I stuck an old Rainier Arms Mini-Comp that I had lying around on my Tacsol AR22 upper. It works great and the timer hears it every time. I wanted another but they're out of production now. Rainier should bring them back and market them for .22's and rimfire games.

7.62, 4A/4C with a HF of 4.7244 puts me at 54.7% for Single Stack Major. I’ve got some work to do (a lot) in order to make A class this year.

I haven't run it in CCP but have in a local BUG match. I've got big hands so nearly every time I go to eject a magazine, it doesn't drop free as the mag catches on part of my palm. I've carried a P2000 for duty (13 years) and the grip is just long enough for to prevent that. Otherwise, I love it as a EDC.

I purchased a TacSol upper and some mags here from another member not even a year ago. It has run 100% since the day I put it on my SS frame. Admittedly, the TacSol mags are very expensive but they run like a sewing machine. I’ve tried several different types of ammo. I really like the Federal AutoMatch 40gr and the Aguila Supermax 30gr. I’ve stocked up on both and both are more than accurate enough for my local fun steel games.

Both games are fun, just different. Don’t take it or yourself too seriously and just have a great time while learning and being safe. A couple of the guys mentioned shooting Limited Minor, great advice as you’ll be able to learn the game without worrying about your reloads as much. We have a couple of M and GM shooters that show up at our local match and more often than not, they just smoke the rest of us. That being said, they are usually the first ones to help or answer questions for new competitors. Also, even though they’re often shooting different divisions, it’s usually a free education on how to plan or break down stages just by watching them.

I like my 5” 1911 running 200gr Xtreme bullets. For me, it’s just the right combo of soft shooting with the front sight settling just a bit quicker than my 230gr loads (prob all in my head, lol). The 4” guns may transition a little quicker (in someone’s hands besides mine) but they’re going to be snappier at the same power factor.

I loaded some Xtreme 165’s over Winchester 572 (3.7g) for a fun bunny fart load that still ran a friend’s Shield. I think you’ll have more luck with the “heavies” (147 to 165) than anything lighter unless you change out the recoil spring. Those little guns have heavy recoil springs that light weight, low PF loads just won’t run/overcome.. Using heavy bullets makes it a breeze w/out changing springs. You’ll still be over 100pf but under 115pf I’m guessing. If your going to change springs, then try some 100gr XTremes and maybe some Clays. I have a recipe but it’s for 128pf.

Sorry, it’s not TiteGroup but I have done some experiments with Xtreme 185 FP and 4.3g of Clays. 4.3g at 1.19 OAL gave me a 20 shot average of 743fps out of my Ford Shooters 5” 1911. Runs 100%, very flat shooting and accurate too w/a 13lb recoil spring. Makes for a fun IDPA ESP or steel load.

I always used Tripp mags, never had any issues feed wise. I believe you’ll need a .140 or bit taller front sight with a Springfield cut. Call Dawson and they’ll get you squared away.

I've owned one in the past and two SSC's. What would you like to know? Reloading wise they were all very picky, they all had very short throats so loading long for the heavies was out for me at that time. Otherwise they are built like vaults, very tight and very accurate. I found I liked .40 minor a lot for IDPA and steel (plus I have a nearly unlimited access to 1x fired brass at work). Just change out the recoil spring and do some experimenting. I like the slide moving and settling fast so I use Rainier 135's with a 10lb recoil spring. Very low recoil (130ish PF) and run like a scalded cat. Double taps inside of 12-15 yards are ridiculously easy (almost always within a cpl inches of each other if I do my part) and I can see the holes much easier than 9mm.

I shoot VP40 for Limited, I just missed making "B" class at my very first classifier match earlier this year using my agency's very hot 185pf duty ammo. The long range standards stage killed me. I had just installed new sights a couple of days prior and didn't bother trying them out at 50yards. Big mistake.

I'm shooting one as well. I'd originally purchased it several months back for CCP but the rules have changed, lol. Anyway I ran it this last weekend using Xtreme 147's over 3.9 of 572 at 1.15 OAL. Very, very soft shooting and the gun ran like a sewing machine. I have tried some 165's which were very soft too (3.7g of 572 at 1.155") but the front sight settles quicker with the 147's. I may try some 124's and 135's as well. I'll let you know. The only changes I've made are to add Trijicon HD's. I know they're pricey but they match what I have on my duty gun and I like that large dot for point shooting.

I just picked up my first new Beretta since we switched from the "Burrito" 96D .40 to the P2000 11 years ago at work. I got one of the PX4 Compact Carry guns with the grey slide. It is very soft shooting to say the least. Ive only put a few mags through it but I can't wait to run it at my local IDPA match in a couple of weeks. The SA trigger is great right out of the box and DA is smooth and manageable. I do think that I'll replace the Talon grip tape with regular skate tape though. Is it worth the money? That's all subjective but I like it a lot so far.

