  1. I just received my latest HG gun today, a Winchester 1873 22 short with a Doug Turnbull refurbish. I now need to figure out the next HG gun, maybe a G series FAL or a Parker or a Swenson or a............ Rich I thought of one, a Charlie Prest eight shot 9x23/38 super revo. I had one 12 years ago that hadn't even been fired and I sold it the same way.
  2. The track with the penny next to it, is a double track. The one in front of it is a better size to compare with something. Tail drag no, foot drag yes. I would lean towards a canine, big cats bobcat and mtn lion need heavy cover. We've had several people locally claim to have seen a mtn lion for over 4 years now, with no pictures. Anything is possible, a couple of years ago if somebody said they saw a wolf it would be dismissed as a large coyote. A wild strain wolf was shot, now wolves are protected in Illinois. Rich
  3. The rules should be set in simple yes/ no question -answers like Trigger work - Yes Stippling/ checkering -NO Grip Plugs -NO Internal work - Yes Magwells internal/external- No After market sights - Yes........................................................ Any potential Production shooter would be able to check the "approved list", then look at the yes/no compliance questions. With a complete list of yes/no we wouldn't have to ask questions every 5 minutes and wouldn't have to receive an answer of "Read the US Production appendix". Rich
  4. The thing to do is look at all of the rules that have been written/changed from day one. Every time a change was made, some mods became illegal and others became legal. Did it make any difference to the game not really, why? Because USPSA has never enforced the rules, when was the last time you saw a Production gun field stripped to check for a guns compliance to the rules? The rules are more or less guide lines that USPSA assumes everyone will follow to the letter. We all know nobody would purposely ignore the rules. The rules have been poorly written from day one and have continued to be written poorly. Just my view from day one and counting, 8 years of counting. Rich
  5. Just my thought on the two, STI- production run quality with a lower value, SVI- custom made quality with a higher value. Same technology/patent just two different ways of execution. Rich p.s. SVI frames are out there, you just have to look a little harder to find one.
  6. I put a tungsten guide rod together this weekend, full diameter rod with a harden steel head. It weighs 2.5 ounces, stock rod weighs .9oz.. Install is easy on a Limited, on a Match a slight mod needs to be done on the slide to make it easy to get off. The added weight is noticeable and can help if it is something you want. Later, Rich
  7. This reminds me of an old joke. What's the World's greatest invention, a thermos. It keeps hot shit hot and cold shit cold, but How does it know.
  8. The XDm is a viable platform for Limited, L-10, Production, and steel/Pro Am, built by the right person will perform with the best of any other platform. The trigger on the XDm can be done to be a short travel and a pull weight ranging down to 1.5#. With a stainless magwell their isn't a balance issue and the slide can be lightened. There is also tungsten guide rods available in a couple of different weights and spring configurations. Bo-mar style sights can easily be low mounted into the slide and there are some good fixed sight options out there like Scott Warrens rear sight. Rich drift: Right now there are more choices then there ever has been, you don't have to be just another follower. There just seems to be enough Indians shooting so called inferior arrows winning to not ignore them.

    Winter

There is nothing that can compare to the sound of falling snow. Winter is the best time of year to be outdoors. Rich
  10. You might check out the Springfield XDm's. Rich
  11. How did Glock get away with using the FBI prefix when Springfield had to stop using that prefix when they started making the FBI's "Bureau" model. They now call it the "Professional" with a CRG prefix. Rich
  12. The P9 is a small frame, the newer Tanfoglio's are large frames, you will have to find small framed magwells. Rich
  13. The Springfield HC frame that has the plunger tube riveted on is the better frame(forged). The newer HC frame with the with the plunger tube that is part of the frame isn't as good(cast). The forged frame will accept S_I mags with the mag catch modified. I've only come a crossed one cracked frame and Springfield replaced it, I've had a number of them come into the shop. Rich
  14. Flex, it does add 2oz plus. When I cut one down, the cut off will weigh 2oz and there's a little bit more that comes off after cleaning up the frame. Rich
  15. G-man, It's brand new never owned by anyone, you could be the first person to own it. Rich
  16. Is that candy corn in that dish? I didn't know that was still around or edible. Rich
  17. To have a USPSA match it must adhere to all of the rules in the book. To ignore just one rule it isn't a USPSA match. As far as I know there isn't a rule that covers stage intent or spirit of the game. If you want to run a match and ignore the rules, don't call it a USPSA affiliated match. It's not that hard to use the rule book. Ignorance of the rule book might seem easy at the moment but it definitely is the wrong way to go. Rich
  18. I don't have reamers that will work in Tanfoglio barrels because of the type of rifling. I hope to have them some day. Rich
  19. The Limited Nationals in Fredricksburg, VA turned shooters away I was told by some shooters. Rich
  20. I see a lot of potential with this grip. I'll have to get a couple and see what is possible. They look better than some hacked up plastic grips I've seen. Rich
  21. When doing a an Open XD make sure you have the proper amount of chamber support for the case and use good quality brass. If you ever have a case failure, chances are you won't have a usable frame left. Rich
  22. If your going to do a lot of checkering it's ideal. You can do a checkering job in a few hours. A couple weeks ago I did 5 frames faster than I did one Springfield wide body by hand. You still have to clean up the checkering with a hand file. The cutters aren't cheap either. If you don't mind spending the money go for it. Rich
