  1. Good stages are fun and challenging. It's really not that hard to build a stage that way. The best way to achieve it is to give the shooters options. Make the hard shots worth time. Last match I shot had a 50 yard short course with 1 popper and 4 full turtle targets. Popper had to be engaged from Box A @50yds. Targets 1 to 4 from outside the box. Open shooters and accurate Standard/Production shooters shot the popper, took one little step outside the box and engaged T1-4. Standard shooters with a little less accuracy took the popper from the box and hauled ass to the 25yd charge line. They ended up being about 2 seconds slower. This is an extreme example, of course. I also like to see at least one or two hard target(s) in every other stage. For beginning shooters this is a good challenge and they will not hate a 32 round stage with 4 tough shots (especially if they can trade the toughness of the shots for a little extra time). For the guys who are going for the match win, tough shots make good practice for bigger matches and keep the match exciting and challenging. I also dread matches that consist entirely of tough shots/long distances. But I dread them just as much as matches that require no effort and might as well be shot with your eyes closed. A good match has balanced stages that will be fun for experienced shooters as well as new ones. Just my 2cts.
  2. Holy crap! So I guess that means they do work after all... Did you run into any problems with the Ammo Master when reloading those amounts of ammo?
  3. Jeremiah, All Glocks are the same with exchanging connectors. You can just toss that part in and have a better trigger. Try the G34 and you will know what kind of trigger to expect. It will take some gettin' used to, coming from a crisp 1911. But it could be worse. You could be shooting DA revolvers with 12lbs. triggers, like me
  4. I have the feeling you want a G19, but the heavy trigger is holding you back? Get the G19, throw in the 3.5lbs. connector (about a $20 part) and you got yourself a G34 trigger pull. BTW, the stock 5.5lbs. trigger is good enough to win the World Championship in IPSC. It just takes some practice
  5. Personally I would do what Precision40 suggests (a G17 with a 3.5lbs. connector). But if your hands are small enough you might as well go for the 19. Try them both out a couple of times, then decide Whatever you choose, 17 or 19, it will be a good choice.
  6. Thanks for the pic AzShooter Thse are the grips I am thinking about buying. They seem to make a nice base for a new franken-grip, because they cover the backstrap and are two piece (something very very unfamiliar amongst revolver grips)
  7. I shoot Frontier in my 625. 230 grain copper plated. I am also not much of a bench tester, but I can hit the upper A-zone @20yds all day long with these bullets.
  8. Is it me or are they expecting to buy more guns than magazines? Could it be that these are additional mags and the gun comes with 2 mags from the factory?
  9. Coffee on my keyboard man...thanks
  10. AzShooter, which type of Nill grip did you choose?
  11. I think all stages should require starting in a Barney costume and shooting at happy colorful balloons...
  12. As long as Dave S. keeps kicking ass with a bone-stock G17 with a pair of new sights, I won't complain about anything on my Glock. Hell, I have the 3.5lbs. connector. That's almost like cheating! Be careful about filing the little trigger safety down. It renders the gun useless (or at least non-compliant with) for Production (external modification).
  13. Tried that and same results I guess it's also not much of a problem. I am just really curious what causes this....
  14. I have the same thing with the Stock barrel and I can assure you that it's not a trigger flaw. Buddy of mine has the same thing.
  15. HEHEHE Spook, i hope these things only happens once. Few weeks ago i had a dry powdermeasure My routine is: -toshing 500 shells in the casefeed -putting powder for 500+ rounds in the measure -filling the primefeed and having 4 filled primertubes ready at hand. Every time i have to refill the primers i put aside the produced rounds. That saved my day because it happened i forgot to fill the powdermeasure. What was left after the former session was enough for the first 100 rounds. During the second batch i suddenly noticed i had run dry There were about 60 rounds in the bin and 1 or more of them contained no powder.... Dont know yet what to do with them........ Greetings Adrie I would take them to the range and use them. Just shoot groups with them very very slowly and if you have a squib, get it out of the barrel. Or Practice draws. Those 60 rounds will be gone in no time.
  16. Reminds me of the guy who didn't use a powder check and let his powder measure run dry. It sucks and you'll only do it once.

    Reloading

Al, if you hit 2.5s starting to reload at the beep, that is pretty dang good, because it includes your reaction time. One of my fav. reload drills was 6 reloads in X seconds starting from high ready. Try to get as consistent as you can. If you want some brag-runs, use a close target. If you want to win matches, use small targets and focus on the process of pulling the trigger/follow through more. In the end, it's all about the hits Good going! PS, read this post again in a year and you will be amazed at the improvement you made.
  18. Mike, I felt the same way when I heard the shooter who inspired me to become better tell me that "People who try to make major in .40S&W with 180grain bullets don't know what they're doing".
  19. Please let us know how he did. You think he's training for the cross-division match with all the big shooters?
  20. I had the same problem when loading N320 in my light .45ACP loads. In my experience, N320 doesn't work so well with really light loads.
  21. I was talking about the all black non-tritium sights from Ameriglo.
  22. If you are talking about Glock, then Ameriglo currently has their adjustable sight as a special offer for $50. No machining required. I have a Dawson on my G17 and wouldn't buy one again. The notch is waaay to small (only .114" wide). The Ameriglo is .150 wide. EDIT: I do see that they upped the price again (last time I checked was about a week ago). They must have sold them too quickly I guess. The price is $99
