  1. That's pretty funny, I actually just got around to ordering mine. (Case feeder, not bullet feeder) I ended up going with the small pistol plate to load 9mm and .40. It just shipped today!!!
  2. I always understood the reason for 9 always being counted minor in limited, was because 9 major, while being similarly dangerous as in open, would encourage people to try faster powders which would soften recoil, but also be even more dangerous chamber pressure wise. The other thing would be actually shooting a 9 major limited gun. With no comp, it would be legitimately painful I would think, could even cause joint problems and such. Granted I have never shot a 9 major round out of a limited gun, but I would think it would not be something I would want to do very many times...
  3. I use an aluminum magwell on my steel grip 2011. I think it has a lot to do with the balance of your gun, and your own personal preference. Muzzle heavy, grip heavy or eavenly balanced...
  4. I'm under the impression if you have your barrel reamed for lets say one of the coated 135 gr load @ 1.150", these generally need a much longer throat, but then go back to a shorter cartridge in the future, the additional gap between the rifling and the bullet can cause decreased velocity and negatively effect accuracy. Anyone know if there is any truth to this???
  5. Far as I know the grips are still under development...
  6. Thanks Brian! That was what I read on your site when you were still selling Dillon stuff, and though that was the end of it. Recently though I had been hearing about a few people claiming the Large plate worked best when using both. I'm starting to think these few people using the large for both must have had other factors at play that I or they were not aware of. Sounding like the small plate is going to be my best bet.
  7. There was a time when you could get the Stock III's and not the Stock II's and I have pretty average patience, so I bought what I could get.... I should say I shoot with another guys that shoots and loves his stock III, but he also shoots a 6" Limited gun. Different people like different feeling guns, which is why its always good to actually try live firing the guns you are considering if at all possible. Also consider, sight radius and velocity. Longer sight radius on the III, but the velocity ended being about the same because the longer III has conventional rifling where as the II has polygonal rifling even though its a little shorter.
  8. Shot a Stock III for a few matches before switching to a Stock II. The balance and slide weight were the biggest things to me. With all the after market parts the trigger sights grips can all be the same. The lighter slide on the Stock II because of the cone barrel and being .25" shorter makes it a faster (recoiling and maneuvering) and in my opinion a flatter shooting gun. My stock III felt oddly slow and flippy because of all the weight in the slide and dust cover.
  9. Phlier, I'm the same way! Let us know what conclusion you come to.
  10. I am planning to get a case feeder (at last) for my Dillon XL650! I load 9mm and .40, and after some research, I can't figure out which size case feeder to get, the one with the large or small pistol plate. I have found a number of people that claim they were told to get both for my exact situation. (intended calibers of use) I am hoping I can get enough responses of which size case feeder to get and your explanation of how well it works for each caliber, that I can make a confident decision on my purchase. My previous post started this discussion, but never really got me to a solid answer, people were claiming both work, but I want to know which works best...
  11. I have come up with a modified plunk tests that eliminates the ambiguous spin test. Just drop the round in the barrel and whack the end of the round with your finger, then turn the barrel upside down. The round should fall out freely if it passes. If your rounds are in fact too long, they will grab on the riffling when you whack it, and will not fall right out when you turn the barrel upside down.
  12. Possible to give an explanation on what PT's 'aggressive' is like? Will I be bleeding after an hour or two of practice? Will I be able to appreciate/tolerate them if I only have about medium toughness hands?
  13. Are there different levels of traction for the grip texture, regular medium aggressive, or something?
  14. That looks a LOT like the SVI Signature grip profile... But hey, I'm all about competition, it drives the prices down for us! Any idea what the going price is on those? Does it require special main spring housings, or special grip safeties?
  15. Certainly contact your credit card company, there has to be a way to recover fraudulent charges like this. Good luck.
  16. Interesting, I don't remember mine being much if any tighter than you described when installing... granted you do have more rounds through it. Did you thoroughly decrease the sight and dovetail before loctiting and installing? Let it cure for 24hrs before doing anything with it? What ammo/reloads are you using, anything especially hot temperature wise? (ie. Titegroup)
  17. As a first thing to try, get the set screw loosened up, and then make sure it is tightened enough. If that doesn't secure it well enough, get some of the green loctite (I don't remember the number off the top of my head) from Dawson that they use for securing front sights. I use it on my Stock II front sight I got from them. It hasn't budged since the day I installed it some ~5000 rds ago.
  18. That is probably all to accurate of an assumption, lol!
  19. Sorry for just seeing this post, I sure hope that is not the case. All of the guns of interest here use the Witness Elite frames, the Limited, Limited Pro, Stock II, and Stock III, are all Witness Elite guns. Same grips different lengths. (mag well or no mag well) That part of the description is often not mentioned in discussion, but that is what I mean. The only other versions are the Witness Elite Match frames, and the original Witness Steel frames, which in full size configuration, I believe use the same grips as the Match. I hadn't noticed the Elite Match guns did have the word "Elite" in there description still, which makes it a little confusing, but all the "Match" guns have different grips than the ones we are most interested in, listed above.
  20. My thought exactly, thank you. More pics would still be cool to see. I just did an exhaustive search and was unable to find any other SV with serrations with the lightening cuts through them like that.
  21. I like the slide lightening cuts right in the cocking serrations on the Limited/Standard gun. Was that done directly from SVI, or after the fact. I was under the impression they don't usually do lightening cuts that go all the way through the slide at SVI. I'd like to see another picture of the front serrations up close if you can!
  22. I'm under the impression the fitment of the first and second generation factory wood grips on the large frame Tanfo Elite frames was the same... Should be interchangeable. The older ones just had a different external contour, more of a palm swell and a different checkering. I do like the smooth strip along the rear of the new grips though.
  23. Something just dawned on me... If you sent him the grips off a stock 3, those are the newer version of the wood grips right? IMO the first generation wood grips were slightly more ergonomic. May be worth getting a pair of those over to him for consideration... Do others agree with my oppinion of new vs old Tanfo wood grips?
  24. For our education, mind sharing what did end up being the problem?
  25. Thanks for the update! It's unfortionate he had the wrong frames in mind. If he already has the molds though, I guess he can expand his product offerings those should work on the elitematch guns and the stock 1.
