  1. +1 on KFN's post. Koski. The EOTac pockets are cut down and forward so they are well clear of the mag holders and open very easily. For me, it is very, very easy to slip the mag in the pocket, slide my hand up and back, clearing the cover garment to grab the next magazine. But as I said, this works for me. Everyone is different. Oh, I'd use the waistline/belt method too, if they were accessible. LOL
  2. I'll be there. I'm just glad it isn't supposed to be as hot and humid as the last one. And I'm bringing my Nikon to get a bunch of pictures.
  3. I also use Merrells. They are my everyday shoes as well. http://www.merrell.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/16674M/0/Mens/Moab-Mid-GORE-TEX-Wide-Width?dimensions=0 To add a bit, I have worn these to a US Nationals, Indoor Nationals and a number of state Championships and no one has said a word to me about them.
  4. That shouldn't be a problem. I was going to tip them forward, not out. thanks!
  5. Hey all. When shooting single stack, is it allowable to angle the magazine holders on the belt or do they all have to be straight upright? The reason I'm asking is because I think it would be easier to draw magazines 3 and 4 (and 5 if absolutely necessary) from the holders if they are angled a bit. I am going to try this setup at the next match if it is legal. Thanks!
  6. I LOVE shooting with the best people at the match. I learn so much from watching them. But...I do know that I can't shoot as well as they can so when the time comes for me to map out the stage, I make sure that I stay within my abilities. I do occasionally push the boundaries though.
  7. Micah, I just read that Wilmington (CCFSA) is going to hold another classifier on Oct. 2nd. I figured I'd post this here since you didn't make the one at PCSI.
  8. Wow! This was a cool thing to find out. Now I'm not going to have to worry about it at the next match. Thanks BOD!
  9. I DQd on the first stage of the first day of shooting at the only Level 2 match I've been to. Everyone was understanding and some actually apologized to me for DQing me. LOL I didn't have a problem with the DQ as I did something bone headed and deserved it. After I packed everything away I decided to just leave. It was still really early and I just didn't want to stick around for the whole day. If it had been later in the day I probably would have stayed and helped.
  10. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to steal that for a while. I may not be the "hot local shooter...," but this does describe me fairly closely. I did tend to screw up at larger matches and it really bothered me because I really wanted to shoot at the level I know I can shoot at. I realized that I was putting way more pressure on myself than I needed to. Now I go to shoot my game and have fun. I'll check my scores when I'm done.
  11. Video can be your friend. I learned a number of things I was doing wrong, or at least things that I could be doing better, by watching videos of myself shooting.
  12. I was in the same boat. I shot weaver and resisted the change, even in a training class, but then I started shooting IDPA, and now USPSA. Weaver is okay if you aren't moving and engaging multiple targets but try to stay in a weaver stance when you have to swing from one side to the other on the move. I almost guarantee you can't remain in that weaver stance.
  13. You're welcome. Grumble, grumble. LOL Glad you came! Hope to see you there next month!
  14. That means you remembered the mandatory reload in string 2, unlike someone I know. Could it be . . . oh, I don't know . . . maby . . . ME! Barely.
  15. I wish I had a better day. I came down with heat exhaustion and had to bug out early.
  16. you have shot in competition before so I'll second everyone and say go for it.
  17. I already forwarded the email to him. LOL I haven't heard back though.
  18. I"m glad I saw this post. I thought it was next week and I was planning on going. I guess I have to pack my range bag quickly to night. Edit: Well, I wasn't able to go after all. I didn't have enough warning of the change. Bummer.
  19. You're 1911 would fit just fine in the Custom Defence Pistol division. It just has to fit in the box and make weight. But, you should be able to shoot for a while before that becomes a problem. Local club matches are usually slightly more relaxed for people starting out. As for starting out in IDPA, sure! It is fine for that. It is a bit less gear intensive than USPSA so that will make it even easier.
  20. I guess you could download your first mag to 11, but I still load my LAMR mag to 10 and use a Barney mag. It's just such a part of my pre-shot routine. That is one way of always making sure you don't load too many.
  21. XDm mags hold about 19 so there wouldn't be a need for a barney mag.
