  1. I have seen at least three new guns which wouldn't function with plated bullets, because the sharp lands and grooves of the barrel would cut the plating open and the bullet would start to tumble. The owners used FMJ's for a while (shot maybe 2000 rounds through it), lapping it with FMJs and went back to copper plated bullets with no ill effects. Frontier just put a new line of bullets on the market with a plating that is twice as thick as regular plated bullets. This may also work well in new guns that normally don't like copper plated bullets.
  2. 84% Avg. Error. 33 miles Time 319 seconds. Not bad for a non-US citizen, if I may say so myself If I knew it was time based, I would have one it a little faster EDIT: 2nd time 86% 35 miles 210 seconds
  3. I shoot them in .45ACP and 9x19mm (Frontier 230 grain RN and 147 grain RN). I have never had any problems with them. Accuracy is great, they're cheaper than FMJs and they're cleaner than both FMJs and lead bullets, because they are completely jacketed. I have found that they also require less powder to make the same velocity as FMJs.
  4. Ask yourself if you would help people who are invading your country and radically trying to change it. IMHO, that would be a miracle.
  5. Anyone know what the reasoning behind the porting of this new Eric's Model could be? My thought is that the extra lenght of the barrel provides a little more velocity...
  6. Eric's old gun (before the rule that says you have to shoot at least 120 grain bullets to shoot major in IPSC Open) had 4 or 5 big blowholes in a straight line in the top of the barrel (like the S_I Hybrids). Eric shot 115 grain bullets at that time. After the rule came in effect, Eric switched to 124 grain bullets and he also switched to the small V16 ports he currently uses. I know jack squat about Open guns, but I remembered this and thought it might be useful (or not )
  7. Howdy Sam, I am really sorry to hear how you are feeling. You are definately one of the nicest guys I know. Please don't leave the forum. The wheelgunners need you! Bjorn
  8. Grip tape works great. I suggest TruGrip from www.ericwesselman.com If your gun is not on his list, you can buy some skateboard tape and stick that on the grip.
  9. Well, that guy was at least the only one there professional enough to handle a firearm
  10. The ports would put you in Open class
  11. Maybe I am missing something, but how do you enter production with a 2011? My suggestion is to let your friend decide after he shot the match with your CZ85. By then he will know what kind of game USPSA is and if he wants to play it. If he really wants a 1911 type gun, I would not suggest anything in .45 unless he wants a single stack. .40 is the hot setup for Limited (+ L-10), but he will have to start reloading too. I would seriously suggest a cheap 9mm he can shoot in Production and Limited so he can shoot cheap factory ammo and get to learn a lot of stuff without spending a lot of money. By the time he shot about 10K though whatever he bought, he will know what he really wants
  12. A friend of mine just broke the STI Bomar-style rear sight on his BULM5. He started out with a regular BULM5 Bomar-style adjustables on his BULM5. The windage adjustment screw broke off, and he had the sight replaced with a STI Bomar-style rear sight (he had lying around). Unfortunately the guy who replaced it didn't do a great job. He couldn't fit it in the dovetail, so he altered the rear sight (fortunately he didn't touch the slide) and the sight was all wiggly. It broke last week only three months after installation. I was wondering which sight you guys would install on a Bo-Mar cut? He needs a bomb-proof sight. Anything fixed out there he could just put on there? The most solid adjustables seem to be Wilson's adjustables (from the search I did). Any suggestions are welcome
  13. I am really sorry to hear that Nate. Strange how dogs can be a PITA and you can still love them to death.
  14. I love RCBS stuff. It's great quality and built like a tank. But, yes, it's worth looking at a 650 if you shoot more than 1500 rounds per month, IMVHO. The 650 is much faster than 400 rounds per hour. You can load 800 if you really take it easy.
  15. I haven't found an unmodified factory grip I can get a decent weak hand grip on. I suggest putting epoxy on it and covering it with skateboard tape unless you hands are small
  16. You mean like this? Daz whad I'm talkin' 'bout!
  17. Who does this process? Any information/link/phone number etc... Thanks. Sorry, I wouldn't know for the US I live in Europe and my friend had it done there.
  18. I got this trick from a buddy of mine. Just tape two empty shotgun hulls under the holes. The will fill up very slowly. I had to empty them about once a year.
  19. I hope GSP wins that one. Besides the fact that he is just an awesome athlete (he has so many styles) he seems like a real nice dude. Very humble and friendly.

    A Good Burger!

Happy Birthday! Juicy burgers are the best
  21. The golden barrels in SVIs are also TiN. So you can have a "golden gun"
  22. A friend of mine had his gun TiN-ed (Titanium Nitride). It's harder than Chrome, and it's more of an impregnation method than a plating. You can choose various colors. He chose black and it looks awesome.
  23. Nice job Phil! If you want to be better, you will be Keep up the good work!
