Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Just got a sample pack of these Blue Bullet polymer bullets. Anyone used them? Any idea what load data to start with? Gonna use Tite Group or WSF.
  2. Guys, I'm using Tripp 9mm mags like this: What mag well do you recommend to work with these base pads?
  3. Just had some work done on my Spartan 9mm. Needed a longer trigger reach so I got a Caspian Trik long trigger to replace the stock plastic trigger, had it resprung and worked on by a local gunsmith. Pull feels to be 2.5-3 lbs and very crisp. Added some wider grips and some grip tape, feels great. I think I'll add a small magwell and replace the plastic MSH with a checkered steel version. This gun is very tight and accurate, has about 800 rounds through it and 0 malfunctions. Love it. Can anyone recommend a good magwell/main spring housing to look at?
  4. I'm planning to do a new trigger job on my Spartan (currently has about 5 lb pull with a lot of creep). I ordered the Caspian Trik flat Trigger (for long fingers) as well as a 19 lb. main spring and 10 lb. recoil spring.
  5. I'm going to shoot Bianchi with an STI single stack. None of my Tripp 10 round 9mm mags will fit into the magwell because of the sides and front of the basepads. What are my options? I'm not going to buy all new mags, but can I change out the basepads to some steel flush fitting ones? Are 9mm basepads different dimensions than .45acp basepads? My buddy installed the Bianchi prone magwell on his Kimber and he has to figure this out as well. The Mecgar 9 round flush mag that came with my STI works perfectly in his gun with the magwell. Also, is it possible to clearance the inside of the magwell to fit my current magazines? That would require milling out the inside of the magwell quite a bit.
  6. Took both guns out today and I shoot the STI better and more accurately, looks like I'm shooting Metallic. Ordered a Caspian Trik straight trigger. Now I need to decide if I want to try a prone magwell.
  7. Thanks for the help. I'm going to shoot the M&P and STI back to back this week to see which I feel I want to compete with. I'm tempted to use the STI so that I can use a prone magwell for the 25 and 50 yard lines, plus it has adjustable sights which I cannot use on the M&P. I've got a bunch of Bianchi targets and will see how I do. I've shot the M&P for the past 3 years in every 3 gun and IDPA match and love it, but the 1911 might be the way to go to progress my accuracy, we'll see. I think the CZ is out due to the DA first pull, that would really throw me off.
  8. Thank you for the help. So the apex sears would be legal but the Apex Forward Set Trigger replaces the actual trigger and likely would not be legal for production. Is there any need for an adjustable rear sight on the M&P for Bianchi? I guess I will soon find out as I shoot my (2) M&P 9 Pro's to see which one I will use. Probably bring one as a back up gun for the match.
  9. I'm shooting Bianchi Cup with some friends (one shooting Production with XDM 5.25, other is shooting Metallic with a custom single stack Bianchi 1911). I have 3 pistols to consider using: CZ SP-01 Shadow (built by Angus) M&P 9 Pro STI Spartan 9mm single stack I plan to take all 3 out to see which one I'm most accurate with. Questions about what can be done to the guns for between Production and Metallic: M&P - I'm most comfortable shooting this gun, but I keep reading that M&P's aren't as accurate for the 25 and 50 yard shooting distances. I would have to shoot production, would this allow me to do an Apex Trigger? If I install an Apex Forward Set Trigger (1911 style), would this put me in Metallic class? If I switch sights to adjustables, would that put me in metallic? CZ Shadow - In Production I have to start with hammer down using a DA first shot, correct? If I shoot it in Metallic, can I shoot cocked and locked? What if I converted it to a CZ SA trigger? Then I assume it is not production legal. If I switch the Shadow sights to an adjustable rear, would that change my class? Any advice? If I buy a CZ75SA Target, would that be legal in Production because it comes with a Single Action trigger? STI - I've shot this one the least. Is this legal for production and metallic? Help me out, both my friends shot Bianchi last year and even they don't have any clear answers for me. I'm not trying to win, but want to have fun and really improve my accuracy in preparing for this match.
  10. Ya, I've thought about a Para P18, I guess most people looking down on them is getting the better of me. I had a Para Ordnance P16 that I converted to 10mm, nothing like 17 rounds of 10mm in a 1911. Never should have sold it. What are you giving up in a P18 that an STI Edge or Trojan has? Is it accuracy, fit and finish or just status symbol?
  11. I have several CZ's including an SP-01 Shadow from Angus, great guns.
  12. Just looking to get my first single stack 9mm 1911 and I've settled on the STI Spartan, seems like an amazing value @ $650, even though it's made by Armscor in the Phillipines, but quality control and critical parts by STI. For a double stack 9mm 1911, is there a comparable value in a 2011 pistol from STI or another manufacturer?
  13. +1. Would gladly trade my 9Pro (black) for one in a color. I ordered a 2nd M&P 9 Pro today (soon to become a fun/open gun) direct from S&W (we have a company deal/discount with them), I tried to talk them into swapping out the black frame for a FDE frame, but they cannot do anything about it until an actual SKU number is created for a 9 Pro with FDE frame. I contemplated buying the M&P 9 FDE, swapping frames and then selling the M&P 9 fullsize with my black Pro frame, but that's not worth the bother.
  14. haven't seen one yet, wish I could get a 9 Pro Series in FDE.
  15. I think I decided to go with the RMR Dual Illumination 7 MOA.
