  1. hey rowdy, yeah, that kind of sounds like my load, does it still feel like no recoil now that you've been shooting it for years? Yes it does. I to have done the load a mystery mag with 115s and a mag with 147s. I get tempted when i see how much cheaper 115s are. Then I do this test and I like the 147 mag better every time. My friends who shoot factory, I let them shoot a mag of mine and they always say "who, this is like cheating." hahaha. That's a 129pf versus a 145pf, goodness.
  2. i want to save money. i want to shoot open. those seem mutually exclusive to me. when i make ammo for people who offer me components i take 25% of what i make for them.
  3. i take a small hand file to mine to get the notch to .140. seems like there is always somethign to tinker with on these guns and i've never gotten two to be exactly the same. glad you found a set of sights you like!
  4. plated bullet 147 3.2 of titgroup winchester spp mixed brass 1.130 oal for cz. 1.150 for glock. .377 crimp love this load. have shot probably 20,000 of it in the past two years.
  5. Club matches here the SO gets dehydtrated and little time to be on deck. I understand i sign up to help tape, set steel and such. But I'm not gonna burn up a precious sunday driving the 2 hours one way to the only SO course near me then come back and set stages, run shooters, help tear down, shoot my own match and then pay the full fee everyone else does. In an all volunteer sport, some volunteers are more equal than others. To paraphrase Animal Farm.
  6. It is pretty much the definition of selfishness, but I'll never become a SO unless I get something out of it. All the clubs I shoot at give you zero break on the entry fee for being a SO. Unless I can shoot local matches for free or greatly reduced, I'll never become a SO. Do I do it at our local matches, yes. I run people probably 40% of the day but I'd prefer not to.
  7. shoot production and L10. and like mentioned just above, my L10 rig is exactly like my production rig. CZ or Glock, in either I run what would be a production legal set up.
  8. A 75 Shadow will not fit in the comptac international holster for a 75B very well. I have both and tried. the lower part of the slide forward of the dust cover is thicker on the shadow (NON sp01) versus the B model. In my experience getting one for .40 if you get a "B" holster or getting one for a 75 SAO seems to work better. Currently I am using a comptac SP01 belt holster with a small wooden spacer taped into it to fill in the space for the SP01 full length dustcover and just running my 75 Shadow in that holster. I am waiting on a custom owb holster from RLN and just based on my communication with them I would recommend one of their holstsers.

    CZ shooters

147 extreme. 1.130 oal. i tried 1.140 and that was too long.
  10. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.
  11. Out of my CZs the Blue Bullets were a "fast" bullet and I didn't neet as much titegroup as my plated bullets. For the 125gr rnfp bluebullet i also had to load fairly short, as I'm sure you've already read. like 1.115 where with the regular round nose i could load much longer. i know they've changed profiles since i last shot them. I would try 3.6 grains of titegroup as that's what i remember my load being.
  12. took slide off as a unit, put tape on sides of it and tape in vice. filed by hand till i got the width, (140) i wanted and a little more depth. left the lpa all in one piece all on the slide. retouched with sharpie. then cleaned that off and retouched with cold blue. looks great.
  13. Doesn't 10-8 also make Glock sights? Probably not for that model specifically but you could do the calculations and get the right front height. I've used the warren sevigeny competition sights on like 6 diff glocks and that's my first choice. fo front. plain black rear.

    CZ 9mm loads

147 gr round nose Xtreme bullets 3.2 grains Titegroup Winchester spp 1.130 OAL .377 crimp mixed range pick up brass round nose flat points i had to load very short. they were still very accurate.
  15. for action compeition, like idpa or uspsa i like a .100 or close to front and a .140 or close to rear. fiber optic front and black rear.
  16. Yep both great guns. Maybe I expected too much out of the SP01 Shadow......... I'm sure I'll end up with another one the end of this year. For me, my splits weren't better with the SP01 and my second shot on a target wasn't any better. But my draw was definitely slower and the gun took more effort to move around. (I'm only 140lbs and not that muscley) So for me, if my times aren't better and my hits aren't better with the SP01 then I'm choosing the 75 shadow as my draw is better, my transitions are more sure and I experience less fatigue shooting a lighter gun. To anyone also lucky enough to have both I say shoot bill drills, cold, back to back with each gun. That's how I'd decide which one to shoot. You get a draw and lots of fast follow up shots in that drill. A good blend to see what you think about the gun and an accurate way to test how you'll shoot it in competition. Going through my training notebook it reads like this for bill drills. for 75B. 2.23, 1point down. 2.16 sec. 2pnts dwn. so didn't shoot a clean one till later in the session, 2.80 clean. this was July 2nd, 2014 Safety on, SA trigger. for SP01 Shadow 2.60sec, zero down. 2.60 zero down. 2.62sec 1pnt dwn. this was March 13, 2014. Safety on, SA trigger. for 75 Shadow 2.53 sec. zero down. 2.44sec. zero down. 2.41 sec zero down. This was July 28th, 2014 and starting with a DA first pull.
  17. Here I am with the short dust cover shadow, mine does not have a beveled magwell like the SP01 I had did. I do wish it did though.... Slide lock reloads, shot to shot in 1.55. So to me, no loss in time. Now, when I put a real magwell on any of them I gain another .2 of a second if I've really dialed. Again, I primarily shoot IDPA so most of my times and practices are slide lock reloads. Speed reloads are in the .95 to 1.05 time for me if all goes well. Again, the time tells me I'm not losing anything.

