea. Joe W.
  9. 2010 USPSA Open/Production Nationals, 14 round stage, one 29 round big stick and two 22 round smaller mags. You just never know when one mag will tank on you mid-stage. 32 pieces of steel. I helped RO that stage and I can't tell you how many shooters ran out of ammo before they got to the end of the stage. Joe W.
  10. Challenging and freakin tough: 2010 KS Sectional, Hickock Standard. Fixed time, Virginia count. String 1: 75 yards freestyle, 2 rounds on T1, 4 seconds String 2: 50 yards freestyle, 4 rounds on T2, 4 seconds String 3: 25 yards freestyle, 6 rounds on T3, 4 seconds Joe W.
  11. More like a Rhodes trip! LOL You made a funny! Bad puns are better than no puns. Joe W.
  12. Even shooting open I carry more ammo than I think I may need. One big stick and two small ones plus a barney round for a total of up to 74 rounds. I have two more mag pouches on my belt *one is used for the barney mag* just in case I think I might get into trouble on a stage. If it looks BAD I can load up with four big sticks at 29 rounds each, one or two more little sticks at 22 rounds and a barney mag for a total of 139 to 161 rounds on my belt and in the gun. There are just some days when you can't have enough ammo. ROFL Joe W.
  13. Don't forget Fat Burger, Carl's, Subway, In And Out Burger, McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and the like Joe W.
  14. They had bottled water on every stage during the match. Joe W.
  15. LOL I am glad I didn't get into this one myself. 7 NS 7 M 12 D Yeah, that would have set me back a few bucks. But I did better this year than I did last year. Now that I KNOW what my ammo will be running at I can get a little more aggressive if I make the trip next year. It really sucked not being able to chrono my ammo before I shipped it to the match. lol Joe W.
  16. Very well stated. Joe W.
  17. That is the reason I double plug, shooting indoor does that to me. LOL Joe W.
  18. Sometimes, shooting indoors isn't such a bad thing. 49 matches this year for our club. Joe W.
  19. Shooting it this week, should be another fun one. Joe W.
  20. LOL I was running my video camera on most of the stages the first two days we shot and still camera on the last day. Shoot me a PM with your e-mail and I will send you the pics of you two. In the next few days I hope to get some of the photos posted on the forum here and then work on getting a video together. 11 shooters, five stages a day for two days, yeah I have a LOT of video footage to sort through and edit into something worth posting to YouTube. Oh crap!! Jerry better watch out! Flex, there is this local company that makes some darned good stuff and you made me think of one of their products. Pain Is Good Hot Nuts Joe W.
  21. I am going to have to give this one a try!! Thanks for the info. Joe W.
  22. Any time! Hope to see you there next year. Joe W.
  23. +1000 I agree that there needs to be more of an effort to bring Juniors into the sport, they are our future and we need to treat them as such. Our club has one junior shooter and whenever we have new shooters come into the club I let them know about Junior shooters in case they have kids. This year I was lucky enough to shoot with two Juniors and it was great seeing them take on the stages. Heck, at the awards gathering I wish they had made more of an effort to congratulate the Juniors. I was lucky enough to be seated with a few of the Juniors and I made sure to try and let them know I was glad they were there competing and in some, OK most, cases kicking my butt and that I would be following their shooting careers as much as possible. If the kids aren't having fun they won't want to do it, if they don't keep up the sport it dies. Simple as that. Joe W.
  24. If I ever have to replace my 773s I think I will go with the CR Speeds. I never knew they came with all the spacers, I thought you had to buy those seperately. Thanks for the info!! Joe W.
  25. Well put. For me I try and get my hand on the gun to keep it secure while getting up from the seated position just to be extra careful. Joe W.
