  1. The simple explaination that I use: "We shoot the brown targets because they are harder to see against the dirt backstops." The general response to that has always been "Uh, OK." Sometimes you can tell they were all set to argue your answer, but I've never had anybody not accept my explaination. Nolan

    The Sith Sense

The Psychic Prettyboy cheats. Using a 2 digit number there are only a set number of combinations of adding and subtracting. Each time there is one set of icons shown for ALL of the combinations, so that is the one shown in the crystal ball. The next time the icons change and a different icon is shown for all the combination sets and it is the one shown in the crystal ball. Nolan

David Blaine does a similar trick with a deck of playing cards. First he holds the deck of cards up and fans the deck while holding it at the bottom of the deck so you can see the face value of the cards as they fan forward. Then he has you mentally pick a card, any card, and think of the card. Then he 'magically' pulls your card out of the deck. It worked on me even as I watched on TV. The trick was he cut 1/16 of an inch! of the top of one card so when he fanned the deck that card was displayed fractionally longer than any of the other cards. Your subconcious mind would automatically pick that card. Nolan

Well it will be another F1 race that I won't be watching regardless if they race 60 cars or 6. F1 loss my viewership! Nolan
  5. We watched Team America while my sister and brother-in-law were here visiting. I hadn't seen it before so when Team America takes off in the Team America airplane and the theme song is playing... I'm thinking "Uh oh, I hope this doesn't offend Sharon." I should have known better considering my family and her husband, but when the 59 second sex scene started... No worries, my sister is laughing so hard she's just about to bust. For the next couple of days whenever someone would sing "I'm so wonwey" everyone would just crack up. Nolan
  6. Happy Birthday Kathy!!! From Meimei and Nolan
  7. I would describe 'slapping' as when your trigger finger continues forward on reset and comes completely off the face of the trigger. I've seen some video of TGO where it almost looks like his finger hits the front of the trigger guard. Nolan
  8. I know exactly why the new rule book forbids holding anything in the hands while airgunning a stage. I've nearly had more than one heart attack when I turned around and somebody is using a 170mm magazine laid on top of their hands as an ersatz gun. Nolan
  9. Oh man, I feel for you! I know exactly how that feels. How are the nail beds on your toes? When you're feeling better we can compare photos and see who has the ugliest smashed toe nails. Nolan
  10. Yeah, here in the Bay Area there is a Union 76 station/hand car wash that has the monitors. The video clip promoting the hand car wash had about 6 bikini clad women washing a nice BMW. Sweeeet! Unfortunately when I looked over at the car wash Juan, Javier, Jesus, Pedro, Jose, and Flaco were hard at work washing a Toyota. Nolan
  11. I thought it was that animals don't go bald? Nolan
  12. What I really hate is when it's me! At the Silver Buckle match I hogged the ports on stage 6(?) thinking I was the "on deck" shooter and then discovered I was actually "in the hole" and Boy I wished I could have just pulled the damn hole in over myself. Fortunately we were not crowded for time. The RO saw my error and gave the real "on deck" shooter plenty of time. Nolan

