  1. Another thing to look at is, see if the top round in the mag is sliding forward and is dragging on the inside of the gun. Rich
  2. The new Caspian tubes(40) are made by the same company for the Tanfoglio's. Check out Henning Wallgrens dealer section here on Brian's forum, he has base pads for Standard box legal mags that will work. Rich
  3. The Canyon Creek magwell can be welded or epoxied on. It could even be pinned. Rich
  4. " The CZ with it's 19 round mag would be king of the hill." I think the XDm's 19 round mags and a better trigger pull would be it. Change the follower and it's 20 rounds. Rich Let the race begin!
  5. Don't like cleaning mags between stages, that has to be the best reason I've heard to change the Production Div rules on capacity. It maybe better if we mandate all ranges change their range surfaces to one that won't get your mags dirty. Rich
  6. 1.160+ oal is too long for the XD magazines, you will have problems with the rounds coming up. The chambers are cut for factory length ammo, to run a longer profiled bullet the lead will have to be reamed. Cutting the lead or chamber too deep will start to sacrifice accuracy. Shortening up the oal is the simpler answer. Rich
  7. The Dawson adj. rear uses a .285 tall front sight verses the fixed uses a .205. Eighty thou could be a factor for some holsters. The other adj. option is the low mounted Bo-mar style sight which uses a .245 front sight height. For the sight radius of the M .105 is an ideal width for the standard rear notch. The thinner the front sight the more room for error at longer distances. Rich
  8. I hate all these hollywood types who want Roman P. released, "let him go he's such a great artist". He's a f*#king child molester who needs to serve his time. There he will find out what he did isn't morally correct and find out the true meaning of molestation. All of the people who are on his side should join him in prison. If we're lucky they will all leave the US for France and never return. Rich
  9. Rich, I guess 170mm is out of the question huh? I wonder why EAA put the space INFRONT and not from the BACK like we do on our STI mags. SB If the spacer was in the back they would have to lengthen the feed lip area, which is what they need to do anyway. Their spacer is thicker than an STI mag spacer. It could be done to a 170mm mag. As a side note mags with the spacer you shouldn't have extended base pads installed, the spring and follower can get caught under the spacer. Rich
  10. The three mags on the right are mags with a spacer in the front of the mag 9mm, some 40 cal mags have them most don't. You can only run factory length rounds nothing long with those tubes. Rich
  11. Of the two listed Kart, given my choice Nowlin. Rich
  12. You can cut dry with tungsten carbide cutters that have been surface treated, I can get 4 slides cut with one cutter. If I could use cutting fluid they would last longer. Rich
  13. A few years back I built a six inch 9x23 gun to shoot the Limited Nationals in minor. It was a good experiment for that match, there was 4 stages that I could run without the reload that everyone else had to. As a side note not one CRO/RO noticed that I didn't do a reload to complete the stages. The six inch sight radius was more of an advantage than the extra rounds. I mainly did it to because of my back, major hurts more to shoot than minor. I came up 4 stages short of finishing because it was I hurting too much. IF .355 was to be allowed in LTD for major you would see most shooting heavier bullet weights to get a softer feel in the hand. Heavier bullets cost more, and 1/3 or more powder is needed to make major no cost saving there. If you don't already have a .355 dia Ltd gun you would have to re barrel your existing Ltd gun or do a new build, kind of sounds like what happened in Open when 9mm major was approved. Also you would have to buy a new set of mags and tuned mags are all the rage right now so more money spent. Gunsmiths would be the big winner with a rule change like this and here I'm against it, maybe I should re think this Hmmm. Rich
  14. .30 cal major, I get .25 auto to make major, when does it stop. Well it stops at .40 cal dia. for major that's what the rules are right now and hopefully forever. .40 is the power factor requirement for major it's just one of the elements that make up Limited Div., play the game as written changing for a very small group to create a larger group isn't the way to keep the sport going. Rich
  15. With this you want a CRO/RO to speculate if the shooter is hesitant or is on a blazing run and also determine if the hits were good. Try again, this will create more problems than can be imagined. Rich
  16. A gunsmith trigger job with the factory parts would be better in my opinion. Rich
  17. I would guess that the number of popper failures since the inception of poppers in the shooting world is rather small compared to the number of poppers that have been hit and fallen. It just takes one popper at one major match to get an uproar going. The rules as written do work, it's in the shooters control as what to do, make the decision and live with it. Rich
  18. The Heinie and Warren sights use the factory height front, Dawson's use their 0.205 height. Low mount Bo-mar style sight uses a custom height. Rich
  19. Twist rate and wire diameter is the way to determine the spring weight by manufacturer. Some companies already sell their springs color coded. When a spring wears out, throw it out. I buy springs from two different companies only, I use their spring rating as a general guide line. You have to test the springs to see which one gives you the best sight picture return, feel, and function. Just because someone says a __# spring is the magic weight doesn't mean it is for your gun and load. One company does sell their springs in plastic tubes which makes it easier to keep them sorted out. Rich
  20. I believe it was the '96 Open Nationals Doug tried to used the gun, he had to borrow someone elses backup gun to finish. The designer/owner was there with him, Rudy Wolff. They were having a problem with the bolt, if I remember correctly they got some loc-tite in a place they shouldn't have and couldn't get it out with the tools at hand. It's a cool design, I wouldn't mind having one to tinker with. Rich
  21. They might be able to squeeze a 5.5" barreled gun into the box. Rich
  22. "I'll be staying in Chicago for a week.. and i'd like to go to a gunstore to see a REAL gunstore.. not like the ones that we have here smile.gif ahehehe.." I hope you are really joking about Chicago, handguns are not allowed in Chicago or even a gun store. No Joke. Rich
  23. I think a gunsmith trigger job would be the better route, you would get the maximum trigger performance possible. Rich
  24. If they do a longer M it would probably be longer than 5". Rich
  25. I've tried out the sear pins they're great, I'll use them on all trigger jobs from now on. Rich
