  1. Photo's of my Lever Action rifle action you asked to see
  2. I'll take some photo's of the action and post them on here later on today.
  3. I thought a few people may be interested in this so decided to put this post on here. Semi-auto rifles have been banned in the U.K from Civilian ownership since 1987 after the Hungerford massacre. We can still legally own full bore rifles but they have to be bolt action, Straight pull or Lever action. I recently bought this 9mm Lever Action PCC built on the AR platform that everyone is familiar with. It uses Glock mags & has a 12.5" barrel. It is made by a British gunsmith from a Company called Southern Gun Company. These rifles are custom made from a selection of choices on the Company web page & this cost me £2,500. .22rf mini-rifle is popular over here in the U.K and we run 8 mini-rifle/pcc comps a year at my gun club so i'll be shooting it in them with the first one being held mid April. I reload my 9mm ammo for this using copper plated bullets as factory ammo costs around £40 per 100 where my reloads cost out at less than half that plus I can make the PF to around 130 where all the factory ammo I've chrono'd makes at least 150 or more. It would be nice to own a semi-auto PCC here but that'll never happen in my lifetime so this is the best we can do. Everyone has the same rifle in the PCC division so we are all on the same level. Looking forward to putting this through it's paces soon.
  4. Try it. If it works for you - use it. I don't hook my finger around the front of the trigger guard but Angus & Eric G do so it must have it's merits.
  5. I'm not bothered what name you put on the shirt but I hope we are in the same squad in Greece !!
  6. I have a 550B which I use mainly for .45acp with the occasional swap to spp for 9mm. I was looking round for another 550B mainly because, along with everyone else, I found swapping from lpp to spp a pain in the butt! I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and was given for free, an old but fully working SDB in 9mm. It now is bolted to my reloading bench and it's so much easier not having to swap over primer systems. After loading a few hundred 9mm, if I then go straight over to reloading .45acp, it's like loading rubbish bins (trash cans to folk over the other side of the pond). My only problem now is that if I decide to reload for 5.56mm I've got to look for another 550B and then use it for 9mm as well as I have no more room on my bench!
  7. Thanks for the reply. It is legal for me to own hi-cap mags here in the UK, in fact they are not controlled at all, I can & do own many 30 rnd P mags for my ar15-M4. The luger mag only holds 7 rounds so it shouldn't raise any questions, other than my accent giving away the fact I'm not American!!!
  8. Hi all, I'm from the UK and will be coming over with my wife to holiday in the States at the end of Sept. Going to tour all the famous 'west Coast' places that all tourists visit, Las Vegas, L.A, San Francisco, Grand Canyon etc, etc. Really looking forward to it as it's been a few years since my last visit. My question. Although handguns are completely banned over here in the UK we are permitted to own 'pistols of historic interest' provided they were made prior to 1919, these have to remain at the shooting center and cannot be taken home. I have a very nice example of a DWM 4" Luger made in 1915. My problem is the magazine fell apart after I shot the Luger a few times. The original wooded base broke around were the pins hold it in position. Trying to get a replacement over here is a complete waste of time so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it legal for me to buy one (or two!!) when I'm in the U.S and take it back to the U.K with me (in my checked baggage) Thanks.
  9. You Brits have stood by us when all others have run... How could I not sell to our UK brothers? I just need to get it back and run a few thousand rounds. then I will ship to some friends that load a lot and we will make any needed adjustments. After that we talk to Dillon and see if they want it, if not, then I'll sell direct to you guys. Best JT Thanks, Our combined armed forces have my 100% support, admiration and respect. Recently over here there was a 'welcome home' parade through one of our towns by the troops based near by. Lots of supporters came out to welcome and cheer them back safely home. They were also met with a small band of Muslim extremists waving anti UK placards and shouting and swearing at the troops. The Police had their hands full and managed to stop it getting out of hand( and maybe a few killings - who knows!) My point being that although the Armies of both our Countries have my full support, I'll breath easier when the politicians allow them to ALL come home. Sorry about the thread hi-jack. Now back to the reloading. I did some more reloading last night and again I was suffering from the dreaded sticking primer bar. I read on here somewhere that slacking off the two bolts that hold the primer assembly to the frame is a temp. answer. I tried it last night and it worked a treat. Thanks again. Put me on the waiting list for your new mod Cheers, Ian C.
  10. My 550B started life as a simple 550. I bought it 2nd hand about 5 years ago and that was after it had been in storage since 1997/8 after the handgun ban over here, and I believe it was used for many years before that. It is a simple but very efficent design and I'm still happy with it. However, the main problem i've had in the past and am having now is with a sticking primer bar. I've tried all sorts of remedies but it will still hang every now and again, causing me to stop, ease it forward by hand and carry on. So, I'm also interested in seeing your new design. Hope you're willing to sell this side of the water!! Cheers, Ian C.
  11. I will be shooting in the IPSC world shoot to be held in Bali this year. I hope to be shooting a Glock 17 in Production and have pre paid for 600 rounds of the official 9mm match ammo made by Armscor. The load data for this is :- 124 grn FMJ, 4.8grns VV n340, Magtec spp. I'm told it should make around 130 'ish' power factor, but as it is the 'official' match ammo I won't have to worry about the chrono stage !!!
  12. I've got an ar15-M4 (straight pull - semi auto's are banned in the UK) I have an Acog ta01nsn on it. It is an excellent bit of kit. I shot it at 500 yards the weekend and held 9 out of the 10 shots fired in the inner scoring ring of the target. it would be perfect for what you want although the acogs are expensive.
  13. I've have had some trouble in the past with my .45acp reloads. I'd typically get about 15% rejects which would fail the case guage test, these would either get pulled or put through the taper crimp again to see if it helped at all (most of the time it wouldn't). After reading/taking advice from this forum, I bought a EGW 'U' full length resizing die and have also just bought a Redding competition seating die. What a world of difference these have made to my reloads! As the title says, I rarely use my case gauge anymore as I now trust the dies to do their job. Thanks to everyone on here who offer their knowledge and experience for us all to benefit from. Other reloadings 'must do/must haves' in my opinion are:- Dillon progresive press, in any form (I use a RL550B), Federal primers (again I was plagued by 'light strikes') not had one fail to go off yet since switching to Federals. Hodgdons Clays gunpowder, used with a Frontier plated 230grn RN I get virtually zero smoke, which is helpful as most of my shooting is on indoor ranges. Good quality digital scales. I use the pocket sized CED unit. Brass tumbler. I use a Lyman. If you are thinking about reloading for .45acp please give this post some thought as it may save you a lot of time.
  14. [quote The Brit, glad to have you along for future postals however I don't envy those 24" revolvers you have to use. PK Thanks, I'm looking forward to running/shooting it. You are right about the 12" barrel we are forced to use by our marvelous Government here in the UK, but it does mean we are closer to the target that you are from the same shooting distance
  15. Hi, I'm hoping to get a few revolver shooters from here in the UK to enter the next international postal comp. I will be entering the Australian postal comp along with a few others also.
