  1. Which direction are you going? The pin is half blind, you need to push it out from the side where you only see half of the pin, use a punch to carefully catch the edge of it and get it started. If you are hammering in the end you see fully exposed you are going the wrong way.
  2. I've had the Rudy's with the insert behind the shields (for the reasons above) and now I have Rudy's with the prescription in the shields. If you know what color you like, you can' beat digitally mapped wrap around prescription stuff. Yes they are expensive, but your eyes are irreplaceable, our hobbies are expensive, and if you prescription doesn't change very often they will last a good long time.

    Butterfingers

I've tried explaining this to the wife. She felt differently.
  4. Yeah seriously . .. Is not like was defending our shitty rules, I'm just saying that the notion that a "manager" will want to help seems far fetched.
  5. That's cute, you guys think the state of CA has any interest in solving this problem, when their intent is actually the exact opposite. As far as they are concerned the law is working as intended.
  6. There are four pages of discussion in THIS THREAD . Thank you, I didn't see that one for some reason.
  7. Not that it isn't killer impressive, but how many takes did he take at making that video?
  8. Can I ask what the motivation and logic were behind stealth? I'm not criticizing or anything, I'm just curious what were the things that lead to its creation.
  9. I played with one of the Carver ones, they are interesting in that they also work with the factory basepads and the arendando's
  10. Gotcha, the more I thought about it the more the cam pin seemed like the likely suspect. Shooting 2600fps loads with 55gr bullets always torqued the gun less then 68gr at 2850 but I didn't think about it to much and assigned to bullet/barrel torque or maybe extra gas at the comp, but it does make sense that violently spinning metal bits inside the receiver affect it as well.
  11. Well the M3000 should release a round onto the lifter when you pull the trigger (or press the button) which would be before the action cycles. My guess that has more to do with the tube spring or some other issue.
  12. I never thought of it this way, but where does the torque come from? I would assume if the case was still sealed to the chamber the bolt wouldn't try to torque it out, it would slip around the extractor groove until it is unlocked and starts moving backward. It can't be from the rear of the lugs because the bolt is being pushed forward initially as the carrier is pushed back, so the only places left would be contact between the forward face of the lugs and maybe the cam pin slamming into the carrier? Help me understand this please.
  13. I've concluded published load data is is not always correct or uniform. I've seen powder manufacturers publish one set of data for a given powder/bullet/OAL and the bullet manufacturer publish different data for the same exact combination. One reason may be that they use different chambers, different temperatures, etc in their testing. Another reason may be that they've tested different batches of powder and different batches of the same powder can have slight variation in performance. Add different bullet profiles and it gets even wonkier. Start with a middle of the range load that both source agree on, and work your way up until you are happy watching for pressure signs and strange velocities. If you get a new batch of powder, back it off and test again.
  14. Aggressive grip texture. I don't have to worry about forgetting it at home, or forgetting to apply it, etc.
  15. My answer would be after 8 rounds or so dump it and go to pistol
  16. I've actually been quite pleased with the pack I got with one of the gift certificates. I think when that stuff is used up I'll be buying their bigger bottles, which says something because I've been living of "match prize" oils and cleaners for years, and I liked theirs that much.
  17. I know nothing of the tactical world, but a comment in your original post concerns me. You seem to think you can't master quad loads but really they are fairly easy to learn. With the proper shell holders and a few hours of practice you will stop fumbling them, and some extra practice will only get you faster. Sure, you won't be able to post videos of superhuman speed without a LOT of practice, but the technique is actually pretty easy to learn.
  18. I lived in northern NJ for 20 years, and just north of NJ in NY for 32 years. Where are all these matches within 1 hour of Newark, NJ? Are you counting CT and PA? Old Bridge shoots USPSA/steel/IDPA/knockdown/3gun/etc http://obrpc.org Central Jersey in Jackson shoots USPSA/steel/cowboy/etc http://cjrpc.org Shongum in Hackettstown shoots USPSA and others http://www.shongum.org/ RTSP in Randolph shoots USPSA and IDPA http://rtsponline.com/ SCFGPA in Bridgewater shoots IDPA http://www.scfgpa.org/idpa.html
  19. So my 550 doesn't have the new grease zergs. Are those something that can be retrofitted if I order the right parts or do I need a hole new crank assembly or what?
  20. For anyone who's never shot that match, it is awesome. I had to pull out this year for a scheduling conflict, otherwise I would have been there. The food is also awesome.
  21. At the end of the day it is a shotgun, so it is going to have some recoil. Lighter loads are definitely the answer, 2 3/4 dram loads are a good place to start.

    PRICE GOUGING

I understand the anger, but price gouging only refers to essentials needed for life . I mean I know I think gun powder is one of those, but the rest of the world doesn't
  23. Anyone know if this is one of those "work out of your car" ranges or should I bring a cart to haul crap around?
  24. I see the prize table for heavy optics has improved, a WHOLE box of ammo
  25. Actually you are right about that. We are actually blessed with choice right now, and I think differences between rules and trying different things is a good thing. I personally believe that time plus with stage points makes most sense, but the reality is I'll shoot by any rules because at the end of the day I enjoy pulling the trigger and hanging out with people. And yeah, I reserve the right to change my mind and come around to your way of thinking later
