  1. I have 169, ( i was experimenting with different loads last year and bought two 100 packs ) that i don't need anymore. If you want them, just pay for shipping ($6 ) and they are yours.
  2. Read the rules! “I’m new this is my first match” is not a valid excuse for breaking safety rules. If you don’t know the intricacies of the scoring system no one will care, they will explain it to you. If you don’t know safety rules and no one will want to shoot with you. DO NOT PUT YOUR GUN IN THE HOLSTER AT YOUR CAR. There will be a safe area at the range, use it to handle your gun all you want. NO WHERE else on the range, and that includes the parking lot, are you allowed to handle your gun. When you register at the range, tell the person you register with that it’s your first match and ask if anyone is interested in showing you the ropes. Odds are there is, and they’ll squad you with them. Listen to what that person tells you! Walk, don’t run. Unless you’re The Natural, you’re not going to win, so don’t try to. Get the feel for walking around and shooting at targets and reloading. You have a Shadow, if you want to shoot Production you’re going to need at least 5 mags. If you shoot Limited, the three you have are good to go. IF you shoot Production, at the start, after you make ready and load the gun, you will have to lower the hammer manually. Do this as many times as you can in the comfort of your home with a dummy round or empty chamber before you try it on the range. If you've never done it, it will be unnerving and you might slip and you’ll set the round off, and you’ll be DQ’d. And Yes, you do have to lower the hammer fully, you cannot use the safety, that’s the rule. ( For limited you can use the safety and skip this step ). Once you do this a few times you will get the hang of it. It’s not hard, but give it your UNDIVIDED attention every single time. Have fun!
  3. Sounds like the kind of place you'd hear a range command like "load and make sexy".
  4. Black Diamond Grip Tape. $8.50 with free shipping from Amazon for a longboard sized sheet that will likely last you for many, many years. It comes in a lot of colors and patterns as well. http://www.amazon.com/Black-Diamond-Longboard-Grip-Sheet/dp/B0013T1NZS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405296431&sr=8-1&keywords=black+diamond+grip+tape one tip on grip tape. I haven't tried black diamond so can't comment on it, but I have tried a number of skateboard tapes. I liked the very rough feel of them, but the adhesive was a bit crap. particularly the piece on the backstrap would come loose after not a lot of shooting and they would shed a fair bit of their grit when new (don't like loose grit floating around on my gun, or on my hands). the best stuff I've found all round (nice grip feel, no loose grit coming off it, great lasting adhesion) is 3M branded stuff called 'safety walk'. it comes in a few colours but I just use black. the downside is it's a bit expensive. the upside is a roll will last just about for life as you have to change it much less often than other types. I think the one i use is either the general purpose or the coarse. check them out: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Facilities-Care-Cleaning-NA/commercial-cleaning/cleaning-supplies/?N=7799107&rt=c3 http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Facilities-Care-Cleaning-NA/commercial-cleaning/cleaning-supplies/?N=6702665&rt=c3 This stuff is similar http://www.lowes.com/pd_256841-56131-124660_0__?productId=3028788 i used it on my grips and it works really well. Very agressive, last a while.
  5. They must take several factors into account. If you're who i think you are ( Brian S? ) then I finished two places above you at Area 6, winning A, but I did not get bumped to Master. While I won A, I finished behind 11 Masters. You finished 1st B, but also finished ahead of all of the A's except one. probably why you got bumped.
  6. Gump, first off, yes the Racers allow you to tilt them. Second, just know that if you run the bullets out, you'll need to do a small modification. When you mount the Racers bullets out, the screw that attaches the pouches to the hanger is too big to clear the adjustment wheel. It will get in the way. All you need to do is chuck up the screw in a drill and run it against a flat file. Turn down the diameter a few millimeters and it will clear the adjustment knob. It sucks you have to do this, but it is necessary. You might be able to go to Ace or Lowes and find a screw that fits better, but why pay for something, even if it is just a couple of bucks, when you don't even have to leave your bench and take care of it. It's easy, and will take you just a few minutes.
  7. What he said. When I shoot my stock 2 in steel challenge its more to be on the range shooting, I use it as practice and have fun, don't get me wrong, I still want to win too! I always shoot first shot DA so that I get more practice, under the pressure of competition shooting that first shot in DA like you have to in Production.
