I think it really depends on what features you want. If the CTS is outfitted exactly the way you want, it might be the way to go. I think people find it hard to justify the added $1000-$1200 cost because they only see the cosmetic/exterior difference and don't consider the gunsmithing and fitting that goes on. Yes, somebody that is inclined can do they same work but but it takes time. Time equals money... Maybe add up the cost of all the parts installed on the CTS, get a quote for gunsmithing/ and refinishing and see if it comes out more.
In my case, I started with a CTS. A local buddy was selling his with low rounds for a really good price. It was a no-brainer and had to jump on it. With that being said, I still ended up changing somethings. I removed the wide safety for a normal one, opted for the fixed rear sight and installed the rubber CZ grips.