My RMR is mounted on top of a GMR for speed steel. I use this inexpensive Burris riser underneath and it's just the right height. Hello All, So, forever tinkering with reloads I wanted a .45 ACP minor load using Clays for my HK45c. No special reason why other than just because. The 45c has a very stout recoil spring so anything below 3.6 or 3.7 grains of Clays wouldn't cycle reliably at all. I decided to pull the recoil spring assembly from my P2000 in .40 and put it in the 45c. Viola, shoots minor like a champ, 100% reliable at 3.6 grains of Clays with 230gr Zero bullets. Might be able to go lower but I don't see the need. I'll put it over Chrono later this week but I'm guessing right around 140-145ish PF. I just like those big holes when shooting IDPA or USPSA... I think I'll drop the RSA from my P30L into my HK45 next and see if it runs the same. Anyway, don't try this at home...but if you do please post your results. Thanks, Matt

Springs for a Glock 19 or 23 Gen 3 will fit. In fact you can use the whole recoil assembly in a pinch.

I've noticed Wolff springs always seemed to feel a bit heavier than advertised. Probably because I had gotten used to the worn out one I was replacing. I tried making my Expert a game gun; I changed sights, went to a match LEM trigger and messed with the recoil springs. I even had a gunsmith friend make me a really light spring for my Expert, it was 8 or 9 lbs I believe. Anyway, I ride the slide thumbs forward and kept stopping the gun. It was frustrating and kind of comical at the same time. I found the HK Combat Competition to be a better balance overall for me. The only thing I didn't like on the CC was the rear sight notch was so narrow. I like a little more light on either side. Other than that, that large fiber optic Novak front sight on the CC really glows bright...and my rear sight complaint is easily remedied by a call to Dawson Precision. Maybe I'll run some of my 165gr 9mm through her and start messing with it again. Got to love tinkering in this sport.

Over the years I've managed to purchase 3 MGM full size IPSC plates and a few auto poppers. I cut the 0 down zone out of a target (overlay) and spray paint it on the plates. Makes it easy to see hits. The auto poppers are a lot of fun too, I think they're 8" around just like the 0 down zone is. Definately worth the investment for me.

I just picked one up in a trade here. It ran store bought ammo of all weights (tried 115, 124 and 147) just fine. It would not chamber my reloads with the 165's loaded to 1.15". They were hanging up at the last 1/16th of the round. I made sure my sizing die was adjusted correctly but just couldn't get them to chamber reliably until I took a few minutes to polish the throat with some fine sandpaper. Now they chamber and drop free 100%. This gun is really fun to shoot with these loads, it hardly moves at all.

So, I finally got around to shortening my original 165gr rounds from 1.17 to 1.155 in order to fit the Glock mags that feed my GMR-13. Along with that, I reduced the amount of 572 a tenth to 3.4gr. Now the weird part; the rounds chrono at an average of 774fps out of my VP9 and only 790fps out of the GMR-13. I expected a quite a bit more velocity from the carbine to say the least. It is absolutely like a .22lr, no recoil and extraordinarily quiet...way too much fun. I do notice that the ejected cases have quite a bit of soot/unburned powder when they leave the carbine. They do eject with authority landing several feet away at about 4 o'clock. I can only guess that the loss of velocity is due to the chamber being more loose in the carbine than the pistol. The cases ejected from the pistol are completely clean in comparison. I'm having a lot of fun with the GMR, definately a keeper.

I own all four (SK, P2000, VP9 and P30L) and also carry a P2000 daily for work. The mags are definitely interchangeable between same caliber. You may have feed issues if you use a .40 mag for 9mm. Holster wise, things are all over the place. I have a CompTac made for the P30L that all of the guns fit into whereas my BladeTech made for the VP9 only fits that gun. I'm guessing a BT made for a P30L will also carry the SK as they're both wider than the VP9. Hope this helps a bit.

So, I ran the loads I talked about earlier in this thread at yesterday's ISSA match. I ran the GMR-13 to a first in division and fourth overall (including all CF and RF guns). The GMR felt like I was shooting a rimfire and my times vs all the rimfire guys showed that this gun will run (and with a better driver, who knows...lol). I quickly found out that they were a little long for two of my four Glock mags, go figure... I'm going to have to shorten these from 1.17" to 1.165 or maybe a bit more to work in 100% in the Glock mags. A little more reading here would have told me that before race day. I'll make up some more and post later next week.

Finally got around to putting some more rounds over the chrono. I've settled on 3.5gr of 572 loaded to 1.17". They averaged 785 for a 20 round string. No problems with feeding or extraction. They shoot very soft and accuracy is right about 2" @ 25 yards which is fine for the games I'm playing. I know there are tons of powder choices and it looks like 572 is just another to add to the list. I'll work up some .40 and .45 loads in the next few weeks time, wife and kids permitting. I'm running the same load of 3.5gr of 572 under Xtreme 165's loaded to 1.17" for both my VP9 and GMR-13. They average 785 through the VP9 but I haven't put them over the chrono with the carbine yet. The GMR is so soft shooting with these, it's like a toy. Update: I put some through the carbine this afternoon. I ran two 10 shot strings with the averages being 824 and 827 respectively. It just brings a smile to your face with every pull of the trigger, too much fun. I'm going to run it in a local speed steel match on Saturday, I can't wait...?
