  1. Make sure you don't clean out the firing pin channel with anything oversized, like a bore brush. There is a plastic firing pin channel liner in the forward end of the channel, and a brush may pull it back out the rear of the slide. Once they are removed, it is best to replace them (recommended at the Glock armorer's course. I second the alcohol and cotton swabs. I so not use any solvent other than alcohol in cleaning the firing pin channel extractor spring channel and firing pin safety plunger hole.
  2. Just got the e-mail confirming my entry. This will be my fourth Gator, and each one was well run, well officiated, and the prize boxes were almost most equal to, if not exceeding the value of the entry fee.
  3. I dropped mine off at the Post Office this morning at 0830. I shot teh Gators in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and have enjoyed all of them. One of my squad amtes in 2010 was Brian Dubois, and he is a good guy so ya'll leave him alone, even if he is a rabble roouser.
  4. An old sniper t-shirt I used to have had this on the front: LONG DISTANCE: the next best thing to being there. On the back it had: LONG DISTANCE, reach out and touch someone.
  5. Except at the Heart of Dixie Shoot Out/Alabama Sectional this year.
  6. I have shot a lot of Speer Lawman FMJ and Speed Gold dot HP's, and like mentioned above, they are stout in a Glock 22. A couple of weeks ago I chrono'ing some loads and shot a copule of 180 Speer Lawman loads over the chrono from my oldest 6" STI. Three rounds averaged 1090 fps!
  7. Take a look at teh XLR Evoloution stock.
  8. There are quite a few other smiths' that use SVI barrels in their new guns and re-builds.
  9. I shot teh Alabama Sectiona lyetserday and wore my brand new Salomon Speedcross 3's for the first time. I've tried cleats, cross trainers, tactical shoes/boots ande a bunch of other stuff, and these were the most comfortable shoes to wear all-day tha I have tried. They are worth the money, even if the only ones in my size were black and lime green.
  10. I have noticed that most on teh kydex holsters without an active retention mechanism use an indent in the kydex which fits into the ejection port to retain the pistol.
  11. I ordered the holster without even knowing about the leg pad until I saw one on another shooter. I e-mailed Manny with an inquiry about the leg pad, and asked him send one. He replied within a few hours ande advised me he would put one in the mail and have his officer personnel e-mail me an invoice. the next day I sent a money order and on the third day the leg pad was delivered. He sent me the part before receiving the payment. How about that for service?
  12. I have owned both .300 win magnum and .300 Win Short Magnums, both in the Browniong A Bolt rifles. The short Mag was definitly more pleasant to shoot, especially with teh 150 grain TTSX solid copper bullets. I bought the WSM with a BOSS already installed and the reciol was pereptebl;y less with it. But man was it LOUD! I finally removed the BOSS and installed a thread protector. I still perceived the recoil as less than teh .300 Mag byt it did not require double plugging while hunting. I gave some thoughts to threading on a suppressor but never did "pull the trigger."
  13. Daniel, in both my Glock 35 and Glock 24 (before I switched to STI) my Lone Wolf barrels were signficantly slower than the factory. By carefully selecting magazines and loading prgressively longer, UI was able to increase my OAL to 1.141 to 1.143, With the bullet I use (Precision 185 moly) this necessitated having Lone Wolf long chamber the stainless barrels. I was using WSF at 4.6 grains. Not too far off from my STI loads with the same bullet and N-320. I did work on some loads for WSF and Winchester FMJ 180's that I worked up to a tenth at a time with the Lone Wolf barrel.
  14. I have been carrying a Glock every dayfor almost 25 years, and I never had one go off without me pulling the trigger on purpose.
  15. Sarge, didn't teh Tubes lead singer go by the moniker "Quay Lewd?"
  16. The same price listed on the web site: $3,195.00 plus $250.00 for the hard chrome.
  17. Some are 4.25" and some such as my Shuemann are 4.15".
  18. There are more frame choices that just short or long. You may choose short standard, short wide, long standard or long wide. My most recent 6" has a long slide with the classic type stirrup cuts, and a short side dust cover. On a wide dust cobver gun the frame is the same width as the slide. If you check the standard width, you will not that the dust cover is a bit narrower than the slide. then there is the tacticasl with rails. I do not shoot IDPA and am not sure of the limits, but I believe 1911/2011 guns are restricted to the short dust cover.
  19. I watched Max Jr. shoot most of the stages at teh LA Gator/Area 4 last year and I do believe he had a full auto-pistol.
  20. I hve three STI Limited guns, two with regular full length guide rods and one I bought used with teh Dawson tool-less guide rod. The Dawson is way easier to field strip for cleaning. I haven't considered replacing the other two because even teh standard full length is not that big a problem.
  21. I reload on a single stafe press and I can tell Winchester brass, and Speer brass from the other makes when sizing a batch. the winchester seems to fit tighter, but sizes very smoothly. The Speer brass hardly seems to feel like it is touching the die. Some of the European brass seems pretty hard to size and alomost feels "gritty" even those that have been cleaned first.
  22. I've been interchanging .357 and .40 mags since the .357 Glock was introduced. do it.
