  1. I'm 63 and it feels like I'm running, but I've seen the video, I'm just walking fast. It's old age and it's catching up to all of us, some faster than others.
  2. Thanks. I get confused when matches go by more than one name.
  3. Is there going to be a conflict with the Buckeye Blast that is traditionally held on Memorial Day Weekend?
  4. How does a piece of cardboard protect the prop? Inquiring minds want to know.
  5. Congratulations, welcome to the addiction.
  6. I disagree. Minimum bullet caliber for Major in both Limited and L10 is .40. If you are going to shoot 9 Major you'll have to do it in Open.
  7. What Jack said... It could also be COL and/or crimp. I have seen factory ammo with insufficient crimp causing rounds to hang up. I have seen factory ammo vary greatly in COL with long rounds hanging up. Just because it is factory ammo doesn't mean rounds are identical. 1911's have the most trouble eating hollow points.
  8. I traveled from NH to IN for the Indiana 400 this year and last. I had a great time. It is a well organized, well run day and a half match.
  9. I stand corrected. I understood the bump to Open was related to the walkthrough.
  10. I recall hearing this and if I remember correctly the rules don't support a bump to open. Rule 8.7.2 seems to cover the events as I recall them. 8.7.2 Competitors are prohibited from using any guns or gun replicas as sighting aids while conducting their inspection (“walkthrough”) of a course of fire. Violations will incur one procedural penalty per occurrence (also see Rule 10.5.1).
  11. I wish to thank Jake and his team for an awesome match, they only need to work out some final bugs with the weather. I also wish to congratulate TD Roe for the Lady's win. Her performance was something special to witness.
  12. Yes they did. Does this mean 2017 Area 8 will be held at Ontelaunee? Yippee. What are the dates?
  13. I didn't intend to be controversial, I was making an observation and kind of hoping it was a typo. I realize that everyone has the same time limit. I just hope I can draw and fire before the second buzzer.
  14. Thanks go out to everyone involved in hosting this match although 1 wobbly floor would have been enough.
  15. I did't want to be "that" guy but are the stage diagrams going to be available?
  16. You guys should keep in mind that some of us shoot for the enjoyment of the sport/game, realize that we will never win a match and need to cut costs where ever we can. Changing mag springs every 3-6 months without regard for use is like changing the oil in your car every 3 months when you only drive 100 miles a week. I change mag springs when I begin to experience failures.
  17. In my opinion, it would be a very bad idea to mill the sear. It is much easier to file/stone the thumb safety to fit.
  18. 2 mikes and 1 procedural is thirty points. They are 10 points each.
  19. Why two Procedurals? The rulebook tells us that the scenario you describe should be two mikes and one procedural for Failure to Engage. Unless you are talking about something besides USPSA.
  20. For folks that don't know: Rockcastle Shooting Center 585 Park Mammoth Rd Park City, KY
  21. 3 tips that worked for me. 1) Practice 2) Practice 3) Practice some more
  22. As a geezer myself, this is why I choose to shoot Single Stack Major. I don't have to count past 8 before a reload and most of the time it works out well. Shoot these four targets first, move to there while reloading, shoot those four target... Lather, rinse and repeat. If you are getting old and your memory is fading, maybe you're shooting the wrong division.
