  1. I also load these - very satisfied thus far, loaded 5k+ 180 gr, mostly to major, but some to minor.
  2. I shot some .40 minor out of my gen 3 G35 this year, and used an 11 lb for a while, then went to the 13. I used the Jager extended rod with Wolff round springs. I have read talk about having to have a solid grip on the gun particularly with 11lb springs.
  3. i can fit 20 tight in new mags, and 20 reloadable in pre-ban mags with different followers. i recommend watching that dawson video about sanding the bottom back of the followers. Some of mine have a hump to get past round 18.
  4. thanks for the info. I like the price. Ordered.
  5. My RCBS just burned out for the second time, out of warranty. first one was within a yr warranty. this one i havent used in about a month and it wont turn on now. i never ran it for more than 3 hours at a time. what do you guys reccomend?
  6. i would definitely try down loading some 180 gr and lighter bullets. you may be pleasantly surprised.
  7. I prefer the factory flat (non-extended) version. I have small hands and can easily activate it with my strong-hand thumb. I found that occasionally when shooting IDPA, my high grip would hold down the extended slide stop and the slide would not lock back when empty.
  8. I ran a gen 3 G35 in this setup for about a year before recently going to a CK Arms 2011. The Glock served me well. grip tape factory non-extended slide release Warren Sevigny competition sight set - black rear- fiber front Dawson ice heavy magwell Jager heavy extended steel guide rod Wolff 15 lb recoil spring Jager striker Vanek custom super trigger - includes light plunger and striker springs wolff heavy trigger return spring TTI firepower extended basepads - got 19 reloadable, 20+1 to start with "new" Glock mags. I got 20 reloadable in pre-1994 mags. The trigger pull was a crisp 2.75 lb no take-up trigger, very nice for Limited division. I'm not sure an aftermarket barrel is really necessary, even with reloading coated lead bullets. I don't think slide lightening is necessary. The slide is already pretty light. There is a thread on here about lightening Glock slides, and some people don't like it as it makes the recoil more violent. I almost went with the frame weight this year, but as I said, I switched platforms.
  9. it is probably because you need more trigger time on the 2011
  10. I would think it also depends on how hard you grip the gun here..
  11. I have this setup, it yields 20 reloadable with untuned tubes. Will they fit a mag gauge? I just made 4 mags like this - they all fit the gauge, all fed fine, all fit 20 reloadable. It is a bit of a tight fit in the gauge, so I can see how maybe you could get a combination that wont work, but typically, I think it will.
  12. I load 180gr Ibejiheads coated bullets, which are similar to Bayou, with the EGW U die and Dillon seat and crimp dies. There is no need to buy a set of Dillon dies if you will not use the sizing die. You can save a few dollars by purchasing the seat and crimp die individually. The EGW U die is often referenced here to take care of bulged .40 brass (which may or may not be common now) Search is your friend. This forum has a wealth of information for reloading .40.
  13. Don't worry about brass with .40. Waste of time. The only instance I can think of where it might be meaningful is if this is for bullseye shooting. Develop each load independently. I really don't like the idea of using the same seating setting and getting different OALs and worrying about case volume. This seems a bit lazy. Develop the loads with a chrono as someone else mentioned and you should get some meaningful results.
  14. if i were you, i would adjust the seating die to the desired OAL for each bullet, not use one die setting for different bullets.
  15. If you are spending 14 paychecks on it, perhaps you should reconsider. That is a super serious decision. I shot in Limited division for about a year with a Glock 35, and placed quite well with it. I've practiced, dry-fired, read, and my skill has advanced... I feel it was time to consider getting something nicer as my % steadily increased to just below A class. I just recently ordered a CK Arms Limited gun after much consideration. IMO this is the best deal for a gunsmith fit 2011 out there right now. That said, there is no way I would do it if it was 14 of my paychecks.. Edit: I agree w/ 3djedi above: reloading is probably a better investment for you at this point. Go with a progressive setup.
  16. I also ordered a large box from here a while ago. A few .357 sig and 10mm snuck in there, so inspect that stuff before dumping it into the case feeder. The variety of .357 sig has been particularly troubling b/c if I miss it, when the sizing die punches out the primer, the primer pocket was so tight on a few that it ripped my de-priming pin right out of the die!
  17. Yea, on the OAL: I find that seating the flat points with the appropriate seater insert that contacts the flat tip of the bullet gives the most consistent OAL. This was on a Dillon 650 with a Dillon seating die. I used to load 9mm JHPs and the contact point was on the ogive, and as peter the fish says, the ogive seated OAL's vary more.
  18. maybe you should re-think using a $50 holster for a $2500 gun. get a race holster and that problem goes away.
  19. I'm not an open shooter, but I call BS on this. The presence or absence of vertical movment is not neccesarily correlated to lateral movement. How can vertical movment make the lateral movement predictable? Isn't lateral movement controlled more by the shooter? Gotta like that, I have no experience with the topic but I call BS. When you have made the gun totally flat, it still has recoil, it is just not upward. The gun usually comes back into your hand (like a rifle) and you have to absorb that recoil with your stance, grip and arm position. When standing still, with perfect posture, you can create a stable and balanced platform to absorb the recoil and the gun barely moves. When you are shooting on the move, or from various positions, you cannot keep that perfect (balanced) posture to absorb the recoil without shifting the gun. Your arms and grip absorbing the recoil are what cause the gun to move from side to side, not the gun itself. When you have a gun that is not flat, the majority of the recoil impulse goes upward, and there is little coming backward, into your hand, and causing the lateral movement. I didn't say "I never shot a gun before" I've shot production and limited plenty. I understand recoil. I also understand statistics. Claiming that lack of movement in one dimension is correlated to more movement in another dimension is what I felt was not founded. It is still on the shooter to control the left-right motion, regardless of the up-down motion.

  21. Has anyone tried this frame weight with a Safariland 014 (or similar) open holster? Do you have to drill into your frame to mount the weight?
  22. I'm pretty certain there will be at least one stage with all steel! that's not fair....that stage had a few paper on it last month! I'd like to do a ProAm style fixed time stage in that pit but I'm not sure A) it's USPSA legit and the gang would be on board with that. got some fun lined up for this months match, you and your Glock should swing by to check it out That would be a no-go to part A. 9.2.4.2 Fixed Time must use paper targets exclusively and they should, where possible, be disappearing targets. 9.2.4.3 Fixed Time must only be used for Standard Exercises, Classifiers or Short Courses.
  23. Please be mindful that the most popular OAL on the forum of 1.18" is for STI's. These rounds will not fit in Glock and other mags that are intened to shoot factory length (more like 1.13") .40. What gun are you loading for? I think 1.155 might fit in a Glock mag, but I think that is pushing the limits. Please don't "split the difference" with stuff like this - it is important to know your application and pay attention to other data points of a similar application.
  24. Just saw this posted on FB: Shay Akai: "Quick Warning: We build quite a few open guns, so we have a good pulse on what is going on out there. We have had a few guns crack slides over the last week after a long while with no cracks. These are older guns that have been running perfectly for two years or so, not new. For guns to crack all in the same week, it means something has changed. Every gun that has cracked was due to over pressure and all were using the new batch of 3N38. People, check your pressures. Looks like there may have been a change in formulation on 3N38."
  25. Spray One Shot on them and forget it. I've loaded over 20k like this, no problems. Dillon lube leaves noticeably more gunk on the cases.