  8. If you're going to shoot production stay away from the Mec-Gar 18 rounders. They look similar to the CZ Mags, but they are just big enough to not fit in the box and will cause you to be bumped to open. I was always partial to the CZ 18 rounders. I liked the base pads. The MecGar 16 rounders are nice, but after pinching the skin on my palm on a reload ( to the point i had to eject the mag to get it out ) I stopped using them. That was a personal preference thought. The mags themselves are great. Check out www.gregcotellc.com for mags, usually has what you need and the best price. +1 on the +10% mags. You'll know when you need them when you start leaving bullets like bread crumbs on the ground. Be careful with the +10% though, give them a good workout before you shoot a major match. They can cause the slide to not go into battery all the way. Happened to me at FL Open two years ago. Minor issue during practice or your local, absolute nightmare if it happens at a major. Holster - Ghost Stinger, Blade Tech DOH are both very good. Belt = either DAA, CR Speed. Just know the DAA is a B*tch some times to get things on it. It's made that way on purpose, so if you get it, just know it will be hard to get the equipment on it. But once it's on, it's awesome, they don't move around at all. Mag pouches, I like the DAA Racers. The Racemasters are nice, but they're expensive and HEAVY. 4 or 5 of them on your belt is heavy. The racers are essentially the same design, but plastic. I had the Racemasters and sold them to switch to the Racers, haven't regretted it once. Start collecting extra parts. Springs, ( recoil, Main, Trigger Return are the biggies ), Slide Stop, you will eventually break one at the worst time, have a back up ready. If you don't know about it, this forum ( http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php ) has TONS of information on it. They are CZ Nuthuggers to the extreme, if you have an issue/problem/question and you post it over there, you'll likely have an answer before you know. Some of us here are on that site as well. I'm GJA7 over there, but since I started shooting a Tanfo Stock 2 i am not on the site as much anymore. Good luck.
  9. It always scares me when you and I agree Matt. But I see your point in the sweeping explanation about the straight line. I don't see anything about "a straight line" in the rulebook, but conversely, I don't see where I could DQ someone for putting the mags at 2,3,5,6 and point to a rule to back it up either. as for the table, yes, agree with you 100%. That is an REF, or just bad luck, whatever. But it certainly not the competitors fault.
  10. Course of fire starts at Make Ready. Only way the gun is on the table for you to sweep yourself is if Make Ready had been given. Otherwise it would be a DQ for a whole other reason/rule.
  11. Yes, but in 10.5.7 you don't have to handle the gun to get a dq, Just wearing a second gun is a dq. Same with sweeping, you don't have to be handling it to sweep yourself.
  12. Racerba, It took me a while, plus I’m at work, to see the logic jump you are making. While I don’t agree with it, I now better understand what you’re saying. So correct me if I’m wrong: Your contention is that rule 10.5.5 falls under 10.5 which is titled “Match DQ – Unsafe Gun Handling”. The key word being “handling”. The glossary further defines handling as “The act of manipulating, holding, or gripping a firearm while the trigger is functionally accessible.” So, since the word handling is defined as such, you are saying that as long as the gun is on the table prior to placing the mags, the competitor can put the magazine in position #4, without being DQ’d per 10.5.5, because he is not handling the gun? If that is what you’re saying, I still disagree with that, and I’d point to the definition of Sweeping, and then to Rule 10.5.5 which says nothing about handling. Rule 10.5.7 says “wearing or…” and it’s in the gun handling section. I think you’re taking the title of the section too literally. In my opinion. But let me ask you this, after Make Ready, if a competitor put an unloaded firearm down on a table, and then walked around the table 360 degrees ( my point being that at some point the muzzle would be pointing right at him ), that it would be fine because he wasn’t handling it? Would you say the same thing if the gun was loaded? Would you let a competitor, who places a loaded weapon down securely on a table, remains within 3 feet of the gun, doesn't allow the muzzle to break the 180, and he abides by rule 8.1 and it is in the proper Ready Condition, walk to the other side of the table, and stick his face right up to the muzzle, without touching it, and you still wouldn't DQ him? ( put aside for a second that the competitor is probably Bat-Sh*t crazy if he did that ). You’re saying that is not a DQ because he wasn't handling it?
  13. I think you need to read the rule again. It states "allowing the muzzle....", there is no verbiage that I see that states "when you have control". It's under "Unsafe Gun Handling". If the gun is not in your hand, you cannot be handling it. Still not seeing anything. You have a rule number you'd like to share that confirms what you're saying?
