  1. for glock 34/35 - blade tech DOH with stingray belt attachment. remove the drop/offset piece for idpa, use it for uspsa.
  2. i haven't used or tried anything but arredondo's for my glocks in 9 and 40 but they have worked perfectly, no issues and no thought of trying anything else.
  3. my guess why they have that rule is so that something isn't flapping around, possibly getting in the way of a safe draw or re-holster. that definitely isn't the case with the hood on the WRS, which stays clearly out of the way. but i did ask uspsa specifically about the WRS and they said that the hood did need to be engaged.
  4. just sold my trijicon 1-4x24 with green dot. really loved it, nice bright glass, green dot got me on target very fast. just that 4x hasn't been enough magnification for me lately, with some unpainted and shaded and obscured targets. having some hash marks would be nice for holdovers but at 3 gun distances not a huge deal if you know target size
  5. i finally gave in and stepped up from 1-4 to 1-6.5, now that they have come down in price a little. haven't shot a match with it yet but hoping it makes a decent difference. last match had obscured, unpainted and shaded targets out to 300 yds and 4x just wasn't cutting it. other than price and maybe a little more weight, not sure of any downsides to going with 1-8x and you certainly don't need to crank it all the way up and lose field of view if targets are close enough for lower magnification.
  6. yeah i swore to myself i'd stick with my 1-4 scope and not drop the coin on a 1-6, but since they've come down in price a little decided it was something i didn't want to do without. it never ends. but i still haven't bought a true 3-gun shottie yet...
  7. i recently bought a sti tactical lite for periodic carry. either open carry or OWB concealed under a jacket. isn't much bigger than the mid sized glocks (19/23/32). just using a bladetech DOH holster with the offset piece removed.
  8. i have the bladetech WRS for my edge. frankly the hood isn't super-easy to disengage. you press the lever but the holster seems to give/flex a little so you have to press harder. i was told the carbon fiber body was stiffer which made depressing the lever easier. but you are 100% sure that puppy ain't coming out unless you want it to. also have the bladetech doh with no retention. problem is, to get retention you have to crank it down which of course makes it harder to draw, fighting the friction. i really wish that blackhawk made a serpa for it, which i use and love on all my glocks in 3 gun. button is super easy to depress and once you do there is no drag on the draw. but a couple of idiots end up with their fingers on the trigger, so it is somewhat disparaged. i spoke with someone using a g-code. similar to the WRS but you depress a button vs pressing a lever. seemed a lot easier.
  9. long day so i'm probably not thinking it thru, but why would lefties not like the charging handle on the left side?
  10. some of the steel matches (eg, PSA Shootout) just let you load 10 per mag, so having four to five is a good thing.
  11. i had similar issues with the glockworx 3-spring kit as well - the spring that goes down below the connector assembly definitely needs to be oriented correctly and sit in that very little detent. once I made sure of all this, they have been running fine in all my glocks.
  12. with my glocks i always use the blackhawk serpa for 3gun. super smooth draw after you depress the little button, super secure otherwise. just got a bladetech WRS for my STI (blackhawk doesn't make anything). super secure but definitely more bulky. and pressing the thingie to release the hood is definitely a harder proposition.
  13. 2nd on the wilson, i have one for my 1911. not sure if they do one for 2011 or not.
  14. i just use the blade tech single mag pouches that are not cant-adjustable, with the tek loc backs. use in 3 gun, idpa and uspsa, no issues. especially for 3 gun, i'm thinking fixed is better than adjustable that could self-adjust when you don't want them to.
  15. i've had no issues with arredondo extensions on glock mags whether indoors or out.
  16. i haven't tried others, but the arredondo +5 extensions (come with springs) work perfectly and are very easy to disassemble for cleaning.
  17. if anyone is shooting Atlanta Arms .40 Minor (130pf) in their STI Edge and could recommend a good spring weight, i sure would appreciate it. this would be with a regular guide rod and not a recoil master. This would be for 3 gun while i will be shooting major PF for USPSA Limited. I do not reload. thanks, david
  18. section 5.2.5.3 that mentions "strap" is before, and not tied to 5.2.8 that allows duty gear. using the bladetech WRS without the hood deployed is pretty much the same thing as using the bladetech DOH, so there is just no advantage to not deploying the hood vs using clearly production (and limited and open) -legal holsters.
  19. question - is the "hood" on the bladetech WRS holster considered a "restraining strap?" I'm thinking the rule pertains to thumb-break/snap straps which possibly could cause a safety issue if they were left flopping around and interfered with a safe draw. not the case on the WRS as the hood stays well out of the way if left open.
  20. i use and really like the blackhawk serpa in 3gun with my various glocks. positive retention, and zero drag on the draw once you depress the button. from advice on this board, i just got a bladetech WRS for a sti edge i have on order. i'm hoping it's different when i have the gun in the holster, but i have to put a lot of pressure on the release tab using my thumb to get the hood to release forward. if blackhawk made a serpa for the Edge, i would have gotten that. i do like the bladetech DOH for uspsa, but in 3 gun i really want retention to ensure the gun doesn't go flying out when running or going prone, without a lot of drag on the draw.
  21. i haven't shot revolver but would say that is the hardest - lots of reloading. from the other divisions, i'd say single stack is the hardest. reloading with skinny mags. plus you can't 'cheat' off how everyone with 10 round mags (production or L 10) shoots a stage.
  22. go for it, more than likely folks will loan you anything you need. my first local 3 gun i shot with a 3-round shotgun tube and cargo pants pockets filled with shotgun rounds. and i didn't come in last! make sure you let each stage RO know you're the new guy and he will let you go last on each stage so you can see (and learn from) what everyone else does. go slow, concentrate on getting solid hits, speed will come later. Ask the RO to review safety rules with you. Have Fun!
  23. i don't have any issues in uspsa, but in 3 gun with the add'l AR mag and shotgun caddies adding a lot of weight and taking up velcro real estate, i have less overap and the outer belt starts to come loose. i do stagger the belt seams (ends) and am thinking of using some sort of keeper or keepers, maybe just zip ties i can cut off at the end of a match.
