badchad
I shot a match this weekend and I had to shoot long targets around a barricade, and I think it had a steel ridge that I wasn’t anxious to rest my rifle against. I figure my options are: 1. Don’t worry about it, the v-tac finish is strong enough you can rest it against anything and not scratch it off. 2. Don’t be so vain. All good shooters scratch the hell out of their rifles. 3. Always keep some skin between the barricade and the rifle. 4. Put some grip tape or (something else) around the forearm to keep from scratching the finish. So which option is best, and did I miss any?

kellyn
I want all my competitors to worry about scratching their rifles. Don't 3 gun with a rifle that you are not willing to get banged up. So go with #2. Chicks dig scars.

DMAC
Wrap a big tampon around it and you're good to go! JK. I didn't want to scratch mine either. It's gonna hurt a little (especially the first time), but it will O.K.

VegasOPM
I don't worry too much about scratches.... of course I shoot Glocks. Try racquet tape for re-gripping tennis racquets. It is tacky, somewhat padded and it doesn't leave residue. I use it on my Glock grips, my AR forearm and my AR stock to mark my cheekweld position. blkbrd
My V-Tac is covered with mud from the sandbags on stage 7 and scratches the roof on stage 8 at Ft. Benning, and I think I will just let the mud stay.

busyhawk
Another option is the coating like what the POF's have on thier handguards, resemble a bed lining (Rino?) and it helps with the sticking to the object you are trying to adhear to, wall, rock ect...just a thought. xpd54
We are talking about a 3 gun rifle, right? It's not a mint Colt SAA with an unturned cylinder. Scratch the damn thing and be done with it.
