  1. Ok, so .. how stuck is the round? Does it fall freely out of the chamber if you retract the bolt and tip the gun muzzle up or do you have to mortar it out of the gun? If you mark up the rim of a case and get the case back out, can you see if the extractor marked the rim at all?
  2. Have you checked if this also happens with factory ammo?
  3. I'll add that personally I don't like the 10/22 option. Tom build my Stoeger and I asked for the 10/22 sight, but I find that I really dislike it. This isn't Tom's fault at all, it may be just how I hold a a gun, but I think the 10/22 option is too tall even when machined into the rib as low as it is. Basically even with the sight folded down and a mark on the rear of it I still shoot high at 50 yards by as much as 6". To make it work for me I had to remove the movable blade, mark the rear of the sight, and I still have to very careful to lower the front bead enough. I can make solid hits at all silly distances so it "works" but in retrospect I wish I had gone for the XS option. This could be in part because I think I have a "defective" rib on my barrel. It looks to me like the rib is not straight on the barrel, the rear of the rib if a VERY tinny bit to the right o of the receiver, but then it wraps around the barrel and it ends up being a bit to the right of center at the muzzle end. For birdshot targets it doesn't seem to make a huge difference, but for slugs it leads to the gun shooting the right when the sights are "aligned". This might also mean that the front sight is lower then it should be, leading to my elevation issue. Tom, I tried to take some pictures for you but it is hard to get the right perspective with the camera's I have. I talked to Stoeger, they said they'll look at it but it is a 8 week wait and they suggested I wait until end of the season to send it to them.
  4. It actually looks like you may be outrunning the mag? Maybe it is my eyes but it look like the bolt cycles fully and just gets ahead of the mag. Did you dry a fresh mag or mag spring? Also maybe REDUCE the gas and see what happens?
  5. Go with 10rd. You may never shove those extra 2 rounds in there or maybe you will. If nothing else you won't feel less then ofa man when you place your gun on the preload table and everyone has those long protuberances sticking out of theirs and you have stubby one.
  6. What empty chamber starts are you referring to? 8.1.4 Unless complying with a Division requirement (see Appendix D), a competitor must not be restricted on the number of rounds to be loaded or reloaded in a handgun. Written stage briefings may only stipulate when the handgun is to be loaded or when mandatory reloads are required (when permitted under Rules 1.1.5.1 and 1.1.5.2). Unless the competitor forgets to rack the slide, the start position is either loaded or unloaded. Eh? Read 8.1.3. I think 8.1.4 means I can't stipulate 8 rd in a mag in production, not the condition of your chamber.
  7. And that is a very interesting point as well, because if you have a canted holster and you load a mag in the holstered gun, you are now loading pointing the completely wrong way.
  8. Nope, course of fire starts at "make ready". For example if you drop your gun after make ready welcome to a DQ, if it fall out of the holster before no biggie. Finger in the trigger after make ready is the same deal, etc.
  9. Loading ............................The insertion of ammunition into a firearm. Loading is completed when ammunition is inserted and firearm is in battery, (slide forward or cylinder closed), and ready to fire It may not be completed until you put one in the chamber but ... how about those empty chamber starts? In any case I'd say the moment you start the loading process you are "loading", not when you finish it. Thus, the gun not pointing downrange as required by 8.4.1 is a no-no. I suppose you could get the RO to allow it by asking and then it would be an RO authorized direction, but really .. draw the gun and point it downrange.
  10. 8.4.1 When loading, reloading or unloading during a course of fire, the competitor’s fingers must be visibly outside the trigger guard and the handgun must be pointed safely down range or in another safe direction authorized by a Range Officer Seeing how the handgun is not pointing downrange I'm going to say that is a no-no.
  11. Depends on the gun, on Stoegers and 1301's you can unload them by depressing the lifter and rocking back the bolt release and catching the rounds one at a time.
  12. Maybe lube your cases a bit more? I also use One Shot, fairly liberally, maybe I'm getting more inside the case mouth and it helps?
  13. I'm running the 18" nordic, full gas (as the nordic full goes), the Voodoo carrier on a RIFLE length recoil tube. It ran like a peach with a standard rifle buffer and spring, and it runs even smoother with a completely empty rifle buffer. I now that doesn't actually help you, but I guess what I'm saying mine works fine. Check that your gas block or tube are not obstructed? Any unusual signs of wear inside the upper or on the carrier? Any obstructions inside the gas key?
  14. Midway carries it: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/687794/benelli-extractor-super-black-eagle-ii-m1-m2-montefeltro-supernova-12-gauge-montefeltro-20-gauge Works fine in my gun.
  15. I think that if crossfit creates the perfect level of fitness, then the people at the top of the crossfit pile should be able to dominate most sports. Ok so may be not some of the overly technical ones like pole vault or shooting which requires some specialized skills .. I suggest we should test that theory by having crossfit "champions" or whatever they are called (I dunno what they use as equivalent operating thetan levels) should enter some events in some of the sports use a more generalized set of skills. I think rugby would be a good first test of speed, balance, and strength. That would be some jolly good fun to watch.
  16. That's not entirely correct. There have been and still are a number top level shooters who did not fit the mold of the hyper fit skinny dude. This isn't to say it doesn't help to be fit, I'm just saying that that isn't the entire story.
  17. You guys need to keep in mind this isn't all about winning. Sure, it is faster to do your own correct reloads and if you need to be reminded you are not going to be hand fed grapes by maidens in the winners circle, but you know .. you might just beat the other C shooter for high C instead of the other way around. Competitive edges are edges at all levels, and no a watch reminder won't make you beat GMs, but that is not all the competitions there is.
  18. And you know something? The Stoeger guns are good looking. They have pleasing lines and proportion, I think I like their looks more then other guns in the game, except maybe the new A5 I know .. I know ... I'll mail in my man card on to the address on the back.
  19. I dont think the tech is there yet to be a true game changer. However .. give it a few years, create a device that lets me program my stage run ahead of time by just walking it and recording it, then play it back as I run the stage or maybe notice when I deviate from it .. might not make a difference in USPSA but it might make a difference in those long 3gun stages. Might make a difference in telling you to correct your aim for those 500y targets. I can see a faster and smarter google glass painting a crosshair in your field of vision simply by observing where your handgun is, with no electronics attached to it. I think eventually we'll have to have the conversation, I'm just not sure we are there yet.
  20. thats not open a heck of a lot, is it? They've moved the number but almost seemed to have forgotten why they did it?
  21. Meh, whatever load I shoot in USPSA. I can't be bothered to have two different loads.
  22. I'm a bit confused .. how does this make a difference? Just because it more flexible?
