  2. Great news! I can't wait to get more info. Already the 7 round 9mm and the 6 round 10mm sound like a great setup for both Steel and IPSC. I'm particularly curious about the type of moonclips the 10mm uses. If it uses S&W 610 clips, it would be perfect
  3. I use a Frontier 230 grain RN Copper plated with 5.15 grains of VV N320. OAL is 32mm.
  4. I have one. It's nice, but I'd rather go with a Kydex. The draw resistance on the leather Sickinger can be very erratic.
  5. Man, that was a great vid! Thanks for sharing. If he keeps practicing he will be kicking everybody's ass by the time he's 16

    That looks very very good!
  7. Thunderstick, a bone stock Glock with the 3.5lbs. connector installed will have a 5+lbs. trigger most of the times, so chances are it's good to go in Production Division in IPSC and USPSA.
  8. The 550 seems like the most affordable (Dillon) option for you. As Ihatepickles points out, the only real drawback seem to be the lack of a powder checker. To me, this alone would justify buying the 650.
  9. Frontiers are great in .45 and .40. Don't hesitate to email the Office in South Africa with questions. You can find the info at www.frontierbullets.co.za Maybe you can find a way to import the stuff from the European Ofiice in Holland. $155 for 1000 Frontier .40 bullets sounds a bit steep (European office sells them for less than $80/1000 excl. shipping)
  10. I use my knees on everything under 90 degrees. Over 90 degrees I use the knees, or take a small step.
  11. Great posts and nice pics Bigbadaboom Dogs are the best. No matter how crappy I feel, dogs can always make me smile

  13. Neither does the goal "becoming World Champion", but I bet that was on the minds of everyone ever winning that title. Another point: if you think "not screwing up" is the goal of Jake, than I think you are wrong. Not shooting a penalty is something completely different. Take the World Shoot. Of about 800+ shooters, only one was penalty free (Eric Grauffel). TGO, Adam Tyc, Dave Sevigny, Jerry Miculek all shot penalties, and I think they all had the goal of shooting in a controlled manner. Yet, somehow they apparently didn't. The longer I think about this, the more I think Jake is onto something here. The whole "penalties don't exist, it's the Alphas we are aiming for" is getting old. Tough shots with penalties around them require more attention than tough shots without them.
  14. I understand you guys both, but I think you're not on the same line. I think C38 is reasoning that "shooting no penalties" is not what you want to be thinking while you're shooting a stage. I think Jake has the goal of shooting no penalties in the big picture, and will do whatever it takes to get there. You guys are just on a different page
  15. I believe this is very true. The subconscious is strong. I witnessed the same thing when I got sick at the WS. I was really sick and had to shoot the next day. Somewhere in the back of my head, I thought: "man, I'm sick and I will probably not do OK. Let's not try to make a miracle happen by trying to overcome the sickness. Just focus on shooting A's and you will probably get by without losing too much to the competition." I won all stages that day, including a long course I shot 7 seconds faster than Jerry M Same things happen wth layoffs. I shot some of my best matches after not shooting for a while. Like Jake says, it all has to do with being there or being over confident. Another benefit of the layoff is that most of the time, matches are exciting again, so you will pay attention anyway Anyways, good going Ron! Nice to see you back in the saddle and rocking the field courses
  16. I'm with most guys here. Keep the Colt as is and get a beat up gun to play the practical games with
  17. A couple of guys in Europe shoot 686/586s in .38 Special in minor or major. "All" the big guysshoot 625s though. I bet 610s in .40 would be just as popular if they were available. I would only use the .38 Special platform to shoot minor with. And I would get it moonclipped.
  18. Just my observation, but the top guys in Production at the World Shoot shot the same amount of A's C's and D's as the top dogs in Standard. Also, minor scoring will not make you shoot more A's. Aiming for the A will make you shoot the A. I can't see why you couldn't just do that with your current gear
  19. You can shoot them all without penalties.
  20. I'll see if I can get my hands on a couple of those stamps today
  21. Great post Big Hamp. So, in your opinion, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing?
  22. Partially correct. IPSC does not have restrictions on TYPE of holster. Placement should be the same as Standard. Behind the hipbone.
  23. There is now.. IPSC has spiffy gold medals for class wins. It looks like a President's medal but a little smaller and on a white ribbon instead of a purple one. (Yeah, I had to go ask Vince what it was, too) Did I mention it was for my top 'B-Open' in Panama at 80+% of Eric & 3rd OA in the match?? rarely-shoots-classifiers sandbagging goes both ways between IPSC and USPSA sometimes . One thing IPSC does right with their system is you go up (and down) almost immediately and automatically.. no waiting around for the next monthly update cycle Wow! I did not know that. So you're B-class and shooting 80+% of Eric. Yeah, that makes you a sandbagger alright
  24. Those are some fast looking draws and reloads Hsmith On what L2S says: I would also work on drawing from a position a little more "relaxed". I used to start with my weak hand in the same position as you and never had any trouble with it....until the World Shoot One lady RO told me to place my weak hand (well actually she physically put it) in the right place (left side of my body and not the front). Kind of an awkward moment and it made me feel a little uncomfortable starting like that. So I decided to change it for good.
