  1. Brad, that's awesome, and your story made me think on how much shooting has affected and changed my life as well.
  2. So .. kinda like a swap meet where a 3gun match breaks out?
  3. It is almost as you guys are proposing that USPSA issues some form of card one can use to show they are an RO ...
  4. M&Ps don't need a lot of spring magic. Use a 15lb and a rod of your choice and shoot it.
  5. When we remember, we actually mention this at the start of our matches. We ask people to ask permission of anyone they film, RO's included. Not only would some folks not have their face all over the internet running with guns because their boss may not approve, but some people who shoot our matches depend on some degree of anonymity to do their day job. In any endeavor, not just shooting, it is probably best if you ask permission before you post a video of someone else. I can see how that is virtually impossible when you record your kids little league game, but do you really need to post that anyway?
  6. So high power shooters and people using silly guns. Gotcha .. Are they winning?
  7. Kurt, are you referring to yourself in the majestic plural? I mean, that's ok by me, a man has to do what a man has to do, I'm just curious To get back on thread though, for gaming purposes, what is wrong with a glove? I carry one around anyway because shotguns burn me a LOT more often then rifles so not use it?
  8. I can't call a 91. Sorry, take my RO card away, but I don't have a protractor attached to my shooting glasses. I think If we are honest with ourselves most of us are calling either 85 or 95+ depending on which side of caution we ride or the angles at which we see things. Me, I'll call both of the above examples regardless of who is shooting, a break is a break and new guy at L1 or national champion at whatever level, makes no difference. Allowing a new shooter leeway only teaches him bad habits and forgiving a top shooter is inequitable to all involved and also teaches everyone bad habits.
  9. Your poor attitude aside, who does that stance work for? Please name names please of shooters who actually distinguish themselves using it. If you can't, then it "works" in the sense that you can fire the gun that way, but not in the sense that you can shoot it accurately or fast. Heck, I could shoot my rifle one handed while on my back and holding a rabid raccoon in the other hand but I won't be hitting the targets a lot Or .. maybe you are just trolling in which case, well done.
  10. Well .. that's pretty much 3GN rules isn't it? The Freedom Munitions match last weekend made abundant use of this, paper could be engaged with pistol or shotgun slug, longer range slug targets would be engaged with 2 pistol shots, most steel targets were pistol or shotgun, clays shotgun only. It made for really interesting choices, specially when you are going to have your shotgun in your hands anyway, do you dump it and draw your handgun or do you load 2 slugs for those 2 paper? I liked it, and stage design made it so pistol wasn't always the right answer, even on paper.
  11. Did you tell the match director? He and he alone can fix these issues.
  12. Yep, thats stupid. However .. if you HAVE to, stick your hand in the loading port, rock the bolt release back, catch the round coming out of the tube, repeat. Or shoot 4 in the berm really fast, thats probably the fastest.
  13. Eh? First of all it isn't snitching. What the hell does that even mean, this isn't a play ground or a prison. If you see a safety violation and a squad who are playing by their own rules I assure you the MD wants and needs to know about it. He doesn't want anyone shot on his watch. In fact the ONE AND ONLY correct answer to you problem was to bring it to the MDs attention. Wearing scarlet letters or some such is irrelevant. If he didn't care about your issue, then yes as waktasz said, GTFO and call in the presumed adults in the section and USPSA area, because they also don't want to see anyone shot on the range.
  14. I get legal vs illegal, but clearly both are offered for sale on that chart, so why is 9mm more expensive then 38 super? Is it that the general supply of one is higher then the other?
  15. I've been using the same 550 for over a decade. Never felt the need "upgrade", and I use it for multiple calibers.
  16. Don't do that, that is probably the worst solution to a problem. That's like saying that the solution to not having enough lumbar support in your cars driver seat is driving from rear passenger seat.
  17. and why the heck is 9mm so much more expensive then 38 super?
  18. Somewhere between 130-135 I call it good. Plus, it will knock down steel better, or so I tell myself.
  19. I have an old 500 with a saddle somewhere in my safe. I'll have to try this
  20. Yep. My dogs have also always been rescue/shelter dogs. My current buddy spent 6 months bouncing between shelters and alike 3 or 4 "owners" before he came home to us. No idea why anyone would have ever gotten rid of him, never mind 4 different people, he has been wonderful family member: I'm pretty sure anyone abandoning a dog outside some form of dire "pick feeding your kid or your dog" type of situation is a person I don't want to shake hands with. Ever.
  21. That has NOT been my experience. I have a couple of BCM uppers and both were oversized on the interior diameter. My guess is you will see random sizing depending who made them for BCM that week. For me the JP ones seem to be more consistent.
  22. I couldn't care less about being tactical, but when shotguns need extensions added to 48" bags, and don't fit in trunks without disassembly you have to ask if we've gone to far
  23. I'd like a rule against changing rules. Sometimes rules need changing, but unless there is a gross safety issue not covered by existing rules or someone discovers a loophole I could drive the Capitol building through, every rule set should come with a disclaimer that says "This rulebook will not be changed until $currentyear+3". It may be that we desire certain rules changed, but lets give them a few years to make sure we really want it changed and that the change is really needed and that there are no second order effects. I know that personally I rather not read a new rule book before every other match or so. But I'm a curmudgeon that way ..
  24. I think the simplest way to not make money in a certain market is to not participate in it, and then say there is no money in it. Thing is you can only sell so many 3-9x hunting scope with lifetime warranties before you run out of people to sell scopes to.
