  1. Vest- either the cotton or taclite 5.11 vest. i cut and sew on it to get it how i like. i've tried lots of vests, jackets, work shirts and so on and this is what i'd use unless having a custom one made. Shirt-close fitting cotton t-shirt. occaisonally I wear a wicking style tech t-shirt. normally blue or gray. sometimes i'll wear a totally "off" t-shirt just to throw people, kinda like the nerd glasses mentioned below. Hat-baseball cap of some sort. cammo or tan or whatever i grab. Glasses-Oakley sun glasses if sunny, or ray bans with clear lenses if not. hipster style. Belt-Wilderness tactical 1.5" in the stiffest version. Pants-5.11 taclite pants. belt loops in right spot, no jump pocket and I don't overheat. regular cotton 5.11 pants if cooler out. 5.11 taclite shorts. i did see a new brand i like, kitanica but i don't have the coin right now. Shoes-Saucony or Salomon trail running shoes if outdoors. Differing weights and aggresiveness depending on weather and terrain. high tech wicking socks as well. indoors i wear vans skate shoes as i slide less on concrete in them. Ear pro I use whatever. Hand drying spray or gel as needed if sweaty or rainy. my range bag is also just a regular jansen school backpack. i like for people to give me the once over and mentally say, "who is this guy?" as part of a competitive mind game. wear just enough gun/sponsor/support stuff to make them happy and then add my own style.
  2. getting into position-this is all figured out on the walk through. find a spot on the ground that can't be erased or moved and make it your mark to hit as you approach the barricade. if you don't have a mark to eye ball as a visual reference while running up to the barricade you are much less likely to hit where you need to be/want to be. getting on target more quickly- again, when doing your walk through, knowing where the targets are and how many of them is great. but as few targets as there are and with a written stage description i think you can spend more of your brain power/memory on remembering where your gun needs to be from one side of the barricade to the other in relation to the target. find a scratch, smudge, bullet hole or whatever so that you know pretty closely where the gun needs to be to be on the -0 as you present it around the barrel or wall or whatever. also, move your eyes to the target before you move the gun to it. dry fire set ups, with a timer, in your house or garage. 3' feet to the side and 3' back from a bianchi barricade. set targets up and a par time. transitions- do the stuff i just mentioned above. this is one thing where you can really increase your ability with dry fire as it is really about your visual ability and not your shooting ability. splits- bill drills, bill drills, bill drills. 7 or 10 yards. 6 rounds. anything out of the -0 means you failed. i will also give away one of my top secret tips for better splits. i set the metronome app on my phone to "click" at a pace that equals a click every .20 of a second, which is a pretty good split. then i will pull the trigger on my SIRT pistol for as long as i can at that pace while on one target at first and then transitioning between targets. there ya go!
  3. Where did you finish in your division? Have you asked Van or Leif or Bruce to look at you while you shoot?
  4. LIke a technical polo covered in logos is soo cool when matched with cleats..... But I will agree with the sentiment that it is OK to be a beginner and get a little excited about the sport and show it in the "outfit" you wear shooting. What is much less OK is to be a poser.
  5. Even though I shot below my potential, I'm still eagerly anticipating the results.........
  6. match bumped to expert in ssp. shoot the classifier at sharpshooter for esp and cdp. i do well at matches, horrible at the classifier.
  7. Ah my first post and already showing the answer was there but for my lack of completely reading the information. Thank you!
  8. Speaking of prize distribution...... 1. are there awards for placing in your individual class? for example if I am first in say idpa-cdp. 2. this awesome prize table, how are they distributed? is it raffle? or is it first place overall gets first pick and then downward? Thanks and I'll see you for practice Friday and the match over the weekend.
