  1. seems like slim pickin's out there. brother is looking for a 2011 either edge, eagle, tactical or marauder, kindly advise if you know of any stores that have some, thanks.
  2. polish plate rack = way more entertainment
  3. with the comp, you're in Open division, and a .40 isn't as competitive as the 9/38 variants due to mag capacity. i wouldn't call it an equivalent as the platforms are totally different, but the STI Edge is one of the more popular 'stock' .40's in Limited division.
  4. the tuned 140 mags i got from brazos hold 20 of .40 (and they confirmed that capacity), with the dawson snl basepads and i think it's the grams spring/follower.
  5. in general i prefer the gen 4's over the 3's just because of the grip stippling, a lot easier to hang on to. i'm not good enough to tell the diff between the different guide rods/springs.
  6. well you can get a blade tech DOH and crank it down when needed, and it's a great holster for uspsa limited. but i wanted more retention and got the blade tech wrs. i'm pretty happy with it but it is a little bulky but has superb retention. it worked perfectly with my Edge (with hammer up or down) but with my Eagle i had to open up the bottom of the holster to let the barrel peek thru; otherwise the hood wouldn't close when the hammer was down. not sure if g-code makes a holster that fits, but i like the way the hood is removed better (pressing a button vs a flap).
  7. no way "shoot t1 - t3" can be construed to say t1, then t2 then t3. it means 'shoot those three targets' and no order is implied or stated.
  8. sti eagle 9mm will let you do esp in idpa if you ever want to. perfect for steel matches and of course 3 gun. love mine and definitely shoot it better than my glocks.
  9. 10# spring on one piece guide rod worked for me with atlanta arms 180g minor ammo. almost felt softer than my similar gun in 9mm.
  10. yeah get a buddy or two to shoot it and see where they hit. I was at a range last year and a guy was hitting consistently low left. I shot his gun and was hitting dead center. worked with him on his trigger control and he started hitting center also.
  11. yeah 9mm is the lowest-recoiling round legal in 3 gun, ditto for steel matches. but if you're shooting uspsa limited you might want to get a .40 so you get Major scoring, and then shoot .40 minor in 3 gun and steel (just need a lighter recoil spring and spare guide rod). shooters connection looks to have some 5" Tacticals in .40. STI Marauders also have the rail but are more expensive.
  12. Not sure why the big change. Kinda like buying McDonald's. And getting rid of big Mac, mcmuffin etc.
  13. arredondo's (+5) are all I've used but they've worked perfectly and are easy to disassemble and clean.
  14. i have a 4" tactical 2011 9mm I bought for carry and have done a few idpa and similar matches with it with no issues. have a 9mm eagle that I'm currently using for idpa, steel and 3 gun and absolutely love it. if you need a rail, sure you'll similarly love the 5" tactical.
  15. advice given to me was go to next plate and finish the rack (let's say left to right) and then go back R-L if needed.
  16. I just use Serengeti polarized sunglasses, bought at Costco and online. fit perfectly, hold up great. Serengeti's seem to let a lot of light in (easier to see targets) but remove the glare vs other sunglasses I've used.
  17. i bought a bladetech WRS (hood retention) for my Edge and the Edge fits perfectly. It fits my Eagle perfectly, except a) i had to switch out the rounded hammer for a flat hammer and i had to drill out the bottom of the holster because the Eagle's barrel seems to protrude an 1/8 inch or so more than the Edge. I had to do these as the hood wouldn't slide over the Eagle's hammer when the hammer was down, but it worked perfectly when cocked and locked. If you order the WRS specifically for the Eagle, i assume it would fit without any alterations.
  18. Yeah 9mm with topped off mags would let her focus on mechanics and accuracy without needing much stage planning re reloading.
  19. I shot an IDPA sort of 3 gun match and wore my 3 gun gear for the non-idpa stages. Some jagoff wearing a proper, shoot me first, vest with name and logos was lamenting over the tactical ninjas there. He told the new shooters that USPSA was just fast shooting while IDPA was more about accuracy.
  20. race for both uspsa and steel challenge
  21. got a sti 2011 eagle a few months ago in 9mm. i'm definitely shooting better with it than my glock 17 and 34, no question about it. i use in idpa esp and also use in 3 gun and steel matches. i am so happy i got this gun! it's a LOT more money though. the gun is some 3-4x more than a glock and mags are 4-5x. and quite frankly while it runs great (most matches no issues), it doesn't run 100% like my glocks, but to me the tradeoff of ergos, accuracy, etc are worth it. while i have gotten better, i haven't bumped up a classification rung yet, so the whole indian vs arrow thing holds true.
