    Glock 41 set up

My gen3 G34 holster from comptac holds my gen4 G41 perfectly. Now I'm confused 'cause I read a review of the g41 that said the frame was the same as the regular gen4 21, and not the SF.....
  3. OK, i get my first Shadow on tuesday the 27th. Embarrassing or not, I'm gonna do this and post the results.

    Glock 41 set up

So what is the frame of the G41? Is it a gen4 21 or 21sf?
  5. thanks monkee! i know you're stand up. sadly they didn't give me any real break on the fees...
  6. Hopefully I get my deposit back from a dude I borrowed some from here..... I get my sp01 shadow on tuesday!!

    Glock 41 set up

when you're looking at parts that aren't lableed G41 specifically, what are you buying off of? gen4 g21? gen4 21sf? gen3 21 or 21 sf? so far i've changed out sights, all the springs, dd connector, base pads, slide stop lever and polish job. undecided on recoil spring rod....

    Glock 41 set up

Yeah, changing up the recoil system to use my loads is something I would like to figure out better than just trial and error. Triggers? I know the springs and stuff I liked from my 21sf and my 34, so not worried about that. How effective are you finding the backstrap w the beavertail? I was gonna run small w no beaver taill, but I think my hands can manage the medium with it.... Sight heigt? 215? 245? I run the Sivigney fo front and flat black exclusively on glocks. I'm shooting a 230gr plated extreme bullet over 4.4 of titegroup.

    Glock 41 set up

I didn't find in search anyone talking about their set ups on the G41, for competition especially. Do they respond well to the normal glock stuff? Anything model specific or unique it setting it up? Does there seem to be as much aftermarket for it as the 34/35 models?
  10. 147 rnd nose extremes 3.2 titegroup 1.140 oal winchester spp mixed brass consistently 890-900 fps in all temps out of my g34, stock or barsto barrel
  11. another option i have seen is people putting a screw into the frame, allowing the trigger bar to only go so far forward. while this isn't pre travel it definitely is a way to make a 'short reset trigger' in your glock and not have anything visible from the outside. just not tons of material there, so proceed with caution.
  12. from the idpa.com website's rule book: 8.2.1.3. SSP Permitted Modifications (Inclusive list): 8.2.1.3.1. Sights may be changed to another notch and post type but slides may not be machined to accept different style sights in SSP. 8.2.1.3.2. Grips may be changed to another style or material that is similar to factory configuration and do not weigh more than 2.00 oz/56.7 grams more than the factor y standard weight for that model. 8.2.1.3.3. Magazine releases, slide stops, safety levers, de - cocking levers, hammers, and triggers, that are stock on one SSP legal firearm may be used on another SSP legal firearm from the same manufacturer provided they are drop in replacements. Parts in this list must come factory installed on standard production firearms. Special parts that are available installed only from a factory custom shop are not eligible in SSP. Effective 04/01/2014 so, if it's a trigger from another ssp legal cz and it's a drop in replacement and it's not from the custom shop only then you're good. and free to adjust the travel screws. that's why the 85 trigger is a popular mod.
  13. none of my cz's auto drop the slide when seating a magazine. i have even taken a file to where the stop inserts into the slide to increase this likelyhood and still nothing. i also installed a sp01 slide stop on my 75b and made a big difference. it was plug and play, nothing needed to be done to change it. my cz has been every bit as reliable as my glocks. i had to loctite a trigger travel reset screw as it was backing out and causing the trigger not to reset and that's been it. i consider that an initial set up thing, not a reliability thing. my cz likes my reloads to have a little shorter OAL than the glock.
  14. i shot a g34 for a year and then switched to a sao 75b, shooting idpa. i shoot groups half the size of the g34 with my cz at 25 yards off hand. i love the sao trigger. i love the minimal felt recoil of the 75b. with the glock being lighter i had a faster draw. i also had an easier time with hitting the slide release during reloads with the glock than the cz. it took me about a week of dry fire to get used takinf off a safety during the draw and the difference in my natural index w either pistol. i really like my g34 and that product generally. but my results in matches has improved shooting the 75b, both locally and at sanctioned as well.
  15. yep, having shot matches at prgc i know they put on a fun time.
  16. show up on time, let someone know you are new, sign waiver, pay. that's it.
  17. I shoot L10 minor actually. It's because I have a sao CZ with a magwell and L or L10 is really the only place to shoot it in uspsa. So I shoot L10 minor, as I'm used to having just 10 to play with from idpa and production in uspsa. If I had a major gun, I'd shoot that. But this way I get to shoot what I have and that's good enough for me. Just shooting local stuff so no biggie to me. Now I will be shooting my first sectional shooting L10 minor this summer, we'll see if i change my mind after that experience.
  18. for a similar bullet my oal is 1.100. and i actually use the "round" side of the seating die rather than the "flat" side of the insert and find i get a more consistent result.
  19. my trigger is 3.75 lbs on my digital trigger gauge very consistently. stock trigger but super polished with stone, buffer and so on. competition trigger spring ($3). over travel stop trigger housing. ghost connector($25). extended titanium striker and lighter spring($95). titanium plunger and lighter spring ($24). so about the cost of buying a name brand drop in trigger. i've also seen people put a screw inside the frame to limit the forward reset of the trigger bar. a neat trick, cheap and not visible unless the slide is off.
  20. There are fewer major matches in idpa versus uspsa. And when they are held they rarely have more than 150-170 shooters where it's not uncommon for a uspsa sectional or regional to have 250. It's also been my experience that fewer idpa competitors travel to events in the mm and ss classes versus C and B shooters. btw, see you at the C Cup this year.
  21. Huh, I am the exact opposite. I always get rid of my nickel brass. I seem to have more 2x the hiccups at size and deprime with nickel than i do with brass.
  22. I'm a fan of starting a drill by keeping the gun close to the point of where my hands meet. As the gun comes up I move my visual focal plane from target to front sights. While this is happening I am working my trigger press so the gun goes "bang" just before full extension. I do this drill at half speed, over and over and over again. That way I'm practicing almost all of what happens when I mount the gun to fire that first DA shot on that kind of platform. I try to do it equally dry and live fire. I find I build the mechanics better and make it a subconscious act by doing it mostly at half speed so that when the time come to GO then it fluidly happens and the timing is pretty right. Normally I just push a 6 ot 8" circle out to 7 or 10 yards for this drill.
  23. Does it feel softer than a 125gr bullet? I'm shooting 125gr bbi bullets right no and my cz loves them. Yes, to me it does feel softer. I have thousands of the 125 loaded up but I keep going back to the 147. When I shoot them 1 to 1 I can't tell a difference. But if I shoot mag A and then mag B completely I can tell you for sure which one is the 147gr mag. I like 147 as I can feel the gun go lighter as it empties, I like the recoil impulse, I like using less powder as powder is harder to find than projectiles and my sights are all set up for the poi of a 147gr bullet.
  24. Mine has changed to 147gr rnfp from The Blue Bullets, mixed brass, Winchester spp, 3.0 Titegroup. 1.120 oal. Out of a CZ 75b I average 900 fps all day, so a pf of 132.
