  1. I too removed the anti reverse ratchet. A real pain. I adjusted the primer seater once. My RL1050 is so old it did not have grease zerks. When Dillon rebuilt it after I had used it for about 18 years, they installed a new main bearing with zerks. Much better. I too used to load my match ammo before dashing out the door in the morning of the match. Great fun to complain about being delayed to load your match ammo before your coffee got cold. Read the manual. Study the machine. Ask many questions. NONE ARE STUPID. Lube it. Feed it good components. Try to wear it out in under 10 years.
  2. as a sister immigrant I congratulate her and you. I moved from Canada in 1977 and kept my Canadian citizenship to keep my job in Canada. When I became an RN in Michigan I became a US Citizen also, in 1994 IIRC. I have never regretted it.
  3. what IS a 'certified reloader' and how does that get you wholesale pricing?
  4. I loved the Daytona 24 when it was part of the world sport car championship. What the heck is a Daytona Prototype? Prototype of what? Daytona sports cars, just porsche racing porsche, no different than Nascar amoebe cars Hated to see Trans Am die in the early 70s. 1969- Mustang, Camaro,AAR'Cuda, Parnelli Jones, Mark Donohue,Dan Gurney; that was racing. CanAm, now THAT was incredible racing. McLaren, Chapparal, Lola, wow. ALMS is great racing.
  5. from Brownells article, 2 1/2 # trigger job by Jack Weigand : If after assembly the trigger seems to have a little creep, I use the old gunsmithing method of “boosting”. To boost the hammer, cock the hammer just as if you were going to fire the pistol. Apply moderate thumb pressure to the hammer so you are forcing it toward the slide and pull the trigger. If you do this approximately 10 times the creep is usually gone. If the creep remains, go through the entire trigger job process again and double check all of the operations to make sure they were all done correctly.
  6. SA Friday, I find your statement "Inhaling atomized particles has a faster reaction in the body than IV introduced chemicals." rather strange since inhalation just introduces the particle into the blood, IV, through the membrane wall of the lung. Since IV infusion via an IV catheter and absorption through the lungs each result in the the component in question arriving in the blood stream, claiming inhalation has a faster reaction seems spurious. The most important thing regarding indoor shooting is the introduction of clean air. I had my blood lead level hit 41mcg/dl. I used that to force the BOD of my gun club in MI to install proper ventilation. Our system was total loss. No recirculation. We had 2 inlet and 2 exhaust fans. Each inlet had a 125,000 btu burner so we could keep from freezing in the winter. After 14 months of no indoor shooting my level was low enough that my Dr. let me go indoors again. Even after I started shooting indoors my lead/blood level continued to fall. Opie, see your Primary Care Provider , and ask to have you blood tested for lead. The PCP can often just add it to regular blood screening. If it is in the safe level just have it checked 6 months later. If it is still in the safe range then have it checked annually or as frequently as your PCP requires.
  7. robot IQ is 63% zombies 65% mostly because I am disabled booze 83% - Lush. haha I don't drink! ( dad was a manager of an LCBO store - Liquor Control Board of Ontario and an alcoholic) dead I am worth $6,130 I did not do the 5 yr old test. I was afraid I would be taken down by ONE.
  8. I shot a winter match about 60 miles north of Toronto at the Sharon Gun Club. Sunny, don't recall the temp but sub freezing. I shot that match with my left arm in a cast after surgery on my wrist and elbow. No good for balance. I think I fell twice just walking between stages. I will stick with my beautiful desert.
  9. steeler pride takes a back seat to Green Bay Packers. Property values go UP as you get closer to the stadium. The fans pride themselves on keeping the open air stadium. And what other team is OWNED by its fans?
  10. adding Benny Hill clan to prayer list
  11. Carmoney, nice hammers; who made the rear sights?
  12. the recent quality problems may be the motivating factor in moving the factory to the USA!
  13. are the Thursday night stages as they were? They were almost always shot from one position, except Move Back, Speed Up! I could do that. Trouble is I cannot bend to pick up brass. Are the Revo matches shot from one position?
  14. when I started shooting a 45 my mentor allowed me to load on his Star Universal w/ Hulme case feeder. It was truly the Rolls Royce of progressive presses. IIRC the Dillon 1000 is a Star Universal converted to auto indexing.
  15. I have seen him on tv. They do slo-mo and he really is that fast. He can do it with live ammo. He also is an amazing long range shot.
  16. I have driven away without picking up my take out order. Steven, have you used the Wolf small pistol primers before? Have you shot recently? It has been warm this week.
  17. it does not look as bad as I imagined. When I had major abdominal surgery and had a HUGE incision to heal I took 1000mg of vitamin C daily and 400IU of vitamin E twice a day. As antioxidants they are supposed to promote healing. Although not as bad as I imagined I am sure it is very painful. Have you asked about adding tylenol and motrin to your pain management regimen?
  18. back when the .45acp was king of IPSC, the load was 200gr SWC with 5.7gr of 231Win for a power factor of 175
  19. I bought a 1050 in the 80s. I think it was in the 700s of production. Dillon has totally refurbished it to new and the 1050, being a 'commercial' machine does not have the the No BS Guarantee. It cost me $0.00. Don't worry about it. Dillon will take care of you.
  20. I am not meaning to be argumentative but I just looked at the Hornady site and the LNL AP press plus case feeder lists for $921.35. The Dillon XL650 w/casefeeder is $739.95. Where did you get such a deal on the Hornady?
  21. back in the mid 80s when we were all running .45acp 200gr SWC w/5.7g of 231W we tried to get a group buy on a manually operated Camdex. IIRC it was $1800. We tried to get 8-10 people to chip in to buy it but it didn't work out. Can't imagine what that press would be worth today. Oh well; I toughed it out and bought a Dillon 1050 for my personal use.
  22. i have used Ranier 124gr truncated cone .355" in my 9x23 @1375fps with groups 6" at 100yds.
