  1. The Caspian widebody is a great platform, don't be worried about a little extra weight. The extra weight is where it is needed, the grip area. Capacity is 21+1 with the new tubes (Tanfoglio) with a base pad and spring-follower combination. Before the ban Caspian was the must have platform, during the ban S_I's and now after the ban there's a lot more to choose from. The only way to know if a platform is for you is to shoot them. I like the feel of metal frame guns over the S_I's. Just because everyone else seems to think the S_I is the only way to go there are plenty of other options out there. In no particular order Springfield widedody and now the XDM, Caspian, Tanfoglio/EAA, Para, CZ,and Glock. Rich

I hate this use of "popcorn" on internet forums, it's just as bad of symbols for cuss words and those damn smiley faces. Rich
  4. They have easily made more than 500 so now Springfield needs to submit the paper work. I've done a few trigger jobs on these and this model will have the lightest and shortest trigger pull than the other XD's. Rich
  5. Some distributors already have them. I've ordered in a supply. Rich
  6. Flex, Check out the garage sales, you should be able to pick up a Forest Gump special for cheap!
  7. And if you plan on using the blast cabinet a lot you will also need a back up compressor for when the primary goes down when you really need it. The average shop vac won't last, go with a purpose built cabinet vac. Rich
  8. Is the powder system different than your other Dillon press? You might have a RL1000, they were also serial numbered. Rich
  9. Since Springfield owns the SSC match they can determine how the prizes are distributed. Shooting a SA gun to win a gun has been a round for 3 or 4 years. They even had an XD challenge a couple of times. SA supplies the gunsmith kits for the custom guns for the prize table. In the beginning they gave out a custom gun to the class winners GM thru D. Over the years the number of custom guns available went down, I think reason was it became harder to find gunsmiths willing to build them. Rich
  10. As to a hospitality room, Larry Bullock used to have one at the old match hotel for several years before his untimely death. I'm sure the 1911 Society would gladly let anyone host one again. I guess I'm a little defensive when people want to change the way the SSC is run. There has been 11 years of history to this match before USPSA began its association with it. A lot of people ignored this match for years and only now shoot it because USPSA has a single stack division. It's a good thing that the SSC doesn't look and feel like a USPSA match 100%. Rich
  11. I find it interesting that people continue to refer to this match as the Nationals, it is the Single Stack Classic with USPSA piggy backing its Nationals on it. The SSC has been run like this for 14 years, there are more than a handful of people that have worked and shot this match since the first match. The stage mix has been like this since the first match, I've seen and shot stages that were much more challenging in the past than what we just did. I can remember one year even Rob complained that the stages were too hard for him. I've always called this a skills match, if you really want to know just how good you are, shoot the SSC. This match will bring out some of the most excuses you will ever hear from shooters. I know shooters who have been saying that they are much better shooters than what the results show and they have been shooting this match for many years with the same excuses and results. If you can shoot your USPSA percentage at the SSC you been practicing hard. If you want a SS Nationals to look and feel like the regular USPSA Nationals, talk to your AD and get them to add it to the mix of the regular Nationals. I'll stick with the SSC. Rich As a side note I had a great time shooting with the ladies this year, my hat is off to them.
  12. By the looks of the slide, it appears that the original caliber markings were milled out. My guess would be it was converted to a 10mm. I wouldn't go $600 for it. Rich
  13. That jig will work well, you may also want to get EGW's fixture it will hold slides and frames. Rich
  14. The slide will have to be welded up to accept an adjustable bo-mar style site. Rich
  15. 18# factory 100% reliability 16# chance of malfunction as spring wear out Any lighter and reliability starts to drop off. Rich
  16. Since Glock has twenty plus years on most of the current guns for Production, I would be shocked if they didn't have the lead right now. In five years I bet Glock will have lost a big chunk of the market now that there is a handful of viable polymer guns to choose from. My choice is easy XD. Rich
  17. I can't believe that people are so rude to criticize or turn the thread into a discussion. Maybe it's time for the Mods to crack down. Rich
  18. Just a guess, IPSC SS Div. will not be compatible with USPSA SS Div. Like no box, no weight limit,no mag limit, equipment placed any where........................ Anything that will cause confussion between the two. Rich
  19. #201 aw @*$)%@. Rich Secret Society, I can't confirm or deny but there already might be one maybe, possibly, definitely not.
  20. Z, All of this is dependant on IF the current Pro's are willing to pony up the money to gamble with. I would say most of them aren't gamblers. If the current Pro's won't do it you will have to recruit new shooters and develope a new match structure. This whole thing might sound good on the surface but it's going to take time and money to make it successful. Are you willing to gamble your time and money to do this? Rich
  21. Where to start? There are 5 Divisions, that's about how many true Pro shooters there are right now. So if you let anybody with the cash willing and able to gamble with, sign up as Pros your still going to be around 20 to 25 spread out over 5 Div.. The Pros would have to be scored and shot seperate from the Ams, I know I wouldn't want my payout determined by some hotshot Am who was able to win a few stages and squew the the points. Or worse yet an Am who makes a mistake pasting a target before it was scored causing a reshoot that goes down the drain when the first run was a stage winning run. For some reason money seems to bring the worst out of people, look what we have now with prize tables.... sandbagging. Comparing Pratical shooting to other sports doesn't work. Most sports that are popular have simple scoring methods. We have hit factors that are base off of the best shooter for each stage. How many times has each of us tried to explain how PS is scored and have the person understand it on the first attempt. I remember seeing the Pro-Am match at Rio on TV. The first day the Ams shot, the winnig Am got to shoot with the Pros the next day(I believe it was Tawn Argeris) They shot for stage wins X amount of money per stage, the Pro with the most money won the bigger prize. It was all knock down steel done under par time with 10 round mags and iron sighted guns. I think Todd J. was the big winner. Until major sponsors are found willing to pump huge amounts of money into a small market place, I'm afraid Pro shooting events won't happen. Rich
  22. Kraut, Since when does a Tungsten guide rod make a gun illegal for Production?