  14. I think you need to read the rule again. It states "allowing the muzzle....", there is no verbiage that I see that states "when you have control".
  15. WSB says Gun Unloaded on table ( for this example, the blue box below is the table), all magazines to be used for the stage on the table. Competitor puts his gun down FIRST. Then proceeds to put the magazines down on the table. Clearly #1 and #7 are fine. They are behind the muzzle. Clearly # 4 is a DQ. Muzzle is pointing at your hand when you place that one down. My question is, what about #2, 3, 5, 6? DQ for any of them? All of them? 2&6 are good, 3&5 are not? Rule 10.5.5 is Match DQ: Allowing the muzzle of a handgun to point at any part of the competitor’s body during a course of fire (i.e. sweeping). So how far past the yellow line on the picture and at what angle do you call it sweeping? You can argue that when placing #3 the muzzle wasn’t pointing at your hand, or can you?
  16. Have you tapered your decapping pin? I used to have this problem until I did, now, nothing. Just take a flat file and put a taper on the end of the decapping pin so its tapered. They will be less likely to pull the spent primer back into the pocket this way.
  17. Sounds to me like the ogive of the bullet is hitting the lands. With that OAL you might be right at the cusp of go-no go. Try loading a dummy round out to 1.140. if it sticks in the barrel, that is probably your answer. Depending on the shape of the bullet, you can case gauge and get success and have it not drop free of the barrel. For 115 and 124 is really not an issue, but when you get into JHP's and 147's you can have this issue. To give you an idea, last weekend I was loading some new bullets i wanted to try. 135 FMJ case gauged fine but wouldn't drop free over 1.125. 147 FMJ i was able to load out to 1.135. In this case, the profile of the 147 is a unique shape and more narrow than the 135. Just because someone has the same gun/caliber doesn't mean that your round will be the same OAL. It's a good starting point, but you need to fine tune.
  18. I used to do the same exact thing. No longer. Blazer seems to be easiest to load. The primers slip right in. After that, I'd say RP, FC, PPU are the most common i see and use. No issues with any of them. Lately I've seen WIN have very tight primer pockets..to the point where i've had light strikes. HRTRS and RWS havent been bad either. I've been saving any NATO rounds and S&B for a very rainy day.
  19. The girlfriend started watching this show recently. I made it through about five minutes and then went to enjoying the tripe that is posted on gun forums far better.

    LEARN me sumpin!

That is a great gun for a great price. You can always put a HAJO on later if you really want adjustable rear. As for the bushing....nice to have, not necessary. Save the money. I'm very curious which store in Greenville has this gun though. Didn't think any of the rubes around here had any clue what a CZ is. Then again, you didn't say store, you just said local.
  21. The frame does not have a FPB since there is not firing pin in a frame. True, but the SP01 frame has a Firing Pin Block Lifter arm that must be disabled in order to put a Shadow slide on top. Therefore, you are in fact removing a safety device. You can get all into semantics about what they mean by safety device, but IMO the FPB lifter arm is part of the safety device, so if you disable it, it's against the rules. Again, i think that aspect of the rule is foolish, but that is how i interpret it.
  22. SP01 frame has a Firing Pin Block lifter arm. Not 100% sure you can leave it in with the Shadow slide. Pretty sure you have to remove it, otherwise trigger won't trip the sear. I could be wrong on that. If you can leave the FPB lifter arm in and use the Shadow slide, you technically didn't disable the safety device in the frame. And the slide doesn't have a safety device, so you should be GTG. I'm sure the rules would say otherwise. If you are required to remove the FPB lifter, than no, not legal. You are definitely removing a safety device which is aginst the rules. Doesn't matter that it isn't being used, if you remove it, you're breaking the rules. I don't like it either way. You should be able to swap slides. I myself have an SP01 with a new slide on it. The original one had the front sheared off and CZ replaced the slide. So my frame and slide serial numbers don't match. It's legal to use in Production. Now what if I had gotten a Shadow slide. Removed the FPB lifter arm and called it good? The frame and slide serial numbers still wouldn't match, but how would you know that what i have is not production legal? Just seems like a dumb rule.
  23. Going to be pretty damn hard to top how you ran it Seth! That was by far the most efficient run through Chrono i have ever experienced.
