  1. I only sound I care about with my 1911s when I pull the trigger is "bang".
  2. Some USPSA clubs that fit your bill for location are: Tenafly Rifle & Pistol Club Tenefly, NJ Freeport Practical Shooters Freeport, NY Richmond Boro Gun Club Staten Island, NY Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club Old Bridge, NJ
  3. Just take the RO class. They will give you a rule book and overlays, and teach you how to use them. After that, you will get new overlays every time you pass your RO test.
  4. Follow the yellow brick road, go to USPSA.org -> About USPSA -> USPSA FAQ -> first bullet point is "How does the classification system work?"
  5. The rule pertaining to scores 5% under the minimum score for your current classification comes into play once you make C or better in a division.
  6. Your loads are too long. I've never been able to go beyond 1.250 before reliability begins to suffer.
  7. By rule 4.2.1, target types cannot be mixed in one stage.
  8. For those of us who don't know, how about a street address and/or web site for MVSG?
  9. Depleted Uranium is pretty heavy.
  10. Indiana 400 if it is held this year. I had a great time last year and it is back on my bucket list.
  11. I made mine from a Dillon 9mm sizing die. Unscrew the decaping pin assembly and tap out the resizing ring.
  12. I use Tripp Cobra mags and they work just fine for me (both 8-round and 10-round). I have also used McCormack mags and they work flawlessly as well. I have not had very good luck with Wilson mags. I use a 14 pound recoil spring, but have gone as low as 12 pounds. The 12 pound didn't work quite as well for me.
  13. Welcome to USPSA. Although you're not close enough for me to make your matches, I am heartened when new people/clubs join the sport. I wish you the best of luck for your inaugural year.
  14. You can only load your gun AFTER the RO gives you the command to "Make Ready". You can load your mags anywhere EXCEPT at the Safe Table. You only can draw your gun at the Safe Table or when it is your turn at the line, after the command to "Make Ready". You do NOT have to shoot at steel until you run out of ammo. You need enough mags to complete a 32 round course of fire. You need any kind of STRONG SIDE, OWB you want/can afford.
  15. Area 7 Championship is scheduled for July 9 - 10 @ Capitol City Rifle & Pistol Club, Augusta, ME. website: http://mainepracticalshooters.com Ryan Rocks Charity Blast @ Livington Gun Club, Brighton, MI, July 8 - 10 website: http://ryanrocks.livingstongunclub.org FAS & Furious @ Fairbanks Alaska Shooters, Fairbanks, AK, July 15 - 18 website: http://www.fairbanksalaskashooter.com/home.html
  16. The body of the offending mag may be bulged, especially near the feed lips. If that is the case, disassemble the mag then gently tap the mag body with a brass hammer till flat. Could also be one more long grip screws.
  17. In many cases, that is a choice they made to avoid using their weak hand or shoulder. If you think it is unsafe, make it a prohibited action. You cannot declare something a "prohibited action" until someone does it.
  18. Dates for Area 7 are July 10 - 12 2015. Match is currently sold out, gone to wait list. http://mainepracticalshooters.com/area7match/
  19. I am planning a trip from NH to include this match. Is there a Match website?
