  1. The EAA web page describes the EAA Elite Stock as IDPA 'legal' and USPSA Production 'quality'. They do not claim it is USPSA Production 'approved'. Slick wording.
  2. perhaps it is a matter of caliber. The pistols my friends have are all .38Super comp guns. We shot together for several years and I never saw them having problems.
  3. i have never owned a Les Baer pistol but I have friends who have 8 of them. I have never seen one need even 100 rds of breakin let alone 5000! If you have a Les Baer pistol that is not reliable I think you need to be talking to Les.
  4. Airedale, Jaxshooter, thank you so much! Perfect!
  5. I have used WSR exclusively for my 9x23 major loads. Federal Small Rifle primers should work fine for any pistol load. They are made for 50,000psi rifle ammunition
  6. winchester 1897, Springfield 1903, S&W 1917 In keeping with the eras, for WWII M1 Garand, 1911, which pump shotgun? Vietnam Era M14, 1911, 870
  7. I stand with my hand on the pistol grip. When ready I assume the designated start position. I have had ROs ask if I am ready when my hand is on the pistol. When I ask them if I can start with my hand on the pistol, they say NO, then I say, "guess I am not ready then". At a USPSA match the RO told me to give him a nod when I was ready. I said NO. From behind the 'RO' we heard 'she is right, she does not have to nod'. When shooters put up with sloppy ROs you will get sloppy ROs. When you, by your demeaner, demand the RO follow USPSA rules, then you get an RO who will do it right. When I RO, people 20 feet away can hear my range commands. I have no doubt the shooter can hear me. I follow USPSA range commands at USPSA matches and at the local Paper and Steel shoots on Tuesday and Thursday nights. As an RO do it right. As a shooter demand it be done right, not by words but by actions.
  8. the issue has been resolved and 5.56 and 7.62 once fired brass is again being sold. Some noobie in the Hussein administration panic'd when he read that all such material must be rendered useless. He missed the exemption that was in place for the brass.
  9. the Bushnell web page now shows a 6500 model that is 1.25-8x32. Sounds about right to me!
  10. come on guys! I am a wimpy girly-girl and I rack the slide from below on my P14-45 without front serrations with a 16# spring. I have always done it this way since a friend had the same kind of AD but he was holding the rear serrations with thumb on the right. When it fired the Bomar cut his palm open. I quickly learned to reach from under to the front of the slide. 2 of my pistols have front serrations; the P14-45 has no front serrations and I still do it that way.
  11. I think it depends on how much you CAN shoot. In Phoenix we can shoot a practical match every Tuesday evening, Thursday evening, and almost every weekend day of the month. If you take into account IDPA, USPSA and Paper & Steel I am sure you can shoot every Saturday and Sunday. That makes 16 opportunities to shoot, not counting practice sessions. I know a few guys who shoot together who rotate, LTD one week, single stack one week, Prod one week, Open one week, then repeat. You stay fresh on every gun. If you have aspirations to be a M or GM then stick with each one until you make it, then switch. If you want a slot to the nationals in a particular division then stick with one. It also depends on how many slots your club has in a division. When I have asked for an open slot, I got one, at Rio.
  12. you can make 'snap caps' by loading bullets in primerless cases. Put a dab of white silicone caulk in the primer pocket. It cushions the firing pin and identifies practice 'dummies'. With speed loaders you will want about 30 'dummies' to use with speed loaders.
  13. guy with blue hands, reject from Blue Man Group
  14. i see some confusion. You can repeat a classifier for classification purpose only. It does not count for match score. No one is allowed to continue shooting classifiers over and over at a match. I do not a couple of grand baggers who would practice classifiers over and over at home. One guy was a section coordinator. He regularly gets waxed by B shooters.
  15. i agree. treat them as you would any other 200gr 45. The big difference would be, are they cast or swaged?
  16. knock out the spent primer and fill the primer pocket with white silicone caulking. readily identifies them as dummies and gives the firing pin something to hit that is soft.
  17. Hodgdon now markets Hodgdon, IMR and Winchester powders. By the Hodgdon Reloading Center Data, the heaviest bullet that there is a Winchester powder load for is 69gr. I know other companies may have data for heavier bullets with Winchester powder in .223 but I give the manufacturers data more credibility.
  18. reshoot. It is impossible to determine if one of his bullets went through the larger hole or missed. The target cannot be accurately scored.
  19. go to the Brownells web page. click on Gun Tech, then How To's. look up "2 1/2# trigger job". It shows you how to adjust the leaf spring.
  20. did the bird do this before you started with the video camera? It may be trying to get to the red light on the front of the camera.
  21. the only 1911 parts that will not fit are: magazine catch, magazines, triggers, mag funnels, and power extractor. As far as I know, all other 1911 parts will fit. Do not count on any parts dropping in and working.
  22. Colorado Cast Bullet makes a 160gr RN that is made for the 9x19 although it is intended to be loaded to 1.250"
  23. Jimmy M, you beat me to it. Though I have not had Marty do any work. Jake did my last gun there, it has been a while Everything I have ever had done from Accuracy Speaks has been first rate, 1911, Open Para 9x23, AR15. Nelson rebarreled my K frame with a 1" slab sided Douglas and slicked up the action. Took 4th Lady with it at 2001IRC.
  24. happy customers tell one or two people. Unhappy customers tell everyone.
  25. at retail the SDB and Pro 1000 are similar price. I do not know anyone who pay retail for Lee products. SDB from Dillon $349.95 Pro 1000 from Lee $241.00 / from Midway $149.99 The SDB SELLS for more than twice as much as the Lee Pro 1000. I am NOT addressing VALUE.
