  1. Oh I don't know, they always looked awkward to me Yes I kid, I'm actually ok with people bagging their guns, I just don't want people to think that everyone is going to agree with their way of doing things.
  2. Personally, I think if you don't feel comfortable with a holstered gun for the duration of the match, you need a better holster or a cheaper gun, or maybe a lighter one. At least USPSA has the silly P in the name, and I was the vince king of USPSA I would require all guns to stay holstered with obvious exceptions for bathroom breaks, safe table activities, etc. If you are worried your gun will fall out, get a better holster. If you are worried about the the weather, get a gun that at least pretends to be practical and doesn't turn into a $4k rust covered VW bug when it mists outside. If it is too heavy, get a a lighter gun. The range command is if clear hammer down holster, not if clear hammer down fumble with gun condoms. At steel matches, sure whatever, we don't even require holsters for rimfire so yeah bag away, but if your USPSA gun can't live on your hip for a few hours, maybe it is time to re-examine your equipment choices. But that's me, and I don't actually want to be king of USPSA so feel free to do whatever you wish within the rules.
  3. I'd like it if they could level the playing field. Most of the range's I've seen have uneven ground and you end up with puddles and trip hazards. If USPSA wants to send over a dude with a road roller and a few trucks of gravel to all the ranges, I'm really cool with that use of my membership monies.
  4. I've decided to listen to KurtM (god save me!) and this year I've been running a single choke for everything, namely LM. I haven't gone as far as soldering it in place, but I went with the Briley Spectrum extended beretta/benelli Mobil choke and I've been quite happy. I figure if I end up needing to use one of the 3 chokes it came with during a match, then I'll order another Briley for that size/constriction.
  5. Larry/Howard, do you happen to have a link to the current FNH rule book?
  6. Hehe .. that fits with the whole "This is West Virginia, things are different" thing he likes to say
  7. Oh I dunno ... looks far more appetizing and "meat-like" then the last Mcdonalds meal I've seen.
  8. There are ways to mitigate that. My local club runs an indoor friday night match and they use steel. We have these 3 piece steel shields, basically 2 sides an a hat about 18" wide and they fit about 2 mini poppers or hinged plates under them. Those things have been there since before I started shooting USPSA, so 14+ years and still work. You can see one of them towards the end of this video, on the right, with one plate and one mini popper.
  9. You can certainly use steel poppers indoors as well. I'm not understanding how that matters.
  10. As far as I can tell they are the same part number.
  11. Sights. I break them a lot. You don't so much aim through the fiber hole, if the light is bright enough the hole acts as the fiber would.
  12. Are you kidding? This year there will be fire rings around the slide, after we talk them out of the razor blades You will however have a choice of taking a 10sec penalty instead of taking the lion with you down the slide. FNH is probably my favorite match of the year
  13. Unless you had a target glued to the baffles this is a non-issue. Common sense is actually allowed to occasionally show up, despite the what some people will like you think
  14. All I can tell you is that mine has been flawless so far.
  15. I'm not sure the warranty applies. They are an wear items, and Brownells made it pretty clear that they have limited lifespan.
  16. Extractor is available at Midway http://www.midwayusa.com/product/687794/benelli-extractor-super-black-eagle-ii-m1-m2-montefeltro-supernova-12-gauge-montefeltro-20-gauge
  17. I'm pretty sure my CZ used to do that with FMJ bullets with crimp not being an issue.
  18. With my "shooting shoes" I wear some version of these: http://www.backcountry.com/stoic-merino-comp-trail-crew-sock-1pr I however got them on sale for $4 and bought 5 pairs at once. I do like them particularly because they are labeled for R and L foot, which if you ever seen me get dressed in the morning you would understand it is a big help.
  19. The Arrendondo's won't fit in any of the available magwells as far as I know. That may or may not matter to you.
  20. It depends. I used to think none, but recent experiments on my part plus advice from the statisticians at Western has convinced me that "it depends". Chrono some more, vary ONLY the crimp and chrono some more. I think different powders and different bullets will react differently to changes in crimp.
  21. Personally I like my M3000 (as worked over by MOA) better then my buddies 1301. I also would prefer an M2 over 1301. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a 1301, I just like inertia guns more. My suggestion is to go shoot any gun you plan on buying, and don't buy it on what I think or what anyone else thinks. Find which one you like to shoot.
  22. Get a locking holster. See is Safariland or someone makes an ALS type holster for your gun with/without light. That way it is locked in when you need it to be, but really fast with zero retention when you want to get it out of there. Heck, I think a locking holster is a must for 3gun anyway, I've seen to many people DQed for dropping their handgun while running.
  23. Aren't there some bolt action slug guns that are getting close to 1 MOA with specialized ammo? Anyway, for my unrefined taste if I can keep the holes in the paper touching at 50 yards off hand, I call that more then good enough (and also the gun zero'ed).
  24. Slam fires or doubles? That is the big question. Is the gun firing when you drop the bolt with the finger off the trigger or is the gun doubling when shooting from a bench at a slow rate? Is the finger on the trigger when this happens? If it is indeed a slam fire, gun fire when the bolt moves forward with finger off the trigger, then try it with the safety on. If the gun fires with the safety on and the hammer doesn't move, then make sure the firing pin isn't jammed. If the hammer is following you have a trigger group and or safety issue. If the gun only does this when the finger is on the trigger after a first shot and you get a double, the possibility of bump fire by the shooter is really high.
