  1. Thanks everyone, I agree the six shoot neutral is one of the reasons I want to shoot ICORE. I think I will also shoot my 625 ACP and trade off between the two.. I get obsessed with new projects and want to have the best equiptment going in so I have no excuses.... As for the 7th shot, I lost a stage because I had a misfire and had to recycle, surpassong the time... It would have saved me the stage.. Loooking forward to both shoot better and make new friends. Jeff
  2. Your welcome, but thank Round Gun Shooter also, he's the gent that told me about them. Thank you both, I just got 2k of brass 38 spcl, R-P. They look great and the shipping was fast. Same price as the nickel. I asked them where the got it and they said from the Prisons. Seems the ammo they use for practice is new and they don't like to reload. Take care. Jeff
  3. Great Idea Brian and the rest. I just get obsessed. Jeff
  4. Thanks Dave, Just ordered 2K of brass, says he's out of nickel Jeff
  5. Beautiful Pictures!!!! If you would, how hard was it to get S&W to send you the TI cylinders and what was the charge? Jeff
  6. Hi, Anyone have a good source for 38 spcl Remmington Brass? Thanks for the help Jeff
  7. Hi all, I just bought a 550b from BE. Nice machine. I have set the 550 b by watching the video and set the reloader for 38 spcl. I have the small pwoder bar in and I've been trying to get a consistant output of 3.9 grs of tightgroup on a consistant basis. The output varies from 3.8 to 4.1 grs and I can't seem to keep it at 3.9. grs Is ther some kind of secret or trick to consistancy with the Dillion Powder Bars. Didn't seen to have this kind of trouble with th RCBS stuff although my arms did get tired using a single stage. I thing the variance will hurt my shooting. Need some advice. Thanks Jeff
  8. Thanks all that replied. I like toys a bunch, hence my 20 hand guns and all the other stuff I collected over the years. I'm trying to break a habit of going full bore and spending money to fix imaginary issues that don't matter. Brian's E's book has been a big help as well as this forum. I'm taking my time and learning the Dillon 550b. Hope to have perfected a good load by the time of the IRC. The guys at Wheelburnner will keep me straight. Who knows, I might just shoot my 625 Vcomp, no seven rounds there. Thanks Jeff
  9. Hi guys (and gals), I just made up my mind to shoot my 6 " 686 7 shot with moon clips rather than go out and buy a 627 pc 8 shot for now. I am just starting out. Joined the CAWheelburnners here in California. I'm looking forward to the IRC in June. I'm not new to shooting, having military and law enforcement backgournd, but I haven't done the competitions. I after my first meet I think I'm going to love it. So the question is.... How much will I miss that 8th round. My first match was the last weekend and I screwed the pooch on a couple of stages but overall having never shot in competition before, I felt I did ok with comp III speedloaders and a 6 shot 686. I did feel the that being the only guy that used speedloaders while everyone else had an 8 shot moon clipped 627 pc guns, I was at a disadvantage. So after the meet, I decided to switch out my 686 2 1/2 7 shot cylinder and put it into my 6" and had Bob Miles clip it for me. I figured I saved about $1,200.00 dollars right now that I would rather spend on some more reloading equipment and shoot more. The only advantage I see beside the speed of the moon clips is that I had a miss fire on one of the stages and had to recycle around to get the last shoot in before the reload. I missed shooting the next 6 rounds after the reload. If I had the 7th round then, I could have made the time. Being that the stages are supposed to be 6 round friendly, how much will I miss that 8th round. Any input would be welcome. Jeff
  10. I am getting excited as I read. I'll try and swap them out this weekend. I think I'll buy a lottery ticket before I do. I got the front sight back from Pnnical and tested the gun today. After the triggar job and the new front sight, I found that my gun now doesn't like Winchester primers....... Now I have to do a lot of bottom feeder shooting to get more brass so I can put in the 5000 Federal primers I just ordered. Oh well, such is life.. Thanks guys. Jeff
  11. I'm going to swap out the TI cylinder on my 325pd and try it before I find a source and buy another one. I don't know how I would use the unfulted cylinder in my 325 pd because it would defeat the idea of the 325 pd. but hopefully I will find out if it's worth itthe extra expenses. I have already had a trigger job, longer firing pin, hammer bob done and I'm now waiting for my fiber opitic front sight conversion back from Pinnacle-Guns.com. I already have Hogue wood grips that I like but I would like to change over to the Big Butt Hogue when I see one that I like. I hope it will ultimately be the best revo I have. I love 45 acp, both bottom feeders and revo's. I am contemplating getting a 627 V-comp to shot Icore but as I said, I'm just getting into the competition shooting aspect of the sport and have to browseto see what everyone else has and their likes and dislikes. I do like nice things that work right. Jeff
  12. My 625 V-comp is a 6 shot 45 acp with moon clip with the same underlug as the 627 V-comp and has interchangable compensator to non-compensated front end. It's a bit heavier than the other 625 like th JM but it is a great gun. I'm sur ther are those out there that have both. Maybe they can shed some light. Anyway, I was just thinking about swapping out the cylinders to see if they line up right. I really don't want to blow anything up or reinvent the wheel if someone has already done. How was the swap with the regular 625 and the 325 pd swap out. See any difference? 13. I have not heard of a 625 Vcomp, I have heard of a 627 V-comp. I have put the 325pd cylinders in a couple of 625's. It can be done. But the 625 and 627's are very different animals. Are you sure you aren't thinking about putting a 327 cylinder into a 627? Well, I have a 6 shot 625 V-comp 45 acp from the Performance Center and thinking about getting a 627 V-comp so that I can switch better guns and have the same feel..... The guns look similar but the 625 V-comp has an unfluted cylinder. I would think that since both guns are N frame, 6 shot 45 acp with moon clips, they might be interchangable. Jeff
  14. Hi all, New and still mostly lurking but I'm learning a bunch. I was wondering it anyone has swaped out the TI cylinder for the Vcomp unfluted and found an advantage if you did. Would you have to do anything but swap them out to try it? I believe they are the same timeing.... Anyway, First shoot for me on Saturday. My only experience is prior Law enforcement and a love for handguns. Jeff
  15. Good evening , I'm kind of the or nothing type of guy and I'm really liking the idea of ICORE and shooting revolvers really good. I have a bunch of handguns, mostly 45 acp's and 22's in bottom feeders and I love S&W revolvers. I have a 625 Vcomp, 325 pd, a 625 45 Colt mountain gun, 3 686's (1 6" -5, 1 4" with old style hammer, and 1 7 shot 2 1/2") and a 6" 617. I have been looking a adding an 8 shot to play with. I have had some work done on the 625 Vcomp and the 686 6" and plan to use them for a while but the 627 pc 8 shot is calling out to me. I see the 38/357 627 PC and Vcomp version all around but I happened upon a 625 pc 38 super that has already had the fibre sight, the triger bob and a good action job with only about 200-300 rounds through it. Now the question is..... is there any big advantage to the 38 super over the 38 special in match shooting. And is it worth reloading another calibre for it. (I'm also thing about upgrading my RCBS rock chucker to a Dillion progressive) Any observations, suggestions or insights would be helpful. Note: I'm only interested in limited for now but who knows what the future might bring. Thanks Jeff
