IMHO the "problem" with USPSA multigun is too little too late. Many outlaw matches means that everyone has a different way of doing things and are unlikely to change to one national organization. The other "problem" was the requirements for formally trained ROs. Not as easy as only might think to get the USPSA MG endorsement. Even when you do get it there isn't an annual refresher so it's too easy to fall back on the pistol ruleset. Lot's of heartache over those ROs who are well intentioned but don't know how competitors coming from other matches may feel some sort of way.

There needs to be time for lunch, but see more and more picky eaters. To me providing cash for the ROs to bring their own or making a sandwich run to Jimmy Johns or the like seems the way to go. As a shooter having food available for purchase is convenient, but if I know ahead of time to bring a sandwich I will.

+1 to Cha Lee on the match hotel. I think they were a bigger thing when we had a formal awards ceremony for level 3 and nationals in that hotel. Providing a recommendation on hotels is worth while.

Tony is right. It's not a 3 gun match anymore. Just like adding PCC to a pistol match. It does make comparing overalls more difficult. It does drain some pools. It does change the flavor and flow of a match. It does change stage design. Something that you don't see in most UML matches I've shot is close hoseing static shotgun clays. This is because those targets need to be able to be shot with pistol rounds too so they are at 10 yds and steel. On the plus side I know people that have shot the 2 gun matches that wouldn't have shot a true 3 gun as well as USPSA PCC people that came out to the UML match weekend. Not new shooters, but regular shooters coming out more often. The last comments about well rounded are I think why I don't really enjoy shooting my KL12. It isn't a shotgun. Its a rifle that shoots birdshot. I grew up shooting shotguns and birds so I enjoyed my vent rib SX3. The birdshot rifle may be more competitive, but it isn't as fun or as pure.

Anything where you need more precision. Be it foot work, shots, stage plan ect. Stages go hoser --> technical --> memory. Memory have a bunch of hidden targets or ones that can be engaged from multiple locations. Scoring these you will see targets with 4 holes and others with none.

HHF is how stages are scored too. Back in pen and paper days these were an effective measure and easily understand. USPSA HF scoring is already complicated, adding any more math even behind a computer would cause people to lose their minds.

There are matches in Tulsa and Houston. I don't think you will see a lot if any matches put on by Pete out east just due to travel costs unless the host club has everything needed. Any club can download a copy of the rules and start using them. They can also pick and choose which divisions they allow at a match. Limiting divisions helps deepen the pool in each.

I have one. It has some side to side play. And I'm not sure if it's the TACCOM bolt but I feel some trigger slap. Happened with the GI trigger too.

As long as people don't get too hung up on the national results I think the postal matches could take off. NRL22 does this every month and people seem to be happy. For clubs without creative stage designers it seems like a great idea to have a new set for each month. I don't want to use the same ones every month, but I suck at designing stages so this might make things easier. Especially if there is a standardized build list so clubs know exactly how many and what type of props they need.

Another way to look at it is a end of runway check. Aircrew move flight controls and other fast checks just prior to take off even though they checked them on the parking spot during their pre flight. It is unlikely anything broke while taxiing out, but it doesn't take long and they could return to parking to fix anything and we could return to the safe area to fix any issues. Hope many times you see an open shooter forget to turn their dot on?

Only reason fore grips are permitted is the handful of new shooters that still have them on their rifles. If only to make things more clear I would have eliminated them entirely from the rules.

Buying brass is a good fix to your troubles. Even with a 1050 stepped brass can cause issues. Plus it is more convenient than picking it up.

Winchester 124gn NATO is about 154 PF in my open guns. It makes 168PF in a 16" PCC. It works great in open guns that struggled with real minor ammo. Also know folks that bent trigger pins in Glocks, so it is stout.

1050 had a steep learning curve for me and the swadge rod isn't fool proof. Maybe it's because I loaded for years on a 650, but the 1050 seems more complex that it needs to be and the extra stations don't really seem to help all that much.

Joe4d is spot on. Adding a convenient fee for those that want to shoot and scoot can work if done correctly. You need to identify people in advance that are paid and those who aren't. Too often you will get some people that will staple a target or 2 and say they setup. One club I shoot at doesn't want anyone who isn't a club member to RO. Last match it cost them 2 squads worth of shooters. I've also been to matches where people think since they've paid a match fee they don't need to help tape or reset. There was a lack of leadership and a sense of who was really in charge to set expectations and manage range setup and tear down.

Last 2 matches that I attended that "required" buckshot in the ammo count sent out didn't actually require them. 1 you were given an option to use buck on steel knock downs at 35 yds that after going home and testing would have went down with bird and a full choke. The other had poppers set at 35 yds along with slugs on the same stage. They ended up prohibiting buck on the stage so folks loaded the heaviest bird they had or choked up, or both. Shooting slugs on a full choke is not something I prefer to do.

I'm sure that was a joke. I load to 172 ish as it leaves me with plenty of margin for a slow chrono or any other potential issues. As stated earlier, tuning yourself to the gun and the load will yield more results than a bunch of tinkering.

Last time I was on Bagram Air Field they had different threat conditions that told us how we were supposed to carry the M9. Also in 3 gun they have a lot of empty chamber starts for pistols due to worry of people's guns falling out while doing something else. "Cruiser Ready" is what 1 local club called it

I'd probably mix it up. Or go to the one that was run better, had something else to do in that town. Classifiers don't mean that much to me.

Club I liked in Vegas did 4 officially, with 2 outlaw like you describe. Basically an all steel USPSA COF. Thing is it all counted as 1 match so the whole thing was unofficial. If you want scores to count run 2 seperate matches and ppl get best of both. It hurts/helps the 22 ppl to shoot stars so the old club didn't have anyone shoot those pee shooters.

Powder options are cited for 38 super, but then I see people still using HS6 and the same powder charge as my 9mm major.
