  1. My suggestion would be Jeff @ Tommy Guns He has done some work for me that was above and beyond what I hoped for.
  2. Montana Gold or RMR for jacketed Xteme or Berrys for plated Summit or Blue for coated I'm contemplating casting and coating my own because I have accumulated 1000 pounds of lead. What is that, 60K 115gr bullets ?
  3. My take as well - they are good back up though - better than nothing
  4. I have used them. They work as advertised. I find the cheap foam plugs to be the most comfortable for me though so I have these in the range bag as back-ups.
  5. They just shipped 50 of them - first run to get all the bugs out. Initial reports are positive. There are a couple or Facebook Groups discussing them.
  6. If it won't case gauge or pass the plunk test then it hasn't been crimped enough. Keep turning the crimp die down until it does. And listen to Shred ^ He knows what he's talking about.
  7. 1911 45ACP mags are not nearly as finicky as the 40s or 9s are. Wilson, Tripp & McCormick mags all work - haven't tried the Dawson in 45 but can't see why they wouldn't.
  8. 115gr Blazer Brass is $ 300 / K shipped to CA My cost to reload using range brass is about $ 175 I'll keep reloading
  9. Reach out to Bob at Brazos and ask what his dimensions are.
  10. I like my FW stuff. The shell plates can be problematic and that has been well documented ; it is all due to the index pawl. I've run both the FW & TNT plates and they both work just fine. I upgraded the roller bolt and plunger cam from Immorto and that has made a huge difference. I also use the caliber specific case pusher covers. And of course the Dram Worx hopper.
  11. Don't quote me but I think the gun didn't fit the box.
  12. I heard all about it - glad I missed it
  13. I got to play waith a couple of the mags in my CGW griped STI steel challenge gun. Both the 140 & 170 were flawless. The gun runs MBX and Staccato mags just fine and these 2 were the same. Basepads come off easy and the TTI pads go on fine - didn't play with any followers/springs. Mostly becasue they worked out of the package so why ?
  14. Jeff Abernathy at Tommy Guns installed a couple of rackers for me. Turnaround was quick, price was fair and I was supper happy with the work. http://www.tommygunsusa.com/
  15. Making GM seems to be pretty straightforward as it's all about classifiers. If the GM or M is what you want, hone those skills needed to shoot good classifier scores. And no, you aren't too old. How's your eye sight ?
  16. Merlin ! Welcome back - how have you been ?
  17. upper unless you are using short / super light ( 90 gr ) bullets User manual here : http://www.mrbulletfeeder.com/downloads/
  18. IMHO, a comp on a sub-minor open gun is not needed ; all for looks. A bushing barreled 2011/1911 will work just fine. This is still a bit of a work in progress but it runs 100 pf loads just fine. Balances wonderfully. For the life of me I can't remember why it has ambi's.
  19. I understand the gun part but it sounds like you are using major PF ammo to shoot SC. That is overkill and counter productive.
  20. Why ? Major for SC is like using an 18 wheeler to bring home a gallon of milk from the store. And we've been through this over and over - rifle primer in pistol loads is not a good idea. It will work, but not a good idea.
