  1. The CT state,New England Regional, and Winter Nationals IDPA matches all use online registration and squadding.
  2. My home club is about 20 minutes away. I shoot both IDPA and USPSA there every month. There's another IDPA club about 40 minutes away that I shoot every month. There's a USPSA club that puts on great matches about 90 minutes away that I go to if I have the day free. There's another USPSA club about an hour away that I only attend if my girlfriend is away as it's a smaller 4 stage match. I drive an hour for a 4 stage indoor match in the winter because it's the only chance to shoot USPSA Dec-Mar.
  3. Good communication, evening hours, and cheap FFL transfer prices. If it doesn't have to go through an FFL, I buy it online. A small selection of 'oh crap' parts wouldn't hurt, like pins and springs for common guns, and spare parts for Dillon and Hornady presses.
  4. I'm pretty sure not allowing semi-autos is a bigger difference than allowing 8 shot revolvers.
  5. SSS makes ESP basepads that fit the IDPA box.
  6. Some IDPA matches around here played with the team concept for a bragging rights award a few years ago, haven't heard about it lately. It was 4 person teams, each different divisions and different classes. Ie: SSP Master, ESP expert, SSR sharpshooter, and ESR marksman. Add up the total time for team score. If I were doing the the same for USPSA, I'd make it 3 person teams, Open, Limited, and Production with some kind of class point system with a max. Add up the total match points. The problem with opening it to any mix of divisions is match points are easier to come by in the less populous divisions.
  7. +1. When Taran came on, I was look, oh, Taran is hilarious, and my girlfriend was said 'Maybe somewhere else, but he really doesn't do it for me on this show'. I want a movie review segment!
  8. Did you miss where Rob said that it uses the same database as the new site? It's completely up to date. It's definitely not up to date on state level. There are at least three production GMs in Texas, and the data shows two. Weird. I know a guy who just made M in Production in RI and he shows up. (No PRD A's show in RI, so the M must be him).
  9. Dave, you did a fabulous job running the match. Every shooter I talked to loved it. It was a pleasure to work because it was well organized and you got plenty of staff.
  10. Since he has an M16 to offer in return, I expect most folks will be even happier than usual to offer up their guns to try.
  11. I would put it on a fixed delay after something the shooter does, like shoot a popper or open a door. We had a stage like this at the IDPA New England Regional this weekend. You pulled a dummy down in a car. 7.5 seconds after you moved the dummy, a charging target activated. It made for a really interesting stage.
  12. To add to Evan's post, the other problem I see new and experienced shooters alike have at bigger matches is not being used to that much shooting in a day. Make sure you're well rested and hydrated and make sure to keep drinking water all day. Have a few snacks in your bag to keep your energy up. A 10+ stage major is a lot more fatiguing that a typical 4-6 stage club match.
  13. Good work! How did this affect your match results?
  14. One. I did the same thing at the Maine state match in 2009.
  15. Did you miss where Rob said that it uses the same database as the new site? It's completely up to date.
  16. Given how many reports I've seen lately of difficulty finding complete 5" guns, I'm inclined to believe them for now. I know someone who bought a slide and did the conversion about a year ago, though he is a S&W certified armorer.
  17. The LnL started coming with a plastic primer rod primer follower at the time of the EZ-ject changes.
  18. My M&P has been perfect for 4k since I switched away from Wolf primers.
  19. Get an accurate rimfire and shoot some bullseye matches. I shoot in a 50 foot 22 rimfire bullseye league in the winter, and I think it's very valuable cross-training.
  20. They're going to sell a ton of them for $700 ready to run.
  21. When I saw the thread title, I assumed this was about a single stack. In limited, there's no worthwhile reason to shoot anything but 40.
  22. If you order too much for one hazmat from PV, they'll call you and work with you to get as much as they can in.
  23. I shoot a Ruger in an indoor gallery league in the winter. It holds the x ring easily with good ammo. If you're just starting out, I think it's the best value. If I got more serious about it, I'd go for one of the fancy euro target guns like Pardini, Walther, Hammerli, etc. I have a Tac-Sol 1911 conversion on the way, but that's for cheap practice for USPSA. I'll see how it compares accuracy wise.
  24. Yeah, the BHP is a great gun, I only sold mine because it sat in the safe after I switched to the M&P Pro for competition.
  25. MSRP is $419, and S&Ws usually street between 10 and 20% off MSRP. I expect once they're in stock everywhere, street price will be about $350.
