  1. Cleaning the built up crud out of the hole the primer falls down solved the primer pull-back issue for me, at least in the short term.
  2. PP1-B-j on page 16 of the rulebook.
  3. The general attitude of this match is why USPSA shooters badmouth IDPA. Thankfully none of the IDPA matches I've attended throughout the northeast have any of this kind of attitude. The procedural for messing up the stickers isn't unreasonable, IMO, but most of the rest is ridiculous. The 1st offense FTDR, 2nd offense DQ for airgunning or sight pictures directly contravenes the rulebook.
  4. I think I remember reading/hearing somewhere that that's why Matt Burkett didn't do it. Too much time and reputational risk, especially the first season, having no idea what the producers would do. I'm guessing Taran made the same decision, possibly with input from Matt.
  5. Chris Tilley is also a GM in limited, and shot 90% in limited nationals last year and 87% the year before. I shot a match like this but limited to action pistol that was a memorial for a popular shooter who shot all the disciplines who died suddenly of a heart attack. Stages were, IDPA low light standards, regular IDPA stage, USPSA field course, steel challenge (smoke and hope), and 30 knockdown steel. It was a blast, and it's running again this year. I'm also kicking around the idea of a match like you describe inspired by the complaining about top shot a local forum. 22LR bullseye, centerfire pistol steel challenge stage, rimfire rifle steel stage, highpower rifle national match course (though with any sights), and a round of trap.
  6. Taran would be my write in candidate, especially if they let him rant about the selection of movies available in the house.
  7. One caveat with the 10 rounders. You'll have to modify the follower for it to be loadable with 10 rounds and the slide closed. They redesigned the follower at some point, and the new ones suck in the 10 rounders.
  8. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Jerry was a GM at skipping rocks.
  9. Yeah, it just let me do it as well, and I'm not an RO either. Perhaps a bug in the website. It says on the previous page that it's restricted to those types.
  10. Only club contacts, RMs, and RMIs can do that.
  11. If you knew your number, I was just going to suggest you get practicing. If you move up in class, you get a new card.
  12. I like having daylight shifted to after work. I hate the transition too though. I think the east coast should stay on UTC-4 year round.
  13. For the major IDPA matches I've worked/shot around New England, all the scores are entered in the computer by two people, and the software kicks out any that don't match for verification. For any thing bigger than a club match, I'd expect this.
  14. Why not just have them shoot for a legal score in limited?
  15. How did Gregg Kratochvil shoot an 18 round stage with a revolver in under 5 seconds?
  16. I think anyone preparing for the show should have trained with a variety of box stock guns. If I were going to be on the show, I would've put out a call to my local shooting friends to loan me all kinds of stuff to practice with. Picking up an unknown gun and doing OK with it is a skill that's rarely or never tested in traditional competition settings.
  17. Basically, a Modified gun is an open gun that fits in a 225mm x 150mm x 45mm box. Also, you have to shoot 40 for major like limited/standard.
  18. How much of the remaining sound was the sonic crack? I know an FFL/SOT who suppressed an old single shot 20 gauge. Run wet with subsonic shells, the sound of the pellets impacting the berm is almost louder than the report. I think he wrote an article for Small Arms Review about it. 19. More weight on the front of the gun. Some people like the feel, some don't. If I ever leave MA or our laws get fixed, I'm going to do a project like this. The only thing I might do different is removing the logos completely rather than partially with the slide cuts. Nice Gun.
  20. Stock M&P 9Pro Comptac holster and single mag pouches 147gr Precision bullet 134PF worth of Solo 1000 (3.7gr with my current lot) Wolf SPP Mixed range brass After trying a friend's M&P with the full Apex kit, I'll be getting one for this season.
  21. I'm not a parent, but the first resource I always point parents who ask about kids and guns to is Kathy Jackson's http://corneredcat.com/.
  22. I just saw a used 930 with 28" barrel for $375. I almost bought it to buy one of the 24" not ported barrels, but I'm waiting to see what happens with the forthcoming competition model.
  23. I never said he couldn't load down according to the rule you cite. And I said seriously consider in my post for a reason. It set off my "Is assessed for any attempt to circumvent or compromise the spirit or rationale of any stage by the use of inappropriate devices, equipment or techniques." spidey sense. Usually I'm the last person to get pissy at 'gamers' (I proudly consider myself one), but I was in a bad mood and this felt like it crossed some sort of line. Thinking about it further, I can't really support a penalty from the rulebook. The time and effort spent managing multiple loads is probably counter-productive anyway. Also, you pretty much have to use them for the whole stage any time there's steel. It's not like you're going to get a speedloader full of ammo in the gun in the right chambers to time where it's going to get used like you can with a magazine, at least without wasting far more time than you save. Re calibration loads, IDPA doesn't have any popper calibration or challenge rule. That's a separate issue that's probably worth its own thread.
  24. If you do that in a match I'm running (run multiple ammo types so you can shoot a weaker load), I'll give serious consideration to giving you an FTDR. That said, IDPA has no popper calibration rule. I generally set them as light as possible.
