Gentleman Jim, what " 'they' call it the AMERICAN RIFLE"? -
I have the Dawson ICE magwell on my P14-45. I have a mag with an Arredondo extended mag pad. It took a bit of filing the upper corners but I can now reload with a full mag using the Arredondo mag pad. So, it is easier to fit the Dawson mag pads with the Dawson mag well but it is not an absolute must have. It takes a little fitting.

EGW, C&S, Don Golembeski-Kodiac Precision, (Para Pro Shop??), any advertiser in "Front Sight" who works on 1911/2011s, Accuracy Speaks, Dawson Precision, Clark Custom Guns. You have quite a few choices. There are many skilled gunsmiths throughout the country. Have you asked the Para owners at your local club?

the Mozambique is a good practice drill. It is not a USPSA stage.

Burner does not advocate the finger forward technique. Even in the late 80s when I had a private lesson with him he was not teaching it. When asked why he still used it he replied that after so many rounds he simply chose to not mess with something that, for him, was working.

a weld and refinish job would probably cost more than a new comp.

interesting thought. I look forward to the feedback.

I am just a little miffed. Marisa Miller stole my picture of me on the H-D!

Can I sponsor myself?
SharonAnne9x23 replied to badchad's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
when you 'sponsor' yourself you are actually being paid to advertise the company that 'sponsors' you. You are nothing more than a mobile bill board with advertising on it. You , the individual, are charging the 'business' for advertising. Forget sponsorship, it is advertising. -
Looking for a Holster to fit a 8 3/8 686
SharonAnne9x23 replied to rugerp89ipsc's topic in Revolver Forum
I have used a CR Speed holster for several years for my Para 9X23. I do not understand how you had a pistol fall out if it was properly holstered. -
I have used Rainier 9mm 124gr FP in my 9x23 major for several years. I have absolutely no complaints. I shoot them off the bench at a 6" round steel at 100 yds. When I do my part I hit 8/10.

I just checked the web pages of Remington, Winchester, Hornady, Federal, S&B and CorBon. I could not find one load that made USPSA major power factor. Actually none came close. Where does USPSA/IPSC come up with 9mmP making major in factory loads??? My apologies to Atlanta Arms and Ammo. They make .355Super, not 9mm major.
-
Rye, yes the 9 Supercomp is for 9X23 only. You can use it for 9MM Largo loads. You just must not shoot 9X23 POWER loads in a Largo pistol. Other than Atlanta Arms and Ammo, is there a 9mmP load that makes USPSA major?

become an RN. I am disabled now, but in 2006, my last full year in Nursing, I made $85,000. That is with 14yr experience but not a specialty. I worked Telemetry, that is, the heart monitor unit and I would float to Cardiac Care Unit. I expected to gross over $100k with overtime in 2007 but I was injured. If you are an RN and are able to work, the ONLY reason you will EVER be out of work is if you want to be. There is over a 2 million nurse shortage nation wide. Now if you become a Nurse Anesthetist, an Anesthesiologist assistant, you can make over $250k. The next time I go to the Pain Clinic I will ask the Nurse Practitioner how much she makes. It is a bundle.

My idea for a Caspian Ti Hi-Cap is for a 5" 9X23 carry gun. Winchester Silvertip or CorBon, 125gr JHP @ 1450fps. A genuine .357mag class autoloader. It would fit nicely in a vertical carry shoulder holster or in a proper 'holster-purse'. For open carry it would go in my Milt Sparks AT1. And Alan, you have too much money. That or I am just jealous.

I am confused. Why is anyone trying to make a 'glock' more 1911-like by installing a metal frame. It seems to me if you are going to the trouble to replace the frame with a metal one, and replace the slide with a Caspian 'glock' slide, why not just get a 1911? It most certainly is no longer a Glock. Once you have replace the frame/receiver, you no longer have a Glock. What is 'the gun'? It is the receiver/frame. So when you put a Glock top end on a CCF frame, you have a CCF, with a Glock top end. You do not have a Glock with a CCF lower.

Neo, the available notch widths are .110 and .125. I went with .125. I will not be shooting Sunday. Neo, have we met? I have not shot since 2004. After the 2004 USPSA Open Nationals my health took a nose dive. I had life saving abdominal surgery in March 2005. It took a long time to recover. I was just getting to where I thought I would start shooting in spring, of 2007, when life threw me another curve. At the end of March 2007 I broke my back, had surgery, contracted an MRSA infection in my spine, had 3 more surgeries, spent 50 days in hospital, and now have 6 fused vertebrae. Again, I hope I will be able to start shooting in the spring, of 2009 this time. the Brownells # are 078-000-0012AA for 0.110" notch and 078-000-0013AA for 0.125" notch

45ACP for the Standard Division
SharonAnne9x23 replied to Canuck63's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
the .40 has one more advantage over the .45 that has not been mentioned, torque. The .45 twists the pistol harder than the .40. It is more noticeable when comparing the .45acp and the .38Super, as happened in the 80s when the Super gained prominence in comp guns. -

Law Enforcement Tactical 3 Gun
SharonAnne9x23 replied to sbmd's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
i skipped most of the post. I used to shoot with my local PD back in Michigan once in a great while. I regularly embarrassed them, even when I used their equipment. Cops don't like to shoot with civilians because they regularly get waxed. Yes, there are cops that can shoot at a national level but they are few and far between. Sadly they are not willing to shoot with the best so they can learn. Education is the way to betterment, including shooting matches. The military has acknowledged that some civilians know better than the military, witness Todd Jarrett, Jerry Barnhart, Rob Leatham and other top Practical shooters teaching elite military units. Police training and skills will continue to lag behind top civilian as long as the police continue to have the NIH attitude. -
recently two 5" 686 S&Ws were shown on line. One with a full lug and one with a half lug. I WANT that half lug 5".!!!

when I practiced draw 2 reload/transition to another target 2, I could consistently do 1.25s. Single stack .45/1911 with an EGW mag well.