The failure to reach any kind of compromise and then waiting until the parade lap to drop the bombshell on the fans has probably killed F1 in America. I loved watching F1, but now, FORGET IT! I'll watch the paint dry before I watch another F1 race. The wing angles, front and rear, could have been mandated to reduce the tire loading in the banked areas of the track. This is allowed within the rules, but I don't know the reasons why it wasn't used. Nolan
  14. Wow, you actually got through 10 minutes! You're stronger than I am! Meimei bought 6 copies for her video store. Only 3 people rented it and 2 of them complained about the movie. She finally ended up selling a couple of the copies for 4 bucks each. I hate the Pukeabees! Nolan
  15. Sorry about the thread drift. The original hosts for this video is no longer an active website, but they claimed 220mph. 220kph is 135mph and I think a Hayabusa in top gear doing 10,000rpm is doing more than 135. Here's some more links to some insanely fast motorcycles and their even more insane riders. http://xfer.gofastvideo.com/gallery/getite.../Busa-turbo.wmv http://www.ddgvideo.com/Video/NEW%20VIDEO/...20340%20kph.wmv http://www.sromagazine.com/movielinks/jump.php?202 But for sheer acceleration it's hard to beat this 48 cylinder Kawasaki 2 stroke. http://www.ddgvideo.com/Video/NEW%20VIDEO/...20cilinders.wmv Nolan
  16. I couldn't tell what model the bike is, but the Suzuki Hayabusa puts out about 160hp to the rear wheel, weighes about 475 pounds and the early non-speed limited bikes would top 195mph with ease. Nolan Here's a clip of a turbo'd 'Busa doing 220MPH not the 220KPH listed on the video page. The MPH is the Outside ring of the Speedo and the KPH is the Inside ring. When the guy whacks the throttle at 60MPH the front wheel doesn't touch pavement again until 140MPH! Yikes! Turbo Hayabusa
  17. Here is more information on the same type of problem case feeder jams I also added a brace from the case feeder support to the wall and have had virtually no problems since. Nolan

    Verdict

Yeah, only in America! and in more ways than one. Is it the juries are good enough to catch the cops when they manufacture evidence? Is it the cops aren't competent enough to manufacture credible evidence? Is it the DA isn't competent enough to prosecute a credible trial after publicly stating they are out to 'get' the defendent? Sadly in both cases I fear both defendants might have been guilty, but equally sadly in both cases I had serious doubts to the credibility of the prosecution's case. All I can hope for is today's verdict was the correct verdict. Nolan
  19. Before the HoserCam I used to think I never tracked Swinging targets. I was pretty sure I just shot them as a static target. I got a chance to practice on a couple of fairly fast moving targets right after I built the first HoserCam and it was a real eye opener. I tracked the targets with the gun (both Open and Limited) much more than I would have thought. Nolan
  20. Well, I won't chime in about cleaning guns, but I will say try some Slide Glide Lite. I'm a clean gun fanatic, I hate dirty greasy guns, but I hate guns that don't run even more, soooo since I started using Slide Glide I've just learned to suck it up and leave it looking dirty because it RUNS! If Slide Glide Lite is too thick a drop or two of any light oil will thin it out a bit and it will still stay where you need it. Nolan
  21. A quick and dirty check for case gauges. If a fired case will not fit the case gauge the gauge is smaller than your chamber. If a fired case fits the case gauge use a different case gauge. Nolan

    Dragsters

A couple of years back I took my Thai girlfriend and her 21 year old son to the drags at Sonoma. When the first pair of Top Fuel cars started their motors at almost the same time her eyeballs just about popped out of her head. Even with earplugs it was loud, then came the burnout which is with just one magneto firing and 1/4 throttle she couldn't believe the sound, and smell (we were at the 60 foot mark off the starting line). Then when both cars launched at the Green light both Mona and her son actually jumped clear off the ground. It sounds like a bomb going off, a big bomb!, when the engine goes from idling at 3,000 RPM to 9,500 RPM in 3/10ths of a second. Nolan

    Dragsters

Some more interesting facts. The pushrod for the intake is a beefy 7/16 inch diameter, but the pushrod for the exhaust valves are 1/2 inch diameter because the cylinder pressures are still so high when the exhaust valve opens. I forget the formula (revs, # of cylinders, 1/5 gallons per second, etc...) but each time the intake valve opens something like 1/4 cup of fuel is pumped into each cylinder. Don't forget the G-forces when the 'chute pops open at the other end of the track are somewhere around 6 G's. So does that balance out the compression at the starting line? A dragster weighes over 8,000 pounds when it goes across the finish line because of the aerodynamic downforces on the car at 300+mph. You can actually see the cars bow upwards in the middle because the motor is trying to lift the front wheels off the ground, but the front wing is holding them down. Nolan
  25. Sounds like the firing pin spring is coil binding. Check the compressed length of the spring verus the length of the spring channel. Is the slide an SVI with removable breach face? The spring needs to be shortened considerably because the screw that holds the breach face takes up some of the spring channel depth. Nolan
