  1. Limited minor is not ideal due to the scoring disadvantage. I know, everyone says this and it is well known.I would only go for the 9mm if i was only planning on shooting steel or 3 gun, with no chance ever of IPSC or USPSA.
  2. I think this logic is incorrect.Powders behave differently at different pressures. 40 is much higher pressure than 45. I think bullet velocity and weight have more effect on recoil, all personal preference. Many guys prefer slower heavier bullets for a push recoiling feeling. Others like it a little more snappy. A lot to do with your specific gun, your grip, your slide weight, and recoil and mainsprings, finding the right balance.
  3. I'm wondering the same thing, mainly to decipher if it's IDPA legal. Must not weigh more than 2oz over a polymer grip. Not sure that rule applies. Technically you can buy the pistol in that configuration as long as it meets the 43 oz rule it should be good to go, no? If not then would any of the SVI pistols be good to go?Yea i think you must be confused.. Short dust cover, and the gun makes weight, you are good to go. There is not even a "factory" requirement since single action guns are for ESP or CDP only.
  4. I think that is the general response on 40 vs 45.That said, there seems to be a shift in philosophy in that more people are going with 40. Brass is cheaper, you can use the same ammo in a 2011 limited gun, and there are even some heavy bullet options out there 200, 220 gr.. Will give you a softer push recoil. I like shooting 180s out of my limited 2011 though.
  5. OP asks opinion of product, if anyone saw it first hand.. You say they are junk, without any actual reason or evidence.. Real helpful.I agree. Infinity grips are what, around $800? PT grips are OK but why can't there be other good products out there. Matt Cheely is the C in CK and they don't come any better than him.I bought a CK Thunder series limited gun last spring and used it all 2014. I have been pleased with it.

  7. A friend just bought a 9mm trojan, and it is super tight. Seems like hit or miss...
  8. I don't think that is a TTI follower, looks more like a Grams.
  9. We`ll se if the fitting of these guns matches svSent from my MI 3W using Tapatalk OK, please stop.. we don't need to side-track into the depths that is the "comparing SV vs everything" threads.. I've seen enough of those on here..
  10. I've reloaded about 7k rounds of .40 using the EGW U die and Hornady One Shot - half for a G35, the other half for a 2011.. no issues.. I can't believe all that extra work you are attempting to do...
  11. Do a little google-fu on here to learn that Clays at major PF only at long OAL's.. unless you want a kaboom. Even with that you might get some case head separations. I load some really soft .40 minor with Clays - 2.7gr under 180gr Ibejiheads at 1.135" or 1.180" If only for 3 gun or practice and it is def all minor, then maybe 165gr would be fine also.
  12. sorry guys...I should have stated I meant "limited" style build. won't be shooting limited matches, just local club matches. my bad On another note, I got my SV bull barrel coming from Brandon and I'm so excited to get my hands on it. Mike at Shooters Connection has been a huge help as well. Quick question though...I really like the flush cut (bull) barrels Matt Cheely does on some of his guns. Is their a problem with having that done? Benefit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I would think that the benefits of the fluted barrels are: -less weight (more important on 6" builds, more of a preference for 5" -more surface area to cool down the barrel.
  13. As Sarge stated, you left out an option that a large percentage of us go with: custom builds based on STI frames- Brazos, Bedell, FGW, Cheely, CK Arms, Cameron's, Benny Hill, Mclearn, etc...
  14. I would say 10mm has a very strong cult following and the people that like 10mm tend to want longer barrels People shooting Limited that have or are looking for a 24 might be interested.. the extra long slide combined with more space in the mag - combine this with a .40 conversion barrel (to allow for longer .40 loads) and this would be a nice Limited Glock.
  15. My feed lips were: 2 about .389, and 2 between .380 and .385, can't remember specifics.. I'll run them through a few matches and practice sessions and see how it goes..
  16. Less reloading (limited) is more fun in my opinion. Ill play devil's advocate here and say hold off on any new purchase, go shoot a few competitions with what you already own to make sure the significant cost of a good 1911/2011 will be worth it.
  17. I just bought a set of TTI basepads, springs and followers for my 2011. I was using the Dawson SNL and Grams springs and followers to get 20+1, 20 reloadable. With the TTI setup, I can start with 21+1, and 20 reloadable. I just tested these mags out at the range today and most of the time, they would not drop free when empty.. then I realized that the follower was sticking up a little further and moving forward. Anyone else encounter this problem? Do the followers get "broken in"? I don't think the mags need to be tuned or anything, they run fine, I only have just over 3k rounds through this gun with 4 mags, so they have not been abused all that much yet, only about a match or two a month this year.
  18. perfect spring to pair up with the Jager extended steel guide rod
  19. I loaded a bunch of Zero 147gr JHPs in the past for my G34 - crazy accurate with Titegroup..
  20. Why are you having a 9mm built instead of a .40, particularly for Limited division?
  21. the LEE Factory Crimp Die also helps with bulged ammo. I have loaded 10's of thousands of rounds.. and now I'm shooting mostly coated lead.. I used to load up a ton of 147gr Zero JHPs in 9mm... took 2 years off from 9mm.. to shoot .40... went back and started loading some Bayou 147's.. all of a sudden, many of them have a bulge on one side of the case.. I might be seating too deep for these bullets.. but I have the EGW undersize die, the Mr. Bullet Feeder expander, Dillon seat and crimp.. I (re) bought the FCD, and put the suspect rounds (found via case gauge) through this in my single stage, and it fixed them all... I tested each one for set-back, no issues, etc.. used them for practice ammo through my G34..
  22. I'm not sure those actually exist (edit- search on gunbroker has one). Their website has said that the .40 versions are available for going on 2 years..and I guess they finally are... btw, the Traditional Match Elite has the traditional 1911 slide.. so it would fit normal holsters..
  23. yea, as other said, time for new springs. A friend of mine bought 4 used Brazos mags, and one of them would not feed reliably and the spring was kind of bent up like the one in your picture.
