  1. Range pickup .40 brass sized in my U die goes into match chambers forward or backward. No accuracy degradation. It used to be that you could only get them through EGW, but I believe there are other sources now.
  2. Little better turnout would be good, but it sure was nice being able to walk up and shoot.
  3. Anybody hear if it takes rip snorting "Ruger only" loads?
  4. Would be kinda cool if it took same moonclips as 625. Doubt that spacing is right though.
  5. One of the boxes of 1k Wolf small primers had half the 100 trays labeled as small pistol and the rest labeled small rifle. Couldn't see any difference and for my application it made no difference, but did make me question their quality control.
  6. The range was actually well drained and only one bay had any real amount of wet. Kudos to the volunteers. I didn't hear the official turnout of shooters, but it was a lot.
  7. Swedge, I have a XS and CRUMS customized 930 sitting around doing me no good. PM if interested. Dave
  8. Should work fine for Minor loads for 3gun. Like other powders at the fastest end you can get into trouble at Major loads. I've got a 40 with pitted breachface from Bullseye loads blowing holes in primers. Really the problem was too soft, old primers, but you get the idea. You can go as soft as your gun will cycle, Bullseye works just fine at low pressures so long as you don't stick a bullet in the bore.
  9. I had one of the very first IMM Opens configured like that. You wind up blowing a lot of gunpowder out the top. Also had it rebarrelled to one of the more current configurations and am much happier.
  10. As an aside this year's Blue Ridge didn't quite go by this scenario. If single action pistol was found manual safety off and believed to have round in the chamber we had the shooter clear it and then perform grip safety function check. If hammer fell it was stage DQ. If hammer wouldn't fall it was a procedural. At least that's how I remember we were instructed and running it.
  11. My well used heavy ran fine with 40 Minor when I used that for 3 gun.
  12. For the gentleman getting 30 in the mag: how is spring life? I've heard they tend to be short.
  13. The complete deluxe kit is the fastest and nicest. If you really want to be cheap you'll still want a second toolhead and second powder die with 308 funnel. You can swap powder bars when you change 45 to 308 and never have to adjust any of the dies once set up. Good Luck!
  14. It was a hoot shooting with all of you on squad 11. Kudos to all who helped run the match.
  15. Thanks to all the staff for a great match! And thanks for letting my son get in as a walk up.
  16. Thanks again Sam and Rodney! Had a heck of a good time and learned stuff too!
  17. Only 3.1 of Clays and still make major? That's a little hard to imagine. Is he using cut-down or GAP brass, by any chance? And did they actually chrono everybody's ammo at the Memphis match? He was using Federal .45 ACP brass. Maybe it's the green coating on Donnie's bullets that makes em go faster?
  18. That stage was cool. Except my rifle decided to STB. Everytime I cleared it that made the swing move that much more!
  19. Talking with Olhasso at the Memphis Charity Challenge and he said he was using 3.1 (yes, three point one) Clays under Bayou Bullets 230s. Loaded short, like 1.20", minimum cylinder gap and tight, Douglas 6 inch barel but still makes Major. That thing had almost no muzzle blast BTW.
