  1. The XDm has the same sight radius as a 5" 1911. The XDm with the Canyon Creek base pad will hold 21+1. The XD with the CC base pad will hold 16+1. The CC stainless steel magwell gives the gun the perfect balance, keeps the hand high up on the grip, and is a true magwell not something that is an add on. If one wants some weight up front there are tungsten guide rods available in 3.25oz and 4oz. The trigger can be set up to be short, smooth, and crisp if done by the right gunsmith, no trigger kit will come close. It will be like a long 1911 travel trigger. The grip can be configured to fit anybody hands. The XDm will deliver the accuracy. All of this will cost less than a 2011 base gun. Polymer framed guns will shoot any power factor, they aren't just Production guns for shooting minor. As Flex would say pick a gun and shoot it. Rich
  2. Max length would be 1.150 for 100% reliability. Rich
  3. It's well worth the wait on a custom built gun as opposed to a production line gun. Rich
  4. Give the XD/m line of guns a hard look, the trigger can be set up to fit his needs. Rich
  5. I take it that you don't want an accurate gun and a Custom XDm costs just as much as a Tanfoglio so that would make it a "cheap route" also. Not a dig just an observation. Rich
  6. She would probably like something like this.
  7. The only way to find just a top end is on the secondary market. SA doesn't sell major components on their XD/m line, just the small parts. If cost is an issue find a used gun for sale and strip it for the parts you want and sell the rest off. Rich
  8. Barrel porting is not legal, if it is switch out for a non ported barrel that would be OK. What do you mean by frame lightening? Rich
  9. Other than the frame and slide so is the Trophy match. Plus not all STIs are made in Texas, the lawman yes, but not all. Flip a coin and pick one. Either will do you well. I run a Trophy match in .40. All STIs besides the Spartan and the revolver are made in USA. No Springfields are. All Springfields with an NM serial number pefix are made here in the US, N prefix are made in Brazil. I haven't seen one Trophy Match that didn't have a NM prefix. Rich Rich
  10. I would say no way to changing the game to make it more TV friendly. If the video crew can't figure a way to film the game the way it is get a better crew, don't change the way the game is played. Exploding targets are just a gimmic to make it more tv viewable, all it would do is add another match expense, possible range failures(reshoots)..... Rich
  11. I would like to give a big Thanks to all of the shooters who came to shoot this match and a really big Thanks to the entire staff who made this match possible. I'm very proud to have my Company name on this match. Thanks again Richard Dettelhouser Canyon Creek
  12. Here is the L10-Limited-Production guns for the Area 5 Division winners. Rich
  13. Black Max loctite is used for bonding steel to steel, it does work great but is very expensive and a very short set time. Rich
  14. Yes it can be done and has been done. Rich
  15. Why don't you convert your XDm 40 to a Limited Division gun. Trigger job, sights, magwell, 140mm 21 round mags, and an extended release. Rich
  16. The demand for the grips is very small, the cost to have a set of molds made is a lot higher than than the potential break even point. SPS makes grips now, when the patent expires they can bring them into the US. Even the air soft version of the S-I gun is very similar, one might have to check them out to see if they could work. Rich I'll trade anyone who has a steel SV grip for a new SV polymer one, even up would be a good deal!!!
  17. Vit N320 or N310 with a 130 grain or heavier bullet. Rich
  18. Titegroup is very dirty when shooting minor 9mm, you can expect to see malfunctions start at around 250 rounds fired with the XD. Rich
  19. I don't drill them, I just hit them with a punch. They aren't that hard to remove. Rich