    Dust covers

Full length dustcover gun= build it to ssp rules. can be shot in that configuration in esp or ssp. Short length dusctcover gun= build it to ssp rules, shoot it in ssp. trick it out to esp rules and shoot it in esp. That's how I've always understood this.
  19. I've skipped going to place for months for something less than that. I'd avoid them for a while. Let them see the other side of what an "being made an example" feels like. But on the flip side, maybe his dog died that day or his $3,000 gun was stolen or something. The whole, we all make mistakes thing. It's up to you to decide. But it sounds like a personal and or club issue, not an IDPA rule problem. (finally!!!)
  20. I'm thinking of just "walking on" to tell the truth as I've heard they won't turn you away if you just show up. Risky I know.....
  21. I just bought 8# of WAC to use for a minor 9mm load. I know it's not ideal, but we do what we gotta do in these times. Sadly my beloved TG does not grow on trees. Talking to others, I am gonna start at 3.9 of WAC under my usual 147gr plated bullet and go from there with the chrono.
  22. Kneeling is right. I started with a regular 75b that had been worked over by Automatic Accuracy. I then spend my own money on one of their SP01 Shadow guns worked over for production. I then got rid of that gun and got a 75 Shadow. I like the 75 Shadow best. My draw time was slower with the heavier SP01 and I was more likely to over run targets during a transition as the gun once accelerated was harder to slow down. I did love the trigger on my SP01 Shadow, but that isn't an effect of a heavy full length dust cover. My draw is faster, my splits are faster and my bill drill times are faster with the short dust cover 75 Shadow. All on paper, all documented with a timer. This may sound blasphemous but here is my take one something I hear and what I noticed from my experience. So grain of salt now...... With the SP01 people say "With the weight out front I get faster follow up shots 'cause of the less muzzle rise." Or something to that effect. What I think is happening is you're not looking at the sights as much and just hammering that second one and the weight of the gun is keeping it roughly where you were anyways. To me, that's not a technique I want to really ingrain. The weight of the gun allows a certain sloppiness if you ask me, that's what people are seeing and perceiving it to be a benefit. Just my opinion. When I shoot really fast, like a bill drill, my splits are .19 to .21 when doing well. Even at that speed which is beyond most the people shooting, it's not like I'm soo fast I'm waiting for the gun to go back into battery again. My trigger finger is never faster than the gun. Like I said, I think what people perceive as an advantge in the SP01 is something that is really just covering up poor sight picture and such. But hey, its only my opinion and you can't argue with results. Lots of people love it. If you are a competitive shooter, have mastery in fundamentals of your grip, sight picture and trigger control then you loose nothing in a 75 Shadow to an SP01 and in my case find you have some gains. Am I splitting hairs talking about hundreths of seconds? Yep. Can I feel the difference in running a 430z gun versus a 39oz gun, oh definitely. But me, in "the lab" with paper, timers, both guns, state matches with both guns and so on I do better with the 75 Shadow. To be honest this surprised me. I thought the SP01 was gonna be like a secret weapon. That shooting would be magically easier and the gun would never move. That wasnt the case for me. Would I take it if someone gave me another SP01 shadow? Of course. I have holsters and all that stuff for it, so yeah. I like the platform. I'd even give it another try in competitions and back to back testing again. See if I get the same result. But this second, I probably wouldn't shoot it that much and would see if I could sell/trade it for a 75 Shadow worked over by AA or CZC.
  23. Phew good! Thanks. Oh, and the persons asking about moving around on squads, in the past I've had luck emailing people directly and asking. I just stalk their info off the idpa websight.
  24. black grips, black frame, mag opening in shadow often, black magazines. to get an accurate and more importantly QUICK visual reference i find a white mark in the mag well valuable. a reason why mag wells work is because it allows you to be using your vision less in the reload and you need the magwells help to make the reload. get out your timer and see. no mag well, you better be using your eyes. if muscle memory was so awesome then a magwell wouldn't be a benefit. i find people jack up their reloads most often by not grabbing the mag off their belt in the best way, using a poor method to release the slide and finally not having the visual skill to shoot quickly and accurately after mounting the gun again. for me and many others, the paint mark is a great help. now you may not see top shooters make a real pronounced head movement down to the magazine, and others may not use the tactical "work space" style reload but you can have a pretty sure bet their vision is involved in a reload. i can for a fact do 1.5 second slide lock reloads, shot to shot, down zeros on a 7yrd target. this would be impossible without using my vision to verify the magwell and the paint dot helps that process.
  25. Build grand stands and televise it, charge them to watch our fun time. but yeah, i've seen people just come and go to watch and see what's up who aren't connected to any of the shooters in any way.
