  1. It was just the opposite here. I shot the classifier today and I started "cocked and locked" on every string, the way it is supposed to be done.
  2. I ran a Glock 26 for a few matches a long time ago. In fact, I was shooting it better than my full sized guns for a while. Strange.
  3. This is the part that might make them illegal. You can't have weighted magazine bases in IDPA. You can't have parts that weigh more than .2oz I believe over what the stock part weighs.
  4. At the Indoor Nationals a few weeks ago, all the Coast Guard shooters were wearing their drop leg holsters as that is their duty gear.
  5. This is a picture of the group who were inducted. Bob Vogel is the only 3 division DM.
  6. Okay. After re-reading my post from over there, I guess I should have worded it different. The ones who were inducted Saturday have all won their division at either the Nationals, Indoor Nationals or were within 3% of the person who did win in the last 5 years. This is only the initial class. I don't know if they will make that criteria the only way of achieving Distinguished Master. I'm going to wait for the official announcement. After the banquet, We were talking with, I believe Robert Ray, and he told us that the DMs will only compete for the Division Champion award. It will be all or nothing. There won't be a 1st DM/MA awarded to a DM. You should have seen Dave Sevigny's face when he was called for the 1st MA award. You could tell that he had no interest in it. As for the other awards like High Industry, High LEO/Military, etc. I can't rightly say. That topic didn't come up.
  7. Robbie Leatham? Rob wasn't there but someone added to what I posted over there with these: Rob Leatham, Taran Butler, Donnie Burton and Curt Nichols These are the others who got the bump.
  8. I got my squadding notice a few days ago and placed myself on a squad. I do like the online self-squadding system.
  9. This is pretty much the way I am anymore. Although I do sometimes mutter an expletive when I know I royally screwed up.
  10. Very nice. I'm glad you got your new toy to play with before the season really starts. Jonathan Walls IDPA A29630 USPSA A-69312 Bend the knees, smooth is fast, watch the front sight
  11. Lately, I have been going to larger matches with one of the guys i shoot locally with. he is already much better than I am so that is nice. But, we both like shooting with the best people we can find. In the end, it is the best of both worlds. I have one friend on the squad and I get to meet a bunch of new people. As for the OP, I do find that shooting with the best people I can find helps me during matches. I have to make sure that I don't try to shoot at their level.
  12. While I'm not deaf, yet, I am hard of hearing. I have to wear powered muffs with the sound turned all the way up, and even then I have a hard time hearing some of the beeps from the timers. Especially the small ones like the CED 7000s. I have had quite a few RO/SOs tap me on the shoulder for the start signal. I have just never figured out how to get a stop command before is I can't hear anything. Anyone know of a manufacturer who makes a timer with a light on it? On another note. I'd really, really like to be able to use custom plugs, and maybe normal muffs to try and save what hearing I have left. I might send a link of this topic to a few people who are RO/SOs and see if I can use some of these suggestions.
  13. I had a very bad day and got a 63.18. I still came in 4th of all the shooters there. We had a lot of new and UN shooters. I did beat one EX so Yay me! LOL. The lowest for the day was Bill with a 42.42
  14. I just did that myself earlier in the week. I joined USPSA about 5 months ago. I finally got my first rulebook about a month ago. It seems to be the latest version.
  15. That's definitely true. We once set up the usual 6 stages and only six people showed up. LOL We finished shootingthe match in about 30 minutes. Set up and tear down took much longer.
  16. I have yelled STOP a few times. Most were due to a target falling over due to wind or something but a couple were for safety reasons. The shooter turned the wrong way and was breaking the 180. The SO/RO was there doing the same thing. I would never do so for any other reason, of course.
  17. In my area we don't have a USPSA clubs that shoots all year but there is one place that holds IDPA matches. I have shot matches where it had a high in the 20's, a couple feet of snow, etc. It does make life interesting.
  18. Nope. Kirk wouldn't do such a thing. It was at a club he doesn't shoot at.
  19. I have to admit that I have once pointed out to an SO something that a shooter did that was wrong and should get at least a PE. What the shooter did was purposefully lean so far out that when he shot two shots on one target he had pass-throughs to hit another target. Two shots and four holes. This let him reload at a more advantageous place and he only had to shoot 12 rounds instead of the required 14. That is just flat out cheating. Personally, I believe the guy should have gotten an FTDR instead of just the PE that was given to him but I didn't press the subject as I thought I made my point. I have, when watching someone shoot a stage, said to a friend standing next to me something like, "Ooooh, that was a preceedural." but I've never gone up to the SO and tell him about it or yell it out for everyone to hear.
  20. I am a mixture of these two thoughts. I prefer the front left front pants pocket for the same reason Steve says. I think it puts my hand in a much better position to sweep the vest to grab the next magazine. And I use the EOTac pants/shorts because the pocket cuts are very generous and give me a very nice target for stowing the mag.
  21. I too have done this. There are times when I finish the stage and think to myself that I got done with this thing really fast. I hope I didn't miss any targets. An example of this is a stage we did in a local IDPA match. The MD just returned from the Nationals and he used one of the stages for the local match. I went through and everything went right. My speed was great. My footwork superb. My accuracy was uncanny. I have never shot at distance that well. The SO even shook my hand as he knew how well I did on it. Once the scores came out I found the scores for that stage at the Nationals and compared my score with them. I beat out about half of all the Masters in all the divisions with my run. I couldn't believe it. Not bad for someone who barely makes sharpshooter on the classifier. LOL I have had a few other runs that were really impressive but that one is the best. One good thing is that those are happening a bit more frequently. I have to agree with those who said that stage planning is key. Get a really good plan burned in your brain and then just shoot.
  22. Just to make sure. You did weigh the gun with the magazine in it, right?
  23. My Trojan locks back. I don't use it very often though.
  24. This is the reason I had to stop being an SO. I have crappy hearing as it is and all that extra beating was making it worse. I have actually thought about giving up the sport all together just for this reason.
