Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I made one using the plans bigdawd posted a while back cheaper than buying one and larger volume.
  2. It's a 5.56 mostly likely target will be rabbit, squirrel etc largest would be deer in the areas we hike. Longest range won't likely go over 100 yards or if b it does not by much.
  3. I've never used a large MOA sight. How much accuracy do you lose with a 4 or 6 MOA sight?
  4. I have an electronic scale that I got from Brain a few years ago with his 550b kit and a Dillon balance beam. I check them against each other and so far they have always matched. I also have a Lee balance beam but for some reason I just can't read it properly.
  5. I'm looking for a scope to mount on a emergency backpacking rifle. The rifle will be folded up and riding in my pack back while I'm out hiking, back country sking, etc. The important things I'm looking for is durability and holding zero while in the backback including possible falls and size/weight. The next consideration is cost. As this is emergency equipment the biggest thing is holding zero. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  6. Another option would be to resize and deprime on a single stage which free's up one of your stations. I already do this as I wet tumble.
  7. I have found a aluminum one from EGW, steel from brownell's (contessa), steel from Talley or one of either steel or titinum from Murphy co. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I'm mounting a vortex razor on it, the caliber is 7mm rem mag. Thank you in advance.
  8. I'm ready to start load development on my browning a bolt 7mm rem mag with BOSS CR system. I'm how do I utilize the BOSS with load development to get the best accuracy with handloading. Also the new scope arrived much earlier then I expected and I'm wondering if I should put the new scope on before or after I do load development. Thanks in advance
  9. I'm turning a guitar case into a AK/AR case for going to and from the range. The idea is to protect the firearms with a case that does not look like a gun case. I have already stripped the guitar case insides and now I want to make new inserts for the rifles. There are a total of four rifles that need to fit inside the case (not all at once). I usually will take 2 of them at one time with me. One is to take the rifle wrap it in plastic wrap (pick one) cover with muslin cloth including sides of he case and then spay some big gap filler spray foam over it. Wait till it dries remove the block and then trim down if needed to fit the second rifle (after same procedure) in. I have never used the big gap stuff at all so I'm concerned about whether or not it will work for this application. Does anyone have any inputs on this? Thank you in advance for thoughts.
  10. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this topic, sorry if it's not. I wanted to warn everyone to stay away from Optics planet. I have made several orders in the past without any issue. A while back I placed a order after there business hours, the confirmation e-mail had the wrong shipping address on it. As soon as they opened the next day I called and told them of the error. They stated they would try and correct it. As it turns out they did nothing, I called again the next day with the same results. After a couple of days I got sick of it and told them just to cancel the order and keep the item. The next day they shipped it to the wrong address. When I got the shipping notification I called and asked why they shipped it anywise. They again lied and stated they had too, they also stated they could not stop the shipment. I called both the shipping agency's (UPS through Postal service). They both stated that the merchant can in fact cancel and have the item returned up until it is delivered to the recipient. Optics planet again lied when I told them all they had to do was call the shipper (claimed they couldn't do that). Optics planet just waited and did nothing, thankfully nobody kept the box at the address so it was eventually returned. Since then Optics planet has continued to do nothing, it has been over a month and no refund. From now on I'm going to stick with small companies that know how to treat long time costumers.
  11. I've decided to get a target cam for seeing holes and a spotter for reading mirage. I just haven't decided which one yet
  12. I plan to use it near my car at a couple of ranges. So far I shoot mostly alone so I will have it next to me. Based on what you've said so far it looks like I might want a fairly high end scope
  13. I forgot to add vortex gives a very good veterans discount, so a viper HD will be a little over what a celestron regal will be. I just know if either will work and if the extra would be better for the viper, or do I need to save for really high end ones.
  14. I'm thinking bullet holes at 200, I might get a target cam for beyond (if my range allows) either way the max for bullet holes in 200. The bigger function is mirage at 1000
  15. I'm starting to work my way up to extreme range shooting. I want a spotting scope for that purpose. Bullet holes for shorter ranges/ load development and wind calculation at long range when I'm not using the rifle scope. Even though I will not be immediately needing the long range I believe in buy once cry once. I don't want to pay for brand or stuff I won't need. Based on the reading I've done so far on the low end I'm thinking a celestron regal, pantax or viper HD, on the higher end a razor HD. I'm not sure though what I would need for these purposes. Thank you for any inputs.
