  2. I have played with a couple, not a bad gun. I still think sig slide are ugly, so they are a no go for me. They come with nice aggressive texture grips, good trigger parts but starts off heavy. The rear sight has white dots if I remember correctly, can't quite remember what the front sight is. A guy that shoots at my club has one and seems to like it. George
  3. I shoot L10 a lot, living in NY it really the only option. I shoot limited out of NY, I prefer it to L10. That being said, I use the same gun for both divisions. My slide does not lock open empty, I rarely find myself with an empty gun. I don't think it's necessary to lock back. George
  4. Good, fun, fast match! Enjoyed the stages. Thanks to the staff and sponsors for a great smooth running match. Butchered two stages, but had an ok finish. Thanks, George
  5. Clay dot is a good replacement, very similar load data. My loads only varied .1 grain. I like WST the most of anything I've tried. Very similar in felt recoil. Very clean as well
  6. WST is my first choice for sure. Solo 1000 second 4.2 of either give me a nice soft 170 pf behind a 200g BBI @ 1.180" Standard deviations under 10 George
  7. Is like to give a big thanks to all the staff and ROs that worked the match. I shot poorly but had a good time. Thanks!
  8. I shoot with two guys that just rebarreled their 9mm slides and had the breech face opened to accept a 40
  9. I think a little sear spring adjustment and maybe a lighter mainspring would probably do it very easily. Granted that you ignition parts are quality manufacture. George
  10. I started shooting competition with a 1911, then went to an HK, then an M&P back to a 1911. Now I'm shooting a 2011. Not one of these switches did I notice a difference in skill. My achievements have always been made with more practice. In 2014 I decided to focus on USPSA and make master class. It wasn't the gun that help, it was twice a week practice and close to 30 matches shot through out the year. New guns are fun but a gun doesn't make you better IMO. They can make you get 'better' by rekindling interest in the sport or practicing more. I love buying new guns, cross training with different guns, but I still think the best investment is ammo and range time. George
  11. I Use gi guide rods in all of my bushing barrel guns. Never saw the point of a full length unless your running a bull barrel.
  12. I agree that the balance of the gun is more important than the weight. I shoot a short dust cover 2011 with a stainless grip. It balances nicely and weighs 49oz with empty mag. I have yet to be slowed down on transitions, draws or reloads because of weight. Before I added the PT grip and used a brass ICE magwell, I think it made the gun butt heavy and made felt recoil feel more flippy. Like it was dragging the ass end down while shooting. With the steel grip I do not get that effect, the weight is balanced, doesn't make the gun feel like a fulcrum.
  13. I like the taran pads, smaller profile feels better to me. Dawson's are a good product as well, just feel like a big ice cube in my hand, I don't like that. Both come on and off easily, and will give you the extra capacity if that's what you are looking for
  14. 200gn BBI and Bayou over 4.2g WST @ 1.180". Gives me avg PF 172. SD 9 200gn BBI over 3.6g E3 @ 1.180". Gives me avg PF 175. SD 11 Don't have anything for bullseye
  15. Kensight makes a deep notch bomar rear sight. I think they start off .120" deep, it is what I have on my guns with the notch opened to .140". They work great. I had the same problem as you, trying to make the notch deeper on a standard sight did not yield the results I was looking for. George
  16. I'm looking for some load data for 38 special. Using clay dot and 147 plated bullets. If your using something close, please post up your load. Looking to make minor power factor. Thanks
  17. I have 9 and 40 top ends for my current limited gun. I have my mags separated, but on few different occasions I have grabbed the wrong mag. The 9 mag will run 40 and vice versa, but I have not tested it more than the couple mistakes I've made. I would suggest buying the correct caliber mags for 100% reliability. Double stack mags can be picky and finicky, I constantly check dimensions so I can keep my gun running with no hiccups. I have lost matches due to magazine failures. Not fun. George
  18. Anyone notice the 30% off vertx coupon code in the back is expired? I received mine last Thursday or so.
  19. Updated today, ended up being 100%
  20. I'm using ISMI 17lbs main spring with a Wolff 9lbs recoil spring. I run a 17 ISMI in all my 1911/2011s
  21. Shot today in lim 10, 56 points in 5.09 seconds. Should push me into master class.
  22. I am having the same issue, then created a paypal account and still having issues
  23. I have gone to BBI exclusively, .45 9 and 40. I have not had an issue with any of them, accuracy is great, they all feed and chamber check no matter what weight I have bought. They are packaged well and always show up two days after I order. George
  24. I started with grams guts in my .40, switched to Tarans half way through last season and I'm glad I did. No more malfunctions with two of the mags I was having trouble with, another two were feed lips. I can also fit 21 in all my mags now as opposed to just a few before. Definitely the only guts and base pads I will buy now. George
