Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. great summary; I will definitely be using this the next time I go to the range! thanks!
  2. I am by no means an expert, but his is how I look at it as well. I take a start slow and work up in speed til I start making mistakes then slow back down...
  3. oh, sorry... I haven't looked at the CO rules in a while; I moved to limited because I personally shoot irons better than a dot...
  4. I know it kind of a late response, but... If you are going to shoot carry optic you can't modify the external trigger; thats why i just used the AEK and reset assist...
  5. Great info! I'm also a fan of the 180 gr Blue Bullets. I just bought an STI Edge and was wondering what OAL to use... I was using 4.5 gr TiteGroup with 1.125 OAL for my 180 gr loads out of my M&P Pro and making about 175 PF, sounds like i don't really have to mess with my setup too much...
  6. Great data! I am quite literally just getting in to reloading. I got my Hornady AP lock-n-load set up over the past couple of days and now I'm waiting for my 180 gr RNFP Blue Bullets to get to my house (hopefully today). I'm going to start off using Titegroup powder, CCI primers, and Blue Bullets with reclaimed mixed brass. I'm curious how the blue bullets will differ from the Precision Delta FMJs you used (I planned on starting in the same range 4.3-4.6 gr of powder based on Hodgdon's load data). Does anyone have any data with this same recipe except with 180 gr RNFP Blue Bullets?
  7. I DQ'd on the first stage of my second ever USPSA match for breaking the 180 during a reload... The stage had a table that you are seated at to start the stage; with the gun on the table unloaded and all of your mags had to be on the table; I was a little nervous about the stage due to my inexperience so I studied what the other guys were doing and tried to mimic the way they had chosen. Timer went off, I grabbed my gun and inserted my first mag and stepped off to the far left engaged the 2 targets that were presented, then shot the 3 targets that were in the middle (through a "window") and proceeded to grab another mag for a reload on the way to the far right. That's where it went downhill... As I grabbed the mag and rotated my upper body to head to the next position, I over rotated and broke the 180 as I inserted the mag (prolly about 181 degrees but never the less I broke it)... DQ'd, womp, womp, womp... I was highly embarrassed at the time and it still stings a bit to this day; mostly because I put the RO who was standing a little behind and off to the right (direction I over rotated) and also everyone else in my squad in danger, but I stayed to help and try to collect some good gouge on how not to have this happen again! Even as embarrassed as I was, I knew I had to take it as an opportunity to learn and it definitely engrained being more aware of where my gun is pointed at all times.
  8. I don't know much about Glocks, but SJC customs sells a Glock frameweight with or without a thumbrest that attaches to it (not sure if it will fit the G35) which will help with muzzle flip by adding some weight to the front of the gun/giving you a stable platform to fight it better via the thumbrest... I also recently switched to limited (from carry optics); so I put a magwell on and am looking at getting the frameweight w/ thumbrest and the apex flat face trigger (already have the competition spring kit) for my M&P Pro CORE .40. Plus, One of the guys I shoot with gave me a great deal on a CR speed race holster because he didn't like it, but IMO it is awesome! I will eventually switch to a 2011 but for now I am just making my current setup as good as it can for the time being.
  9. The 1st and 2nd places were in the unclassified division; overall limited places were 4th and 7th (out of 10 and 15, respectively, limited shooters) so I definitely have lots of room for improvement. I am currently unclassified but will be a high D to mid C and my goal is to be a B within a year...
  10. Definitely happy with my current setup but will eventually move to a 2011 and current I do shoot factory ammo (165 gr freedom munitions which I believe makes around 185 PF), but I was gifted a multistage hornaday press and once I get the die set and other peripheral equipment I am gonna start reloading and get as close to 170 PF as I can. Thats how the guy I’m gonna learn to reload from loads his match Ammo
  11. Welcome to the fray/addiction that is known as competitive shooting! haha! I started about a year ago and after my first match I was hooked as I'm sure you are now too; good people, good shooting, good competion; what more can you ask for?
  12. I've been stalking this forum for a while now and decided to sign-up... I have been shooting USPSA for about a year now but was only able to shoot about 4 matches until last weekend I started taggin' along with one of the Air Force shooting team members who I met because we are stationed at the same base. Since then I have shot 3 matches and I am thoroughly addicted. Mostly, I am trying to find the best division to match my shooting style/ability; I was shooting Carry Optics with my 5" M&P Pro CORE .40 which is a big disadvantage since it is only scored Minor PF. That plus having a very hard time tracking the dot (96% of my pistol shooting experience is with iron sights) drove my descision to take the dot off. So, I switched to a race holster and added a magwell on top of the other mods I have done (competition spring kit [no flatty since it wasn't allowed for CO], ultimate striker block/sear, reset assist, TTI +5 Base pads) and BOOM I'm now shooting Limited. So far so good in Limited; I shot two matches this past weekend and placed first in my class/division on Saturday and second on Sunday. I'll quit rambling now, but I look forward to more actively participating on the forum and happy shooting to everyone!
